US Magazine - about 3 years
Evil has a name, and it's Jesse Eisenberg. The Social Network star, 30, has been tapped to play Superman's archenemy Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder's much-anticipated Superman/Batman movie, starring Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck in the title roles, Warner Bros. Pictures announced Friday, Jan. 31. Also joining the A-list cast? Oscar winner Jeremy Irons, who'll play Bruce Wayne's trusted valet Alfred Pennyworth. PHOTOS: Stars as superheroes "Lex Luthor is often considered the most notorious of Superman's rivals, his unsavory reputation preceding him since 1940," director Snyder said in a press release about the casting. "What's great about Lex is that he exists beyond the confines of the stereotypical nefarious villain. He's a complicated and sophisticated character whose intellect, wealth, and prominence position him as one of the few mortals able to challenge the incredible might of Superman." He continued: "Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore that interesting dynamic, and ...

IT Services Company Takes 'Moneyball' Hiring To The Next Level
Business Insider - over 3 years
There are several factors that can influence your hiring decision when interviewing candidates, such as the impression you get during an interview or what's on their resumes. Unfortunately, relying too heavily on either doesn't always result in the perfect fit for your company. Burned too many times, some employers are now using research and analytics to predict the best person for the job. Michael Rosenbaum, president and founder Catalyst IT services, began using the "Moneyball" method in 2001 as part of his company's hiring strategy. The term Moneyball originates from a statistical method that the Oakland Athletics baseball team used to build a winning team on a smaller budget by identifying undervalued talent. Rosenbaum did the same thing and relied more on the analysis of metrics than what was on a person's resume, and it worked to help him increase retention rates and hire better talent and. By analyzing up to 2,000 data points on a person, Rosenbaum says he can even know when ...

MTV News - about 4 years
"Guardians of the Galaxy might not have a cast yet, but it does have a filming location. The upcoming Marvel Studios film is slated to shoot at Shepperton Studios in the UK. Screen Daily has the location news, and has learned that the movie is slated to start filming over the summer. That means that all those casting rumors we've heard about in recent weeks will likely come to a head in the next few months. "Thor: The Dark World" was also filmed primarily in the UK, though it did head to Iceland for some scenes. Shepperton Studios is part of the Pinewood Group, which is where the "Thor" sequel shot as well. Also due to shoot there soon are "The Muppets 2" and a live-action version of "Cinderella," Screen Daily reports. Kristen Bell, Dax Shepard Used Craiglist to Find Nude Hit and Run Extras
US Magazine - over 4 years
Hit and Run is a true labor of love for Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell. "We actually enjoy spending time together," Bell, 32, said on TODAY August 22. "Our shooting schedules take us to different cities and they separate us for 15 hours a day. When he shoots Parenthood [for NBC], I shoot House of Lies [for Showtime], so to have an excuse to shoot together and work together was a real treat." PHOTOS: How Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard fell in love Shepard, 37, wrote the comedy, which he also co-directed with David Palmer. With Bell's assistance, the two enlisted the help of A-list pals Bradley Cooper, 37, Kristin Chenoweth, 44, Tom Arnold, 53, Joy Bryant, 35, Michael Rosenbaum, 40, and Ryan Hansen, 31. "Dax wrote this in six weeks. We just called all of our friends and said, 'Anybody have a couple days this summer?'" Bell explained. "Who else would we put in? They were our first choices." When the time came to hire extras -- including a group of nude elders -- Shepard used a ...

Marshall Fine: Review: Hit & Run
Huffington Post - over 4 years
The title of Dax Shepard's Hit & Run doesn't really make sense, given the movie itself. If it implies car chases, well, that's accurate -- but, again, it's not about accidents. The only thing accidental here is that this movie got made -- and they seem to have done that on purpose. Why? Apparently, to give Shepard a chance to work with his pals -- Bradley Cooper, David Koechner, Tom Arnold -- and his wife (Kristin Bell), while directing a movie himself (in tandem with pal David Palmer). To what end? The chases aren't particularly thrilling, though they seem to be the whole point of the movie. Though the movie offers muscle cars operating at unsafe speed, the chases themselves seem flat and mundane, much like Shepard and Palmer's filmmaking. Shepard plays Charlie Bronson, who lives in California farm country with his girlfriend, a local college professor named Annie (Bell). As it turns out, Charlie is in the witness protection program -- but that doesn't stop him f ...

Dan Rather: Thoughts on Mike
Huffington Post - almost 5 years
If you want to know the key to how television news is supposed to work, I offer you the example of Michael Rosenbaum, for decades a dear friend and colleague who lost his battle with brain cancer this past Thursday. He had just turned 64, still so young with so much to offer. Mike was what you call in the news business a producer. It's a general job title that is difficult to explain to those outside of the industry, and even for those of us inside it. A producer basically does what it takes, often whatever it may take, to get the work done, to get the story told. And Mike was one of the best. Whether stateside or overseas, particularly during his time in the volatile Middle East, Mike knew how to navigate through minefields both literal and rhetorical. As a correspondent, you are dependent on producers like Mike to be partners in reporting. Trust is essential and often they have to do much of the legwork on their own. When my calendar showed I would be working with Mi ...
