1st round 32-team NFL Mock Draft
isports web - almost 2 years
Disclaimer: There will be not trades in this NFL mock draft. 1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: QB, Jameis Winston, Florida State Not much needs to be said, this is almost a shoe-in at this point. The Buccaneers have some talent in other places, but are severely lacking a difference-making quarterback. They’ll get that potential with Winston. 2. Tennessee Titans: QB, Marcus Mariota, Oregon When you have the chance to draft a franchise-altering quarterback, you don’t pass it up. Which makes drafting Mariota a no-brainer (unless they trade for Phillip Rivers). 3. Jacksonville Jaguars: DL, Leonard Williams, USC Williams is a top-tier prospect, if not the very best in this class. He’s strong, very lengthy and a smart football player. Many people want to send Dante Fowler to Jacksonville, but Williams is too good of a talent to pass up. 4. Oakland Raiders: WR, Amari Cooper, Alabama Cooper is still my best rated receiver in the draft class, even with the ascension of Kevin Whit ...

Denver Broncos A Pick-Your-Poison Team In Super Bowl
Huffington Post - about 3 years
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Denver was walloped 40-10 by Seattle in the preseason with Ronnie Hillman fumbling, Montee Ball stumbling and Peyton Manning grumbling. The Broncos are a much different team now, one that should return to Colorado on Tuesday for a victory parade clutching their third Lombardi Trophy. Chewed out by boss John Elway after that spectacle in Seattle last summer, the Broncos responded with a season for the ages, scoring more points than any team in NFL history (606) with Manning throwing for more touchdowns (55) and yards (5,447) than anyone ever had. They're not always the prettiest of passes, as Seahawks star talker and cornerback Richard Sherman pointed out, but Manning's always won with his brain, not his arm. Manning didn't disagree with Sherman's assessment that he "throws ducks." "I do throw ducks," he said. "I throw for a lot of yards and TD ducks, so I'm actually quite proud of it." Manning's "Duck Dynasty" consists of an unprecedented five p ...

Denver Broncos Top Kansas City Chiefs 27-17 (VIDEO/PHOTOS)
Huffington Post - over 3 years
DENVER (AP) — Peyton Manning walked away a winner in the biggest game of the year so far and, as a bonus, the Broncos might not even have to send his uniform off to the cleaners. Manning threw for 323 yards and a touchdown Sunday night and was barely touched by Kansas City's sack-happy defense in Denver's 27-17 victory over the NFL's last undefeated team. It means the '72 Dolphins can rest easy for another year. And it puts Denver and the Chiefs in a tie atop the AFC West at 9-1, with a rematch set in two weeks. Manning has another big game before that — at New England in yet another showdown against Tom Brady. If the Broncos' offensive line does anywhere near as good a job in that one as it did against the Chiefs, the quarterback's ailing ankles — mummified with athletic tape for this critical game — should be feeling much better. "The protection was outstanding, we ran the ball consistently, tried to keep them off-balance," Manning said. "We wanted a mix of running and pas ...

'We Look Good On Paper'
Huffington Post Sports - over 3 years
DENVER -- John Elway says the Denver Broncos, still stinging from their playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens in January, are primed for greatness in 2013 if they can just stay healthy and hungry. Two of the biggest reasons for his optimism: Von Miller and Peyton Manning. The Broncos executive vice president said he's hopeful Miller won't have to sit out all of September for violating the NFL's drug-abuse policy. The All-Pro linebacker is having a terrific training camp while he appeals a pending four-game suspension. Elway even called Miller, the first player he drafted, the most talented player he's ever seen on either side of the ball. He was equally effusive in his praise of Manning, who is throwing the ball better and appears much more comfortable in his second season in Denver. With the offseason addition of Wes Welker to the roster, Elway said he's "truly jealous of the weapons that Peyton gets to throw to." After watching the four-time MVP throw th ...

Peyton Falters Early, Broncos Lose
Huffington Post - over 4 years
ATLANTA -- Peyton Manning's second game with the Denver Broncos looked nothing like his first. Manning threw interceptions on Denver's first three possessions, and the Broncos could not recover from the poor start in a 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night. "We put ourselves in a hole," Manning said. "I thought we could find a little momentum there, find some rhythm, which we did. I thought we could give ourselves a chance to win. I never once thought the game was over. It would be difficult." In a 3-hour, 27-minute game marred by questionable decisions from replacement officials and long clock stoppages, Denver (1-1) had turnovers on four on its first five possessions, but the Falcons (2-0) didn't put the game away until they converted a third down with 2 minutes remaining and ran out the clock. Manning, the NFL's only four-time MVP, completed 24 of 37 for 241 yards, one touchdown, the three picks and a 58.5 passer rating. "You know he is goi ...

