Another year, another glamorous night of the Golden Globe Awards ― the annual show where we get to watch some of the most glamorous celebs in Hollywood get drunk and celebrate our favorite moments on the big and small screen ― and occasionally say something powerful and profound.  Highlights of the night for women ranged from Tracee Ellis Ross finally winning her first Golden Globe for “Black-ish,” “The Crown” winning all the awards, and Meryl Streep’s poignant, political acceptance speech for Lifetime Achievement.  But the best part of any awards show is, without a doubt, the tweets, and the ladies of Twitter were in fine form tonight. For The Last Time, Jennifer Aniston Is Not Some 'Sad, Childless Human'
Huffington Post - 3 months
Jennifer Aniston is still not content to be fodder for tabloids. In Marie Claire’s December issue, Aniston opened up about writing a powerful blog in The Huffington Post earlier this year addressing the “body shaming” and “sport-like scrutiny” she’s subjected to as an actress.  “My marital status has been shamed; my divorce status was shamed; my lack of a mate had been shamed; my nipples have been shamed,” she told the magazine. Aniston added, “It’s like, why are we only looking at women through this particular lens of picking us apart? Why are we listening to it? I just thought: ‘I have worked too hard in this life and this career to be whittled down to a sad, childless human.’”  The actress also opened up about her husband, Justin Theroux. The pair, who have been together for six years, married in August 2015. “Why is he the right person for me? All I know is that I feel completely seen, and adored, in no matter what state,” Aniston wrote. “There’s no part of me that ...

Fear and Loathing at "Hastings-on-Hudson"
Huffington Post - 5 months
Rebecca Ferguson plays Anna, who had much more fun being the "other woman." Photo credit: Barry Wetcher, DreamWorks How can a gripping page-turner be such a mediocre movie? The Girl on the Train, directed by Tate Taylor and based on the blockbuster novel by Paula Hawkins, is upscale, sexy and stylish, featuring many good looking people behaving badly. The movie is so confusing to follow, it makes keeping track of the names in Russian literature seem easy. What is perfectly clear is that everyone is miserable. Screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson plucks the mousy brown protagonist, Rachel (played by Emily Blunt), from the British rail in the book to the tracks of the Metro-North Railroad in New York. Rachel is a sad sack, par excellence. The movie opens with her sitting backwards on a train, foggily sketching in a notebook. Rachel is usually snookered because she likes to sip alcoholic beverage in a plastic commuter cup. Haunted by loss, despair and self-loathing, she wa ...
