PHOTOS: Mel Gibson Has Left the 'Bu-ding
Huffington Post - over 4 years
With the sale of Mel Gibson's Lavender Hill Farm in Serra Retreat, Malibu's celebrity-you-most-love-to-hate has severed one more tie with the beachfront community. The sale closed this week for $9,261,250, substantially lower than the original listing of $14.5 million and even its most recent listing price, $11.25 million. The Huffington Post has confirmed that Mike Fleiss, the multimillionaire founder of ABC's "The Bachelor," purchased Lavender Hill Farm from the Gibsons. Gibson, whose anti-Semitic tirades and explosive temper have made him the neighbor you hoped to never have, lived in the three-acre property during his almost 30-year marriage to ex-wife Robyn Gibson. The Serra Retreat property came on the market in March 2010 after Robyn Gibson filed for divorce. Given Mel Gibson's penchant for misbehaving, we wonder if his one-time presence in the house was required to be disclosed under California's real estate disclosure and hazards laws. The property has a ...

Pulp non fiction: Joe Eszterhas tells all about Mel Gibson
LATimes - over 4 years
Screenwriter Joe Eszterhas has given up chasing women. He’s given up booze. He’s given up smoking, after barely surviving a horrible bout of throat cancer. But judging from “Heaven and Mel,” his new Amazon e-book about his ill-fated attempt to write a historical action drama about the Maccabees for Mel Gibson to direct, Eszterhas hasn’t lost his fondness for larger-than-life showbiz soap opera. Eszterhas was once the highest-paid screenwriter in Hollywood, a man who fought bitterly with directors, studios and actresses — at least when he wasn’t sleeping with them. He lived across the street from Bob Dylan in Malibu, wore a T-shirt to studio meetings with the motto “my inner child is a mean little ...” and once sold a pitch written on the back of a cocktail napkin for $4.7 million. His biggest hit was “Basic Instinct,” but his second-most-impressive piece of writing may have been a blistering screed he penned in 1989 to then-CAA czar Michael Ovitz. At the time, Ovitz was threatening t ...

Mel Gibson On His Rant Against Joe Eszterhas: 'I've Got a Bit of a Temper'
The Wrap - almost 5 years
Mel Gibson addressed his unbridled rant against screenwriter Joe Eszterhas on the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" Friday night, saying: "Maybe you didn't know this about me, I've got a little bit of a temper." The actor, promoting his direct-to-VOD film "Get the Gringo," came out firing -- discussing the tape-recorded outburst directed at the "Basic Instinct" screenwriter, whom he had partnered with on a movie project about the Jewish Maccabee revolt. Also read: Mel Gibson Rage Rant in Costa Rica: 'Filthy C---sucker Whore' "Has it really come to the place where you can't blow off steam in your own home -- even if you're justified," he asked. The dispute between the two became public after TheWrap obtained a copy of a nine-page letter from Eszterhas to Gibson, accusing the actor of "hating Jews" as well as threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva. Mel Gibson: Bipolar or just hateful?
She Knows - almost 5 years
A tape of Mel Gibson screaming obscenities at a screenwriter and his family has been released to the press. Is the notoriously temperamental actor actually mentally ill? Joe Eszterhas is not one to make idle threats. The Maccabees screenwriter released a tape of Mel Gibson screaming obscenities at his family, including Eszterhas' 15-year-old son, and it begs the question: Could Gibson be mentally ill? "'Why don't I have a first draft of The Maccabees? What the f**k have you been doing?'" Gibson can be heard screaming on the tape, then references his estranged baby mama Oksana Grigorieva. Mel Gibson hates Jews says writer >> "I go to work, you're getting paid, I'm not! S**t! I am earning money for a filthy little c*******r who takes advantage of me! Just like every motherf**ker! So hurry the f**k up!" Gibson screams. The sound of items crashing to the ground is heard, then Gibson start his crazed rant again. "Who wants to eat?! Who the f**k wants to eat?! More audio proof that Mel Gibson is indeed a psychopath…
Mr Paparazzi - almost 5 years
In the ongoing battle between screenwriter Joe Eszterhas and Mel Gibson, a new audio recording has been released online of the actor manically swearing and ranting. The tape was recorded by Eszterhas’ son Nick while the family were staying at Gibson’s Costa Rican home. In it, someone who very much sounds like Mel Gibson is heard screaming at someone about an unfinished script, he then goes onto scream at a woman – who’s said to be his ex, Oksana Grigorieva (who you may recall released her own audio tapes of Mel’s madness a few years ago). Eszterhas was working on a movie called The Maccabees with Mel at the time, but the project got shelved and the writer has since claimed that was because the actor is a massive anti-Semite and an all-round loony. Joe composed a letter to Mel pretty much saying so and that somehow made its way onto a US website, in turn the troubled Hollywood star released an open letter of his own denying those accusations and pointing the finger of blame ...

Mel Gibson Accused of "Hating Jews" by Maccabees Screenwriter
US Magazine - almost 5 years
Maccabees screenwriter Joe Eszterhas defended his claims against Mel Gibson on TODAY Friday after the actor denied them. On Wednesday, The Wrap leaked a nine-page scathing letter Eszterhas wrote to Gibson, 56, that accused the star, in great detail, of being anti-Semitic and making a lewd rant in front of his 15-year-old son. PHOTOS: Mel Gibson's worst summer ever The alleged incidents occurred while Eszterhas and Gibson were working in the fall on a movie about the ancient Jewish revolt of the Maccabees. The screenwriter, however, claims Gibson never intended to make the film because he "hates Jews." “I’ve come to the conclusion that the reason you won’t make The Maccabees is the ugliest possible one," he wrote. "You hate Jews.” Gibson released a statement denying Eszterhas' claims calling them "utter fabrications." But Eszterhas appeared on TODAY Friday and said his son has the rant of Gibson's lewd comments about his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva on tape.  ...

Mel Gibson Glad John Lennon is Dead, Wants to Stab Oksana Grigorieva, Screenwriter Claims
The Hollywood Gossip - almost 5 years
Screenwriter Joe Eszterhas, who was collaborating with Mel Gibson on his ill-fated film The Maccabees before claiming in a letter Mel Gibson hates Jews, says he's got proof that he witnessed the latest rage-filled rants from the troubled star. His teenage son secretly recorded much of it, Eszterhas says. "A lot of the stuff is on tape," he tells TMZ. What stuff? He says the recordings were made in Costa Rica by his son Nick, though he would not say if the following alleged comments by Mel were captured: "I want to f**k her in the ass and stab her while I'm doing it." - on his ex-girlfriend and former hate-filled rant target Oksana Grigorieva "He's a c**t Jewboy." - on William Morris/Endeavor Chairman Ari Emanuel "I'm glad he's dead. He deserved to be shot." - on John Lennon In the letter to Mel written after The Maccabees fell apart, Joe wrote that his son recorded Me on his iPhone, but did not say how much, other than "a lot."
