Boy George In UK Gay Art Show
Outtake - over 3 years
Boy George is exhibiting his artwork in London as part of Platform Six a non-profit arts organization that opened its doors to their first collective featuring LGBT artwork by emerging & established artists. Also in the show are are Carl Hopgood, DNA Factory, James Tailor, Layla Lyons, Lewis Burton, Rolina Blok, Victor Ivanov, William Baker & Judy Blame. Platform Six founder James Tailor who curated the exhibition stated, “There is so much more to LGBT artists than simply their sexuality, however that is what many exhibitions seem to focus on & a lot of the work itself is highly sexualized & falls into a now well-known stereotype. The Platform Six exhibition takes LGBT art out of the context of sex & while some of the works displayed may contain nudity, the work itself deals with themes such as non-conformity, identity & vulnerability.” There will also be a special auction to benefit the UK LGBT organization Stonewall. For the auction Platform Six has joined for ...

Noel Fielding: rocking a new look
Guardian (UK) - about 4 years
The Mighty Boosh star Noel Fielding goes glam to relive the golden years of Bowie, Brian Eno and the rest "People are so boring these days," says Noel Fielding as he hoists himself into his Eno bell-bottoms, slips on an orange wig and struts with a guitar. Fielding, surrealist comic, painter and dandy, is recreating the glam rock 1970s. Just watching his bonkers sitcom The Mighty Boosh, or seeing him coyly flirting with Russell Brand on The Big Fat Quiz Of The Year, you know this must be his era. Fielding is rarely seen without a splash of makeup, big heels and even bigger hair. Actually, he says, it's his parents' era. They were in their late teens when he was born, adored Bowie and Bolan, wore tight tank tops and flares, and showed him the way sartorially. They were more like an older brother and sister when he was young. He'd come down in the morning for his cereal and have to climb over dozens of post-party bodies. No, he says, of course he didn't like it. It made him inhibited ...

Oliver Cross: Hirst for publicity
Yorkshire Evening Post - almost 5 years
THE closest I’ve come to fabulous riches was when I discovered that Damien Hirst went to the same school – Allerton Grange High in Leeds – as my eldest son, although, which is a bit of a spoiler, not at the same time. Still, I’ve always, as a result, pictured Hirst as a schoolboy, even though he’s now aged 46 and balding. Others do the same; on an extended Channel 4 plug for his new retrospective exhibition at the Tate Modern in London, both the presenter, the irritating sycophant Noel Fielding, and his fellow sycophant, drippy Ronnie Wood, described Hirst as like a naughty child – as if that might be a good thing. Actually, Hirst, who said his obsession with death started when he was seven, seems to think of himself as a naughty child too. His reaction to winning a Turner prize in 1995 was to say that it showed what you can do with “an E in A-level art, a twisted imagination and a chainsaw” – but how is an imagination formed by a seven-year-old’s first discovery of death ‘twiste ...

A Very Merry Christmas With Kasabian And Noel Fielding - Inside This Week's NME (Dec 17)
NME - about 5 years
Without wanting to blow our own trumpet with too much seasonal vigour, we think it says a lot about our 2011 NME Christmas issue cast list that getting Cliff Richard to do our 'Does Christmas Kill Braincells?' quiz isn't quite the highlight of the issue. For lo, we got Kasabian to unwrap the most madcap festive gift of all: <a class="fplink fp-625328" href="/noel+fielding"><a class="fplink fp-625328" href="/noel+fielding">Noel Fielding</a></a>, who's back to bring the craziness the world needs more than ever. In our feature the trio talk about how they'd reinvent Christmas (they want He-Man to deliver presents instead of Santa), plus give us the shimmy on Noel's new TV show <a class="fplink fp-625328" href="/noel+fielding"><a class="fplink fp-625328" href="/noel+fielding">Noel Fielding</a></a>'s Luxury Comedy, for which Serge has made the soundtrack. Oh, and did we mention that for the piece the Kasabian lads literally wrapped Noel in Xmas paper? It's worth a look, to say the least. ...

Fielding is best known for playing the role of Vince Noir, a childlike eccentric, opposite Julian Barratt (Howard Moon) in the cult comedy series The Mighty Boosh. Fielding met Barratt when he was performing a gig. Impressed by Fielding's skill, Barratt offered him a place to perform, and the two went on to form a partnership. Barratt and Fielding are said to have compared their relationship to a marriage; the character of Vince Noir is a kind, somewhat naive and loyal friend to the self-centered, neurotic and ambitious Howard Moon. Vince can talk to animals, earning him the nickname "Mowgli in Flares". Vince is vibrant and flamboyant, contrasting with his friend Howard, who is more like a "geography teacher from Leeds".

More Details Hide Details Fielding said of the project, tentatively titled Noel Fielding: Boopus: "I want to make something in the spirit of Spike Milligan or the Kenny Everett Show but using modern techniques. Blending filmed comedy with animation. Television needs a madman! I want the show to be psychedelic and beautiful but have charm and personality. If Dalí made a show hopefully it would look like this." The show has since been renamed Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy and began broadcasting on Channel 4's E4 channel on 26 January 2012. It contains many aspects of animation composed with live action. A video shown to a select audience of C4 staff, producers, writers, performers and journalists showed the Boosh star as a stingray, discussing the recording of albums. Similar to the Mighty Boosh, in Luxury Comedy Fielding plays a wide array of characters including an optimistic lion, a chocolate finger, a deranged clown, a New York cop, a music producer stingray, and a futuristic Don Quixote called Fantasy Man.
