The Rhino Records Story Takes Shape Part 4: Andy Kaufman and the Birth of Rhino Home Video
Huffington Post - over 3 years
With his long blond hair, beard and pale skin, Martin Marguiles -- who went by the name Johnny Legend -- could pass for Yosemite Sam's svelte brother. In the early days of the Rhino Records label we issued a 12-inch EP, pressed on "Blood Red Vinyl" of notorious ex-professional wrestler Fred Blassie's "Pencil Neck Geek," which Martin had co-written and co-produced based around a catchphrase of Blassie's. Martin and his wife, Linda Lautrec, co-wrote and co-directed an hour parody of the 1981 feature film My Dinner With Andre, shot on video at Sambo's Restaurant in downtown Los Angeles. Whereas Andre presented an intellectual conversation about the theatre and the philosophy of life, My Breakfast with Blassie depicted comedian Andy Kaufman and Freddie Blassie improvising a dialogue about mundane things, like discovering that they both were germ phobic to the extent that they carried Handi Wipes. The program had value, but Martin had difficulty in getting anybody to buy it. He suggested ...

There are only two episodes left until the "Two and a Half Men" season finale, which will feature a very familiar face as Walden's new girlfriend. Scratch that, two very familiar faces as Walden's new girlfriends. In "Cow, Prepare to be Tipped," Hilary Duff guest stars as Stacey, Walden's (Ashton Kutcher) 22-year-old girlfriend ... but it's her grandmother, played by "Taxi" veteran (and current "Celebrity Apprentice" star) Marilu Henner, who ultimately catches Walden's eye. Meanwhile, Alan (Jon Cryer) and Jake (Angus T. Jones) go on a father-son bonding trip. The "Two and a Half Men" Season 10 finale airs Thursday, May 9 at 8:31 p.m. ET. CBS has yet to order a new season of the long-running comedy, but it is in talks with studio Warner Bros. to continue the series. Click through the gallery below to see photos from upcoming episodes. REVEALED: Why Some Brains Remember 'Everything'
Huffington Post - over 4 years
By: Megan Gannon, News Editor Published: 07/31/2012 02:30 PM EDT on LiveScience Can you remember what you ate for lunch on March 8, 1999? What about what you were wearing on Oct. 29, 1985? A handful of people — only 33 confirmed to date — can remember such minutiae, recalling almost every moment of their lives after about age 10 in near-perfect detail. They have what scientists call a highly superior autobiographical memory, and now researchers have identified what makes their brains special. Researchers at University of California, Irvine (UCI) studied 11 people with the condition and flagged distinct quirks in nine structures of their brains. Most of those differences, unsurprisingly, were in areas associated with autobiographical memory. The participants also had more robust white matter linking the middle and front parts of the brain compared with a group of control subjects. Documenting these brain anomalies gives scientists a "descriptive, coherent story of w ...

Martina McBride Says 'Marry Me' Makes Her Nostalgic About Her Wedding Day
KNCI 105.1 - almost 5 years
Frederick Breedon, Getty Images Before last month’s ACM Awards, Martina McBride was asked to provide a photo from her wedding for a feature in People. The singer and Train‘s Pat Monahan sang a duet of ‘Marry Me’ at the April 1 red carpet event, during which a couple married live on stage. McBride says there would be a lot of do-overs if she were to plan to do her own wedding — 200-guest, spring ceremony — again. “I was pretty easy going,” McBride says when asked if she was anything close to a Bridezilla. “I had the bridesmaids carry candles down the aisle… it was tacky. I’m telling you, my wedding, when I look back at it, it was fine for the day but looking back — I mean they carried little hurricane lanterns that were surrounded by fake flowers, and I don’t know. I would do things a lot differently now.” Her three daughters giggle when they see the now 24-year-old photos. The singer joked with Taste of Country about her hair on her wedding day, but truth be told, it’s her hus ...
