The Surprising Casualty Of The Financial Crisis
Huffington Post - almost 5 years
By Michelle Conlin May 24 (Reuters) - The financial crisis and its aftermath have been brutal for Wall Street's richest and most powerful women. The latest casualty: Ina Drew, the head of JPMorgan Chase's chief investment office, who departed last week after the bank suffered mammoth trading losses. An analysis by Reuters of the proxy statements from the five largest U.S. banks shows that of the 25 executives whose pay is disclosed - updated for some recent changes - only three, or 12 percent, are women. That's down from five, or 20 percent, at the end of 2007. At the three biggest banks - JP Morgan Chase & Co, Bank of America Corp and Citigroup Inc - there is now only one woman in the upper echelons: JP Morgan Chase's asset management chief, Mary Callahan Erdoes. At the end of 2007 there were two. Among the top 10 banks, the aggregate numbers are a little better, but the percentages are not. Fi ...

New Trailer for The Man Inside
HeyUGuys.co.uk - almost 5 years
Following last year’s supernatural thriller Stormhouse writer/director Dan Turner’s new film, The Man Inside, has an altogether more down to Earth feel, and this punchy new trailer is a very promising first impression. Ashley Bashy Thomas leads this story of a young man coming to terms with a violent past and a brutal relationship with his Father, in what looks to be a menacing turn by David Harewood (who is in fine form on HBO’s Homeland of late), with the help of boxing trainer Peter Mullan. The trailer we have today paints a bleak portrait of the young man in a desperate struggle to find his feet and take a different road to the one laid out before him. From what we can see here the boxing scenes have a suitably vicious momentum and the surrounding drama looks to just as gripping. Having Harewood and Mullan in the mix with the young cast, including Jason Maza and Michelle Ryan, should give the film something special.  A summer release is planned. Here’s a synopsis, Clayton ...

Ryan affected an American accent for the role of Jaime Sommers, except in the episode "The Education of Jaime Sommers" in which her character goes undercover as an English transfer student at a university; for this episode, she spoke in an Oxfordshire accent instead of her natural London accent. She has had professional dance training and attributed it to helping her with the physically demanding stunts required for the show. She also learned Krav Maga and sign language for the part (the latter because, as originally conceived, Ryan's character was to have had a hearing impaired sister, but this story element was abandoned). Ryan stated the show's cancellation came about because it kept changing direction, and stated it led to her being less ambitious about her career. "I'm more go-with-the-flow now", she said.
