Visitors to this year's N.C. Apple Festival can expect fewer apples than last year due to the damage to the Henderson County apple crop from spring weather. Major freezes that occurred April 12-13 did extensive damage to the apples, said Marvin A. Owings Jr., an agricultural extension agent for the N.C. Cooperative Extension in Henderson County.
