PR Pioneer Daniel Edelman Dies In Chicago At 92
Huffington Post - about 4 years
NEW YORK -- Daniel J. Edelman, who built one of the world's top public relations companies and pioneered celebrity endorsements and media tours, has died at age 92. Edelman is credited with developing many of the methods now standard in the field, after transforming the firm he started more than 60 years ago with two people into a global marketing force with more than 4,500 employees in 66 offices worldwide. His son Richard Edelman said he died of heart failure on Tuesday at a Chicago hospital. Richard Edelman, president and CEO of the Edelman firm, said his father was "a marketing and public relations genius, because he really understood that PR could sell brands." The firm's clients include Microsoft, Pfizer, Wal-Mart and Royal Dutch Shell. Daniel Edelman, a New York City native and Columbia University journalism school graduate, worked as a reporter and editor for newspapers in Poughkeepsie, about 75 miles north. He was drafted into the Army during Wor ...

LINDSAY LOHAN AND VIKRAM CHATWAL: LIFE IS A DREAM
Faded Tribune - almost 5 years
It was date night for Lindsay Lohan and rumoured beau Vikram Chatwal in New York City on Thursday night (May 10). Posing arm in arm, the hit up the Dream Downtown hotel in the Meatpacking District to check out the Domingo Zapata “Life Is A Dream” Art Exhibition. This is the second time Lindsay has been romantically linked to wealthy hotelier Vikram. (He owns the Dream Downtown hotel.) Last fall, the two were rumored to be dating, with Lindsay getting into a heated argument with Vikram’s wife. They later separated. Meanwhile, it appears Lindsay is taking her role as Elizbeth Taylor in an upcoming Lifetime film about the screen legend very seriously. The Chicago Sun-Times has the dish: Guess Lindsay Lohan has been hearing the sarcastic “Last Chance Lohan” cracks from a few Hollywood honchos — noting she better not bomb in her upcoming Lifetime film about screen legend Elizabeth Taylor. LiLo knows that all eyes will be on her performance to see if she still “has it.” T ...

Liz Smith: Chelsea Handler--Is That Vodka Talking Trash About Angelina Jolie?
Huffington Post - almost 5 years
"HE was the beau ideal of the public intellectual!" said Vanity Fair's Graydon Carter at the memorial for writer Christopher Hitchens last Friday afternoon. Hitchens was the world's best-known and voluble atheist. And a group where many loved, disapproved of and envied gathered to say goodbye. The historic Cooper Union hasn't rung with the presence of such a group of haut intellectuals in the many years since Abraham Lincoln spoke there in 1860. And it was the voice of Christopher Hitchens, in his own words, that pierced the hall as over 35 luminaries in the writing, poetry, friendship and family game re-quoted and stimulated us with excerpts from his writings and sayings. And reminded us of who he really was. There wasn't a prayer, bowed head, overly sentimental word said for over two-and-a-half hours. The audience was vast and some of it was famous itself. VIPs abounded, summoned by Vanity Fair. It seemed there wasn't an empty seat in the house except for those i ...

Back: Barry Perkins, Anton Cruz and Trent St. Louis It has already been more than a year since the passing of Elizabeth Taylor (March 23, 2011). Although she was of my mother’s age and generation, she managed to stay in the limelight her entire life. There are many things that were extraordinary about Elizabeth Taylor. Elizabeth Taylor is probably best remembered as a big movie star with a career that stretched over a period of many decades. She was one of the highest paid, most sought after and biggest box office draws during her movie career. She had a beauty that was internationally admired and she was always in the spotlight fo ...
