Huffington Post - 3 months
After Donald Trump’s win on Nov. 8, many parents immediately wondered how they would explain to their children what happened.  “It’s hard to be a parent tonight, for many of us,” CNN political commentator Van Jones said during an election night conversation that quickly went viral. “You tell your kids not to be a bully, you tell your kids don’t be a bigot, you tell your kids, do your homework and be prepared. ... How do I explain this to my children?” Now, as the reality of a Trump presidency sets in, concerned parents face a new slew of questions about raising their children in a time of collective change and uncertainty ― not to mention bad behavior being modeled by our highest elected official. Seventy-five percent of Americans with kids under the age of 18 say Trump is not a good role model for children, according to a HuffPost/YouGov poll.  Many parents of children from minority communities have expressed particularly strong concerns. Spitzer To Leno: 'Wall Street Desperately Wants Me To Lose'
Huffington Post - over 3 years
NEW YORK — Eliot Spitzer, whose 2008 resignation as New York's governor amid a prostitution scandal provided no shortage of fuel for gibes to late-night TV comics, ventured into the lion's den Friday, appearing on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." Spitzer appeared on Leno's show in California less than 24 hours after a four-day flurry of canvassing for 3,750 valid petitions to run for city comptroller – submitting over 27,000 petitions to the city Board of Elections late Thursday night ahead of a midnight deadline. And Leno, who has poked at Spitzer's reentrance to New York City's politics since the former attorney general announced Sunday he was running to be the city's comptroller, asked him straight up: "Why enter at the 11th hour?" Spitzer said that after all he'd done in the past five years he finally thought, "You know what, there's a position there, which I've written about, thought about, the Controller's position, from which I think I can actually serv ...

Will Spitzer Have Enough Ballot Signatures By Thursday?
Huffington Post - over 3 years
NEW YORK — Eliot Spitzer's 11th-hour comeback campaign isn't just a race to the finish. It's a sprint to the start. After plunging into city comptroller's race Monday, the scandal-scarred ex-governor has only until midnight Thursday to collect 3,750 valid petition signatures to get on the Democratic primary ballot for September. "It's going to be a tough burden," he said, clipboard and petition in hand, at his first campaign appearance Monday, though he has since said he's comfortable his campaign will meet the requirement. As the clock ticked Wednesday, spokeswoman Lisa Linden said the campaign was "diligently gathering signatures" and declined to comment further. Experts say it's a formidable, but achievable, task in such a narrow timeframe. "That's the real challenge, the four days," said Jerry Skurnik, a longtime New York Democratic consultant who isn't working with Spitzer. "It could be done, if they spend enough money and they're really organized." ...

Kristin Davis Ran One Of The Most Successful Escort Services Ever On 'My Life Is A Lifetime Movie' (VIDEO)
The Huffington Post - over 4 years
After losing her job at a hedge fund, and with her mother’s medical bills mounting, Kristin Davis needed money fast. As profiled on "My Life Is a Lifetime Movie," Davis recruited girls, put an ad in New York magazine and grew from there, becoming the Manhattan Madam and running one of the most successful high-priced escort services ever. "There was a waiting list of girls that wanted to work for me," Davis said, including some cover models. "I went wow, maybe I’m running a successful business, when that girl’s on a billboard and she works for me." Soon enough, Davis started renting out five locations in New York City for her business “Wicked Models”, which later expanded to Philadelphia, D.C., and other cities. Katherine LaGrave: Sex and the City's Biggest Star
Huffington Post - over 4 years
Ninety-four episodes, eight Golden Globes, two movies and years later, it's safe to say we know the leading ladies and golden girls of Darren Star's famed HBO drama Sex and the City: writer Carrie, played by Sarah Jessica Parker; lawyer Miranda, played by Cynthia Nixon; art historian Charlotte, played by Kristin Davis; and publicist Samantha Jones, played by Kim Cattrall. But perhaps the show's most alluring and timeless star? New York City itself. To New Yorkers and many other people on the planet it's clear that making "City" a proper noun in the show's title is the only way to tip a tiny, tiny hat to the intoxicating and exciting premise* that is New York. It's so big it doesn't fit in words or onto postcards. It's so big it's not just a regular noun. As writer Marilyn J. Appleberg once wrote, "More than anything, New York City is a city of superlatives." But what if the cosmopolitans were verres de vin, and the ad for Carrie's column was on the side of a double-decker ...
