Celebrities Coming Out of the Infertility Closet
Huffington Post - 2 months
When I was going through fertility treatment, "E! News" anchor Giuliana Rancic and the first "Apprentice" winner, Bill Rancic, had a reality show called, Giuliana And Bill. On it, they shared their experience with In Vitro Fertilization, miscarriage and the emotional rollercoaster one in six go through to conceive. At the time, I didn't watch the show as I felt I was already living it but I had great respect for their openness. The show shined a light on infertility issues but on a personal level, it helped my mother gain insight into my life so she could better support me. Lately, there seems to be a growing amount of celebrities that are sharing their path (or rocky road depending) on trying to have a baby. John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have recently opened up about their experience with IVF and the use of pre-genetic screening (PGS) to have their daughter, Luna. John Legend was quoted as saying, "People shouldn't be ashamed of their fertility struggles" and I think so many who ha ...

John Legend's 'Hey Ya' Performance On 'Lip Sync Battle' Was Cooler Than Cool

John Legend might have a career as an André 3000 tribute artist in his future.  On Sunday’s special live episode of “Lip Sync Battle,” which featured other all-stars like Olivia Munn and Terry Crews, the “All of Me” singer gave his best impression of the Outkast singer for a performance of “Hey Ya.” Dressed in the same plaid pants, green shirt and suspenders André sports in the song’s video, Legend shook it like a polaroid picture while his wife, supermodel and host Chrissy Teigen, watched amusedly from her DJ booth. And as if the performance couldn’t get any better, music icon Stevie Wonder joined Legend onstage to rock out at the keyboard.  Watch the whole performance above. “Lip Sync Battle” Season 3 premieres Oct. 12 at 9 p.m. ET on Spike. -- This feed and its contents are the property of The Huffington Post, and use is subject to our terms. Megan Fox Says 'The Nag, The Trophy, The Escort' Still Dominate Women's Roles
Huffington Post - 9 months
Plenty of women in Hollywood will tell you just how hard it is to find a meaningful role. The latest to speak out on the issue: Megan Fox. The "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows" star (who's expecting her third child) explained in an interview with The New York Times that while she loves acting in fantasy and action movies, she doesn't "get a whole lot of say in terms of character development." "It’s not like I'm in there helping them write the script saying, 'April should do this, because this is what a real feminist would do,'" she said. "In terms of what’s available for women to play in general in Hollywood, it’s pretty scarce." Fox continued: "You have these stereotypes that still dominate films: the nag, the trophy, the escort. [Laughs.] I haven’t been sent a nag script yet, but I do get plenty of, like, 'interesting stripper.' Or, 'She’s super funny, but she’s also an escort, but that’s what makes it funny!'"  We've definitely heard that before. Fello ...

Why Asians Are Being Anything But Quiet About The Offensive Oscars Jokes
Huffington Post - 12 months
Asian-Americans are speaking out about the multiple zingers delivered at their expense at Sunday night's Oscars ceremony. Chris Rock, who did an otherwise terrific job framing the awards show around diversity, indulged in a tasteless gag in which he brought three young Asian kids on stage as "Oscar accountants," a lame exercise of the model-minority stereotype. “If anybody’s upset about that joke, just tweet about it on your phone that was also made by these kids,” added Rock. But people weren't having it. Umm, no @chrisrock. Using little Asian kids to joke about math stereotypes and child labor isn't funny. — Grace Hwang Lynch (@HapaMamaGrace) February 29, 2016 But although jokes at Asians' expense is nothing new, the wave of Asian-American responses -- on social media and in the press -- feels louder. The backlash was swift and coherent, which wasn't exactly the case with previous glib comments such as Jeb Bush on "anchor babies." Karin Wang, Vice-Presiden ...
