Details of his godparents, chosen by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, were announced by Kensington Palace ahead of the small and intimate service at the Chapel Royal at St James's Palace. PHOTOS: The Royal Baby Watch Is In Full Swing
Huffington Post - over 3 years
By Belinda Goldsmith LONDON, July 8 (Reuters) - Photographers are camped outside the hospital, social media are buzzing, and stores are touting baby goods ahead of the expected arrival this week of the future heir to the British throne. Britain is officially on baby watch with Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton awaiting the imminent arrival of their first child who will be third in line to the throne. The couple, known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge since their sumptuous royal wedding in April 2011, announced last December that a baby was on its way after Kate was admitted to hospital for four days suffering from severe morning sickness. With the due date looming, the duchess stopped official duties last month while Prince William, a helicopter search-and-rescue pilot and grandson of Queen Elizabeth, is on standby at an air force base in north Wales to rush back to London. ...

David Warner: how a weird Walkabout bar spat stumped Australia
Guardian (UK) - almost 4 years
Punch at English rising star Joe Root in Birmingham bar piles pressure on failing tourists and adds tinder to Ashes series They are in a dire run of form, their media have turned on them, their former players have been openly critical and now one of Australia's star batsmen has been dropped after launching an unprovoked attack against an England cricketer in the early hours of Sunday morning in a Birmingham theme pub. David Warner, one of several Australian cricketers under pressure before the Champions Trophy one-day tournament and back-to-back Ashes series, threw a punch at the English rising star Joe Root and struck him with what was described as a "glancing blow" following a late-night altercation over a fancy dress wig. The green and gold wig can now be filed alongside posters for a "Mad Midget Weekend" in Queenstown (Mike Tindall, Rugby World Cup 2011), a pedalo in the Caribbean (Andrew Flintoff, Cricket World Cup 2007) and a dentist's chair from a Hong Kong bar (Teddy Sherin ...

A royal on the course: Queen's granddaughter Zara Phillips named to UK Olympic equestrian team
Fox News - almost 5 years
One thing is often said about Queen Elizabeth II's oldest granddaughter, Zara Phillips: she thrives under pressure. It's about to be a very useful skill. The 14th in line for the British throne has defied the odds, clawing her way to a spot on the British Olympic equestrian team after a strong performance last weekend at Bramham in northeast England. "She brings a unique ability to deal with pressure," said Jimmy Wofford, a U.S. expert on eventing, the three-part event that Phillips competes in. "I wouldn't want the lifestyle that produced it, but our format these days guarantees a cliffhanger finish ... You have to have Sunday afternoon nerve." The grueling sport combines the precise balletic movements of dressage, the athletic display of show jumping and the endurance and speed needed for cross country courses. Only a few weeks ago, the 31-year-old was widely considered to be a long shot to make the strong squad. Britain's sodden spring had led to the cancellation ...

PHOTOS: The Diamond Jubilee Concert Includes, Like, Everyone In England
Huffington Post - almost 5 years
A giant boat parade is cool (ok, totally awesome). But after the soggy barge pageant Londoners endured on Sunday, it must be nice to cozy up in Buckingham Palace for an intimate concert... with 10,000 other people. Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee concert, which is happening right now (see the livestream here), was organized by the BBC and Gary Barlow and includes basically every major UK star: Cheryl Cole, Kylie Minogue, Grace Jones, Annie Lennox, Madness, Cliff Richard, Shirley Bassey, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Tom Jones, Jessie J, Ed Sheeran... and many more we've never heard of. Because truth be told, we're more psyched about the famous faces in the audience rather than onstage. Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife (and total fashion plate) Samantha are sitting "in executive company" near Zara Phillips, Queen Elizabeth II's granddaughter, and her husband Mike Tindall, as well as princesses Beatrice & Eugenie. On 28 November 2011 the appeal partly succeeded. Tindall's suspension from the England squad was set aside and the fine was reduced to £15,000. On 7 December 2007 against Bourgoin in the Heineken Cup, Tindall limped off the field with a severe shin injury sustained in a similar tackle from that against Newcastle the previous season when Tindall broke his leg.
More Details Hide Details Despite this injury, Tindall recovered quickly and played the following week, continuing his form for Gloucester.
In October 2007, after recovering from injury, Tindall returned to the Gloucester Rugby starting line up, against Worcester Warriors at home, in the Guinness Premiership.
More Details Hide Details Tindall had a fairytale comeback, scoring a try to the Shed's delight. More Details Hide Details
In April 2007 playing away against Newcastle Falcons in the Guinness Premiership, Tindall broke his leg in a tackle on Toby Flood and this forced him to miss the rest of the season, including the Guinness Premiership final, where his leadership would have been critical in a young backline.

After returning from injury in the autumn of 2005, Tindall regained his England place but this time at number 12.
More Details Hide Details However at club level he continued to play at 13 with the 12 shirt going to Henry Paul. The partnership was heavily criticised as being flat and boring and Tindall spent much of the season showing a poor run of form despite selection week in, week out. It wasn't until an incident at Tindall's girlfriend's birthday party that Henry Paul broke club rules and fell out of favour with Gloucester Rugby coach, Dean Ryan. This brought in the introduction of young centre Anthony Allen, which towards the end of the season helped forge what became the start of a very powerful centre partnership. His partnership with Jamie Noon for England was much criticised, with many people claiming that the bulky partnership lacked imagination and play-making ability. Tindall has a strong cult following however, and is often nicknamed "The Fridge" due to his sizeable bulk.
Described by England's former head coach, Andy Robinson, as the 'heartbeat' of the side, Tindall was gradually finding his way back to form following a lengthy absence from the game during 2005.
More Details Hide Details Tindall's contract was up for renewal, but Bath had a strict salary cap policy. After falling out with Bath owner Andrew Brownsword over the offer of an early testimonial game and further concerns over his long term fitness, Tindall ended his eight-year association with Bath. He joined their West Country rivals Gloucester Rugby on a three-year deal worth £150,000.
Tindall missed the 2005 Six Nations with a foot injury.
More Details Hide Details He was unable to regain his fitness for the British and Irish Lions tour to New Zealand.

Despite criticism over the years, in particular from Will Carling and ex-Bath fly-half Stuart Barnes, he cemented the outside centre position as his own with a partnership with inside centre Will Greenwood, playing in the 2003 Rugby World Cup.
More Details Hide Details Tindall played in the number 12 jersey and played at outside centre, with Greenwood in the number 13. The shirt numbers often misled people into thinking they played the other way round, but Tindall usually lined up outside Greenwood, as the latter preferred to wear the number 13 jersey for superstitious reasons. He was dropped for the semi-final in favour of Mike Catt, whose kicking was required in the rainy weather. Tindall was reinstated in the final, in which England were victorious.
