'Love Jones: The Musical' Is A Theatrical Spin On A Classic '90s Love Story
Huffington Post - 6 months
Nearly 20 years after its big screen release, “Love Jones” is receiving a theatrical makeover with “Love Jones: The Musical.” The national tour, which stars an all-star cast featuring Tony Grant (as Darius Lovehall), and singers Chrisette Michelle (as Nina Mosley), Musiq Soulchild, Marsha Ambrosius, MC Lyte, Raheem Devaughn and Dave Hollister, is a musical adaptation of the 1997 film. Dubbed as “a hip ‘When Harry Met Sally,’” the romantic comedy follows a young poet, Darius Lovehall (portrayed by Larenz Tate), and photographer Nina Mosley (portrayed by Nia Long) as they navigate their emotions for one another in Chicago. While the essence of the film’s plot around Nina and Darius’ relationship is incorporated into the new musical production, veteran theater producer Melvin Childs chose to revamp the plot with additional characters, chart-topping hits, and original music to adhere to stage limitations. “There’s lots of different characters in this stage play that you didn’ ...

Killiam Shakespeare Scores Major Points With Debut Album
Huffington Post - about 1 year
I went to band camp. I'm no flautist, so we're okay there, but the five summers I spent at Encore/Coda, tucked away in the hamlet of Sweden, Maine, were some of the best times of my life. This one time, I had a counselor named Corey Bernhard, an unassuming badass on both the piano and the basketball court. Corey's quiet confidence preceded him - he was equally at home sinking jumper after jumper or taking kids to school in ensembles of any genre. It's no surprise, then, that his band, a joint effort with drummer and producer Steve McKie, exudes some those same qualities: Killiam Shakespeare's debut, out December 18th on Ropeadope Records, is flowing with nuance, texture and patience. I sat down with the pair to discuss their recording process, being comfortable in Philadelphia and the finer points of cheesesteakery. The duo has been making music for others for quite some time, as Corey recounts, "I met Steve playing in Bilal's band... for a good three to four years we were just t ...

Huffington Post - almost 5 years
Since the beginning of time, mankind has longed to interpret dreams. Wars have been waged in fulfillment of dreams. Soldiers have believed in the promise of greatness brought forth in visions. Pharaohs have sought out and promoted men into power and position because they were told it would prolong their reign. This thing we call dreams has created opportunities, jobs, and careers for modern day man. We have increasingly seen their role in our society expand -- tarot card readers, palm readers, mediums are some of the names they are given today.
