Michael John Attenborough is an English theatre director. His parents are the actors Richard Attenborough and Sheila Sim (Lord and Lady Attenborough). Since he is the child of a peer, he is entitled to the courtesy title The Honourable. He is the recipient of two Honorary Doctorates, from the Universities of Leicester and Sussex, where he is also Honorary Professor of English.