Manning's home debut so-so in loss to Seattle

Manning's home debut so-so in loss to Seattle Associated Press Copyright 2012 Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed. Updated 11:44 p.m., Saturday, August 18, 2012 Blasted by defensive end Bruce Irvin, the four-time MVP who missed all of last season with a neck injury that required four operations bounced right back up, shook it off and threw a 22-yard bullet to Brandon Stokley on the next play. The answer came with 1:25 left in the first half when Irvin beat right tackle Orlando Franklin and had a clean shot at the quarterback. Manning played the first half and gave the Broncos (1-1) a 10-9 lead despite three turnovers, including an interception in the red zone for the second straight week, and another at midfield on a bad overthrow. Terrell Owens had a disappointing debut for the Seahawks (2-0), failing to catch any of the five passes thrown his way. Owens is tryin ...

Thoughts on our draft
Mile High Report - almost 5 years
Since I did a fair amount of research on the DTs, LBs and RBs available in this draft. MLBs RBs first one RBs second one DTs first one DTs second one I wanted to share my thoughts on the Broncos picking up Wolfe, Hillman and Trevathan. I will also discuss Blake a bit since he plays the position(s) that I know best from my playing days. Wolfe I'll admit that I bought into the draft groupthink. I wanted us to get Worthy or Still, but I have really started to like "The Wolfe." All you had to say was that you were sending "The Wolfe." WARNING - adult language. Wolfe plays with very good technique. He has been coached well. He has a wrestling background so he knows how to employ leverage. His 6'5" frame means that he could add 10 lbs of muscle and presumable not lose any of his quickness. How do we know he is quick? Well, it shows up in game tape and there a little of that tape available on youtube. It also showed at the combine. His ability to start- ...

Competition for a final roster spot: Offense edition
Mile High Report - almost 5 years
The draft is gone. Some liked, some disliked, but the fact is that these are our players for the next season. We also signed some UDFAs and they will all compete for one of the 53s final roster spots. Let’s take a look at every of our positions and think about competition besides grading the unit. First of all, our offense: QB: Caleb Hanie, Peyton Manning, Brock Osweiler, Adam Weber No news here, Peyton Manning will be our starter and receive all the snaps his health permits. I believe in a good competition for the 2nd stringer spot with more advantage to Brock over Caleb. I don't think Weber makes the team. Unit Grade: A+ T: Ryan Clady, Chris Clark, Orlando Franklin, Adam Grant, Ryan Harris, Tony Hills, Mike Remmers We have a Pro Bowl Caliber playing left tackle, the most important role on the OL (Clady) and a powerful and big rookie on the opposite tackle (Franklin). Harris is an excelent backup if he remains healthy and has the skills to get the job ...

Who is EFX targeting with our two 2nd round picks?
Mile High Report - almost 5 years
"...we moved up 25 spots to the top of the fourth, which we really believe this is a deep draft. It’s not real thick at the top, but it’s pretty deep through the middle rounds. We thought by adding another good pick it gives us more options going into tomorrow. Plus we’ll still be able to get the same people that we had targeted that made it to us at 25 at 36..." - John Elway So who do we pick with the 4th and 25th picks in the second? I'm rather unhappy with only getting one 4th round pick out of trading back twice, albeit a high 4th rounder. I was hoping for more. But I digress. So who do we pick? Cordy Glenn would be a nice pickup, supposedly he can play tackle, allowing Orlando Franklin to move inside to guard to either supplant Beadles or replace a still injured Kuper. Not my favorite. We could pick Stephen Hill and have two Georgia Tech speedsters to PFM to throw to. Mmmmm, nah. Courtney Upshaw, anyone. Pop him in to replace Robert A ...

Is 2nd Round that important?
Mile High Report - almost 5 years
http://www.pro-football-reference.com/play-index/draft-finder.cgi?request=1&year_min=2008&year_max=2011&type=&round_min=1&round_max=30&slot_min=1&slot_max=500&league_id=&team_id=den&pos=ALL&college_id=all&conference=any&show=all Wanted to look into the draft since 2008. This year is very critical because its the catalyst for all the change we as fans had to endure. What I find interesting is how we managed to have 6 first round selections in those four years. Of those six Ryan Clady has been very consistent and Demaryius Thomas, along with Von Miller, seem to have promise for great things. Whereas Ayers and Moreno seem to be more of role players limited to design and scheme. Another thing I noticed was how Tim Tebow and Robert Ayers did not lose extensive playing time due to serious injury. 2nd round to me is as important as a 1st rounder. These are athletes that usually fall into the top 60 to transition into t ...
