Badass Skydivers Show You Don't Need Magic To Play Quidditch
Huffington Post - 10 months
Quidditch just got real. Very real indeed. Many Muggles have fantasized about playing Harry Potter's favorite game. Participants have so far only played Muggle quidditch, which has its own World Cup and featured in “The Internship” movie starring Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughan, on the ground. Until now. Video posted online shows skydivers playing the sport as they plummet to Earth after jumping out of an airplane. It's probably as close as anyone will ever get to recreating what went through Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling's head when she first imagined the fantastical game. That is, unless someone decides to start playing it with jetpacks. Now that would be a rush. Colombian telecommunications company ETB posted the footage to YouTube on Apr. 26, and it's now going viral. -- This feed and its contents are the property of The Huffington Post, and use is subject to our terms. 'Whiskey Tango Foxtrot' Is Far Better Than Its Trailers Imply, So Why Is It Being Marketed Poorly?
Huffington Post - 12 months
If you’ve seen the trailers for “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot,” you probably think it's a rowdy caper -- a billowing war comedy set in the wacky Middle East, à la last year’s “Rock the Kasbah,” the Bill Murray vehicle that opened to critical animus and commercial defeat.  “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” is, actually, nothing like that. Whatsoever. And the fact that promotional materials are portraying the film as such is silly. It’s an insult to the movie, and it's an insult to the audiences who will pay to see something that wasn’t advertised to them. The whole thing is especially off-putting because the “Foxtrot” trailers range from unappealing bombast to blatant mischaracterizations of the plot. If you’ve seen the TV spot that implies the story unfolds because Tina Fey’s boyfriend (played by Josh Charles) cheats on her, please know that this is categorically false. In fact, the entire film is better than any of its previews suggest. It’s not a rowdy comedy -- it’s more of a light dram ...

Pouts and selfies as models Derek and Hansel back for 'Zoolander 2'
Yahoo News - about 1 year
Male models Derek and Hansel are back on the catwalk in fashion comedy sequel "Zoolander 2", returning with their famous pouts, poses -- and a record-breaking selfie to capture them. On a blue carpet that evoked his trademark "blue steel" pout, Derek Zoolander himself, actor Ben Stiller, helped set a record for the longest selfie stick at the movie's London premiere on Thursday night. With co-stars Owen Wilson, Penelope Cruz, Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell beside him, Stiller held the stick, said to be some 8.5 meters (27.89 ft) long and with a mobile device attached to it, above them for the snap.

When Temperature Chills, Paris' 18th and 19th-Century Covered Galleries Await Shoppers
Huffington Post - about 1 year
In the times before paved ways and sewers, covered passages offered warm and dry places for customers to shop and dine and avoid ruining their clothes on rainy, muddy days. Paris still has some 20 covered historical galleries, short streets of inside shopping or simply browsing, a most thought-after way of avoiding the harsh weather outside. Christmas shopping is particularly attractive in those arcades, as the little shoppes offer trinkets and gifts not found anywhere else; this is not mass shopping of look-alike presents. Rare objects can be found here by collectors. Here are a few of the hidden passages worth a visit. Galerie Colbert. 'Zoolander 2' Is Pissing People Off And It’s Not Even In Theaters Yet
Huffington Post - about 1 year
"Zoolander 2" doesn't hit theaters until February, but thousands of people are already calling for a boycott of the film.  Last month, a petition launched on Care2 asking for people to boycott the comedy starring Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson because of its "offensive representation of non-binary individuals." Benedict Cumberbatch appears in the movie as an androgynous model who is questioned by Stiller and Wilson.  The petition reads: In the "Zoolander 2" trailer, an androgynous character played by Benedict Cumberbatch is asked by Zoolander and Hansel if he is a ‘male or female model’, and if they ‘have a hot dog or a bun’. Additionally, Cumberbatch’s character is clearly portrayed as an over-the-top, cartoonish mockery of androgyne/trans/non-binary individuals. This is the modern equivalent of using blackface to represent a minority. "By hiring a cis actor to play a non-binary individual in a clearly negative way, the film endorses harmful and dangerous perceptions of ...
