“Dancing with the Stars” Week 8 (5/7/12): The Double Elimination Stage is Set!
Current Movie News - almost 5 years
“Dancing with the Stars” week 8 kicks off with the announcement of a dance trio as well as the double elimination tomorrow night as this season heads into the semi finals next week. Who shines and who shutters? This is what is happening tonight~ ROUND 1 (INDIVIDUAL TEAM DANCE) The first team to hit the dance floor this evening is Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd with a tango to please even the most pessimistic critic with great frame and crisper movements than we’ve ever seen from Mr. Driver in the past. The song is “Higher Ground” by Stevie Wonder. Personally, I was not overly moved by this performance but it seems the judges are as Len Goodman almost jumps out of his seat and the entire panel is all smiles, but enthusiasm is not enough to give them any tens with the scores as: Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 9, and Bruno – 9 for a total of 27. Love but not quite over the top as they take the lead tonight. You can vote for them at 800-868-3403 so make your six votes allowed tonight count! ...

All-star dancers reveal how they maintain their rock-hard bods By:  Tiffany Tse As Lady Foot Locker’s brand ambassador (and former Dancing With the Stars cast member), Lacey Schwimmer knows what it takes to keep her body in top shape. The dancer/singer keeps her legs toned at home by doing toe rises, known as “releves” in the ballet world. The simple exercise effectively targets your calves, thighs, and glutes. “Stand by a nearby wall, bar, or table for balance and put one of your ankles to your opposite knee,” Schwimmer says. “Rise up on one foot as high as you can go, then come back down.” Do this 50 times total, but alternate feet after 3 reps. Make sure to point your toes of the lifted foot and stretch when you're finished! “This will prevent injury and help your muscles heal faster and grow stronger,” ...

'Dancing With the Stars' results recap: Sherri Shepherd eliminated
LATimes - almost 5 years
Well, “Dancing With the Stars” fans knew we were in for an unexpected end when the lowest judges’ point scorers from Monday night, Gladys Knight and Tristan McManus, and the couple who had endured two weeks straight of being in the bottom two, Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff, were deemed safe (not even in jeopardy!) early on in the results hour. Also deemed safe early on were Melissa Gilbert and Maks Chmerkovskiy, though the actress is still recovering. Melissa accidentally whacked her head on Maks’ left leg while attempting a turn during Monday night’s performance, sending Maks crumbling to the floor and giving Melissa a concussion. Singer, songwriter, and knight in shiny armor and guyliner Gavin DeGraw came to the ailing Maks’ rescue, helping to carry Melissa to a couch backstage before she was rushed to a hospital. Melissa wisely eschewed the sequins after being told to take a rest day from her doctor, but Maks was there, spray tanned for the both of them, to represent. Also ...
