3 Female Millennial Designers to Follow
Huffington Post - over 1 year
Fashion Week San Diego (FWSD) is a fashion celebration that highlights emerging designers from around the world. Since 2012, FWSD has served as a launching pad for designers. This year, I had the pleasure of sitting in the front row and getting to meet 2015’s three female millennial designers to follow. They’re phenomenal women! Kristine Rodriguez Meet 25 year-old, Colombian-German American, and millennial founder of Responsive Textiles, Kristine Rodriguez. She graduated from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) with a graphic designer degree. It was at RISD that she discovered her passion for fashion design during a knitting elective class. Her knitting is - as Kristine says - “not your grandma’s knitwear.” Now, Kristine is creating knits that are both effortless and sophisticated, wearable and interesting, with shapes you don’t see everyday. It makes sense, considering Kristine’s mission is to create clothes that become our second skin - unique and human. ...

Red Carpet Confidential: The Surprising Way That Gilles Marini Taught His Seven-Year-Old Daughter to Be Responsible
Ok Magazine - about 3 years
Gilles Marini is one sweet dad. The 2 Broke Girls/Switched at Birth star made six-year-old daughter Juliana a “cat mom” in a special way when his family rescued kitten, Penelope. Photos: 10 Celebs Who Look Like Their Pets “I got Penelope for my daughter last Mother’s Day, and I did a date with my daughter the entire day, explaining to her what it is, and how hard it is to be a parent,” the two-time Dancing With The Stars competitor, 37, tells me this week during Fresh Step Litter’s Catdance Film Festival to benefit the ASPCA in Park City, Utah. “When we went home, I asked her ‘would you be ready to be a parent, and take on the responsibilities?,’ and she said ‘yes.’ And I said ‘well, you’re going to start today. Go to your room.’ That’s where Penelope was.” He continues, “My daughter believes this is her first daughter. Their relationship is amazing. She takes care of it seriously. I’m proud of her.” How has the kitten changed her? “More responsibilities. An animal is the n ...

'Dancing With The Stars': Did The Show Suffer This Season?
Huffington Post - about 3 years
The words I have been hoping for since the third week of September were uttered by Tom Bergeron Tuesday night when he handed over the coveted Mirror Ball to Amber Riley and Derek Hough: our new champions of "Dancing With The Stars." Because, honestly, it could've gone either way. Twice a year, I look forward to another season of "Dancing With The Stars" and every time, I'm never disappointed. But for most of Season 17, I was not a happy viewer. Sure, there were some great pairs with touching stories (Valerie Harper and Jack Osbourne), and some nice surprises (Nicole Polizzi is a much better dancer than her former "Jersey Shore" co-star, The Situation) but they were outnumbered by the ridiculous amount of upsets. And while I do not blame Bill Engvall whatsoever (he is pretty darn likeable), I did blame the people who voted for him. I really had no idea that rednecks would outnumber Guidos and Guidettes, "Saved By The Bell" fans and Scientology haters the way they did. The fact that ...

Ralph Macchio's New Film, Across Grace Alley, Proves He's More Than an Actor
Huffington Post - over 3 years
Early in his acting career, Ralph Macchio worked with some of the world's great directors including Francis Ford Coppola (the Outsiders), John Avildsen (Karate Kid), Walter Hill (Crossroads) and Arthur Hiller (Teachers). In a sense, this experience was his film school. "I got to be the young guy hanging around the camera watching these masters at work," explains Macchio. "There was so much downtime as an actor, you'd either hang out in your hotel room or go into town and get into trouble. So I would visit the set and absorb all I could, not just from the directors, but also from the production designer, sound mixer and cinematographer." Learning the nuts and bolts of storytelling served Macchio well. In 2002, he wrote and directed Love Thy Brother, a 9-minute comedy which was shown at Sundance and distributed by HBO. "You write what you know," he explains about the film based on his relationship with his real life brother. And who can forget the hilarious FunnyOrDie.com video, W ...
