San Francisco's new blacklist
San Francisco Chronicle - about 3 years
The Hollywood blacklist, according to Wikipedia, is the term for "the mid-20th-century practice of denying employment to screenwriters, actors, directors, musicians, and other U.S. entertainment professionals because of their suspected political beliefs or associations." Last week actress Maria Conchita Alonso resigned her role in a Mission District Spanish-language production of "The Vagina Monologues" after pro-illegal immigration activists threatened a boycott. [...] pro-illegal immigration groups are going after Alonso, a legal immigrant who is sympathetic with some of their goals, because she supports a white guy who is a gung-ho opponent of illegal immigration. Nuance is not welcome in this controversy, as the war against Alonso signals that good Latinos must not distinguish between legal and illegal immigration. Perhaps if Alonso renounces Donnelly, activists will welcome the actress to the San Francisco stage, where she can engage in oh-so-tolerant progressives' favorite fo ...

Former FIFA presidential candidate Mohamed bin Hammam's appeal against a life ban opens Wednesday at sport's highest court. ||| Geneva - Former FIFA presidential candidate Mohamed bin Hammam's appeal against a life ban from football for allegedly bribing voters during his challenge to Sepp Blatter opens Wednesday at sport's highest court. The Court of Arbitration for Sport has scheduled two full days to examine evidence surrounding Bin Hammam's campaign trip to Trinidad last May. FIFA's judicial bodies expelled the Asian Football Confederation president from world football, using whistleblower testimony from Caribbean officials who said they were offered envelopes stuffed with $40 000 in $100 bills. Maria Conchita Alonso Sticks to Calling Sean Penn a Communist, Apologizes for Using Profanity
Fox News - over 5 years
They had a steamy sex scene when they co-starred together in the 1988 flick “Colors,” but these days, the closest María Conchita Alonso and Sean Penn get is cursing each other out at the airport. The actors had jaws a-dropping at the American Airlines lost luggage area in LAX on Sunday after the Cuban-born Alonso approached Penn to question why he advocated support for controversial Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. According to Alonso, the argument intensified to the point where Penn, who had returned to the country from Haiti, called his former on-screen love interest “a pig,” to which she responded: “And you are a communist a**hole! It is great to live the way you do as a communist!” A rep for Penn did not respond to a request for comment regarding the incident, but told the New York Post that a “hostile woman was nonsensically berating” him.
