Second 'DWTS: All-Stars' Season Unlikely, Says ABC Boss
Huffington Post - about 4 years
PASADENA, Calif. — There's no second act for celebrities on "Dancing With the Stars." ABC Entertainment President Paul Lee said Thursday that was the lesson from the past few months, when the network brought back some favorite contestants from its long-running competition series and the show fell flat. "It turns out people like to see bad dancing as much as they like to see good dancing," Lee said. Melissa Rycroft, a former contestant on "The Bachelor," beat two former winners – Olympian Shawn Johnson and actress Kelly Monaco – to win the show's first all-star edition. Nielsen said its viewership of 14.8 million on Mondays last fall was down 21 percent from the year before. Even worse for ABC, viewership among the younger 18- to 49-year-old demographic was off 31 percent. Lee said it is clear the show's fans enjoy the journey of celebrities learning how to dance. This spring's edition features first-time competitors. The average "Dancing With the Stars" v ...

Brenna Weingus: 'Dancing With The Stars' Recap: Threesomes For All
Huffington Post Sports - over 4 years
Veteran's Day brought out the patriotic side on "Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars" and allowed the seven remaining couples to show off their skills in two routines each. With the upcoming double elimination, the pressure was on for the contestants to give it their all and perform to the fullest. Each couple performed their standard couple routine, but additionally, each was thrown another professional dancer to create a trio performance, making for some very interesting dynamics and unique routines. With the competition heating up, even the judges seemed to be cracking under the pressure. Almost every routine left the judges split and tensions were running high. So who managed to shine? And whose performance was lackluster? Find out below. Brenna Weingus: 'Dancing With The Stars': Shawn Johnson And Mark Ballas Stole The Show During Fusion Week
Huffington Post - over 4 years
After last week's shocking elimination that sent Sabrina packing after earning a perfect thirty, all of the all-stars were on edge and no one felt safe. Due to the election, however, all of the contestants actually were safe this week because there will be no elimination episode (next week will be a double elimination). With the comfort of at least one more week on the stage, the dancers were all able to get creative with their dances. This week's episode was fusion-themed and asked the dancers to combine two very different styles of dance, making for some confusing routines and even more confused dancers. Additionally, "Dancing with the Stars," always current and socially aware, created their own version of negative political ads, with all the all-stars campaigning for the mirrorball trophy (they were actually pretty funny!). So who's the favorite to win? And whose campaign is falling short? Find out below. THE DANCES OF THE NIGHT: var src_url="http://pshared.5min.c ...

Brenna Weingus: An Emotional Night On 'Dancing With The Stars'
Huffington Post - over 4 years
October 29 was Country Night on "Dancing with the Stars" and the all-stars hit the stage with their own personal interpretations of country classics. If you were expecting to see a hoe down or square dance, think again. "DWTS" decided to stick with more traditional ballroom routines but set them to country songs, creating some slightly confused performances and interesting genre fusions. And in case you were wondering, yes, there was a foxtrot set to Dolly Parton, which isn't something you see everyday. Additionally, each all-star got the chance to shine with a brief solo in their performance that showcased their personal talent and growth. But all 8 couples came together for a group routine that not only showed off their skills as a group, but also created a little friendly competition. The judges awarded the couple who they found the most entertaining with two extra points, and with the competition getting more and more heated by the day, all of the pairs were desperate ...

Brenna Weingus: 'DWTS' Recap: Carrie Ann Takes A Tumble
Huffington Post Sports - over 4 years
The performances were not the highlight of the latest episode of "Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars." Instead, it was judge Carrie Ann Inaba's literal fall for Gilles Marini's rumba. But was it worthy of such an over-the-top reaction? var src_url="http://pshared.5min.com/Scripts/PlayerSeed.js?playList=517514657&height=375&width=600&sid=577&videoGroupID=138596&relatedNumOfResults=100&relatedMode=2&relatedBottomHeight=60&companionPos=&hasCompanion=false&autoStart=true&colorPallet=%23ff0000&videoControlDisplayColor=%23ff0000&shuffle=0&continuous=true"; if (typeof(commercial_video) == "object") { src_url += "&siteSection="+commercial_video.site_and_category; if (commercial_video.package) { src_url += "&sponsorship="+commercial_video.package; } } document.write('<scr' + 'ipt type="text/javascript" src="'+src_url+'"></scr' + 'ipt>'); Marini was one half of only four couples who performed during Night ...

Bristol Palin Voted Off Dancing With the Stars: "It Was Hard to Process"
US Magazine - over 4 years
Bristol Palin has no regrets about her short-lived stint on Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars. After the 21-year-old single mom was voted off the ABC reality series October 16, Palin and pro partner Mark Ballas appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to discuss what led to their elimination. "I think I was optimistic about every week. I'd never been in the actual bottom two, so it was hard to process it all, but it is what it is," Palin said. "Good luck to everyone else." PHOTOS: Meet the Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars cast Despite a minor spat earlier this season, Ballas said he was honored to work with the Alaskan native a second time. (They first competed together in 2010 during season 11.) "Every season, at some point, the couples fight. . . It's always over something stupid. This is our second time dancing together. We did our first season a couple years ago and made it all the way to the finals," the 26-year-old said. "For us to get through a season and a third of a season a ...
