Mike Ragogna: Live At Billy Bob's Texas: A Conversation With Billy Joe Shaver
Huffington Post - over 4 years
A Conversation With Billy Joe Shaver Mike Ragogna: Hey there, Billy Joe, how are you? Billy Joe Shaver: I'm doing real well. MR: Hey, "Old Five And Dimers" is one of the great songs that you've written, but you're also known for many other classics, many of which appear on your new album, Live At Billy Bob's Texas. Did you feel like it was time to put a project together that revisited them? BJS: No, I got approached by Frank Jackson. He's a Christian friend of mine, a good ol' boy. He runs that. He approached me about doing it and said Willie had done it. I said, "Well, it's about time. I do it because I have a real cracker-jack band anyways, they're really good. BJS: Well, yeah, and it's fun to play there because of the people that work there, all the staff. I guess they require ...

HOLLYWOOD has long been captivated by the tango, the torrid dance aptly described as ''a vertical expression of a horizontal desire.'' Born in the bars and brothels of late-19th-century Buenos Aires, the tango smoldered its way into the chic ballrooms of pre-World War I Europe and New York, eventually landing on Hollywood movie sets. She was the oldest of five girls. After graduating from the University of Buenos Aires with an MBA and minor in English she became the marketing director of W. & Associates. This is not as rare as it sounds, since Tango is usually practiced in Buenos Aires, and not as much elsewhere in Argentina. Duvall and Pedraza have been active supporters of Pro Mujer, a non-profit charity organization dedicated to helping Latin America's poorest women (with Duvall and Pedraza concentrating on Pedraza's home of northern Argentina) help themselves through micro-credit, business training and health care links.
