NENE Valley Harriers secured local bragging rights when winning the opening match of the Southern League Division One campaign. They won by 12 points from City of Norwich as Peterborough Athletic Club, who won Division Two with a 100 per cent winning record last year, brought up the rear on their Division One debut. Tim Needham’s throwers were in fine form with British Masters champion Andrea Jenkins continuing her excellent start to the season with two wins while Ken Baker also produced a couple of A-string victories as well as a B-string success as he opened his campaign in style. Michelle Tweed won the 200m but had to settle for second in a decent 400m where British Masters indoor silver medallist Kelly Sutton blasted to victory for PAC with June Swift completing an A and B-string double for the club.
