What I Learned From Sir Bob Geldof
Huffington Post - about 1 year
You may remember him from The Boomtown Rats, he starred as "Pink" in Pink Floyd's film, Pink Floyd - The Wall, he co-founded the charity group Band Aid and later Live Aid and the Live 8 concerts. Raising more than $150 million for on the ground relief work in Africa, he also received a knighthood and is the recipient of the Man of Peace award which recognises personalities from around the world who have made an outstanding contribution to international social justice and peace. I met Sir Bob Geldof at a business women's breakfast event and I was fortunate to speak briefly with him one-on-one after his speech, but more on that later. He went to the stage with a real rockstar entrance, he was the coolest of cats - stylish, relaxed and present in the moment. But his message was far from relaxed. I took out my little notebook and began furiously scribbling notes as he spoke. Sir Bob spoke of this century, the last century, a little about the century before that and what sens ...

Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza have been enjoying their vacation at the Garza Blanca Preserve Resort & Spa in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Photos obtained from show the actresses posing in their suite's private infinity pool. Kendrick and Plaza weren't the only two adjusting to the water. The friends were given the chance to release baby sea turtles into the ocean and, from the looks of it, they had an amazing time doing so. "Rip it, roll it and punch it jellyman!!! #garzablanca," wrote the "Pitch Perfect" star, in reference to "Finding Nemo." Plaza then tweeted a photo of herself balancing a turtle in her hand. Legal warnings on UK court cases to be posted on Twitter
Yahoo News - about 3 years
The British government will from Wednesday tell Twitter and Facebook users how to avoid "inadvertently breaking the law" by revealing banned details from court cases. Legal advisories previously sent only to the mainstream media will be published on social media networks in recognition of the fact that newspapers and television no longer have a monopoly on news. There are strict rules in place in Britain on what can be reported or publicly discussed about a court case, with fines levied on those deemed to have prejudiced a fair trial, while it is also illegal to identify some victims of crime. But these rules are increasingly being broken by users of social networks, most recently when socialite Peaches Geldof tweeted the names of two mothers whose babies were involved in sexual abuse orchestrated by disgraced rock star Ian Watkins.

Eleanor Doughty: Magic Makers: Zoe Jordan
Huffington Post - over 3 years
Last year, I found myself front row at Zoe Jordan's AW12 show. Crammed in an upstairs room of Somerset House, very lovely it was too. Peaches Geldof got snapped and papped while Poppy Delevigne opened and closed the show. What a treat! The beauty was amazing - messy fishtail plaits and smoky eyes - while sumptuous autumn flavours begged to be snuggled into on the runway. Shame it was only February, I was hooked. It became very apparent that Zoe Jordan is a force to be reckoned with. A year on and I sat third row - of six, I'll have you know - at her AW13 offering. It was early-ish on the first day of London Fashion Week, the second stage of the international catwalkathons. 'What an honour, it was a real moment!', she says of opening our hometown circus. 'It's not often I stop and breathe and take it in, but I felt this was a huge milestone and time for a little reflection'. While some commented that Zoe would have been better suited to a New York showing this ...

Congrats: Kate Middleton Named Best-Dressed Among Pregnant Celebs
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
You know we love best-dressed lists here at HuffPost Style. We're experts on the subject, of course, but that doesn't mean we don't appreciate the opinions of our peers. Our friends at Vanity Fair put together a Best-Dressed Pregnant Ladies list as part of their International Best-Dressed Challenge, and we were hardly surprised to see Kate Middleton, our favorite royal mommy-to-be, as its winner. Vanity Fair explains: At every life stage—courtship, marriage, and now pregnancy—her classic, insta-iconic pieces have inspired and influenced the wardrobes of sweethearts, brides, and mothers-to-be, respectively. The duchess conceals her (bare minimum of a) bump with three-quarter-length coats and short skirts that also help to draw attention to enviably still-svelte stems. We couldn't have said it better ourselves. Kate has led the pregnant pack in a series of stylish coats and patterned tights, never forgetting to include her signature smile. Topping Vanity Fair's lis ...

Women we love to love and women we love to hate
Guardian (UK) - almost 4 years
Why is it that Jennifer Lawrence, Michelle Obama and Adele get all the love, while Anne Hathaway, Taylor Swift and Peaches Geldof get it in the neck? As the dust begins to settle on awards season, it becomes clear that some famous women get a lot more love than others. Rightly or wrongly, there are those whom everyone wants to make their instant best friend, and those who get it in the neck. Why is Adele so robustly likable, while the equally successful Taylor Swift often comes across like a wounded deer? Why would so many of us run into the nearest pub to neck shots with Jennifer Lawrence, and leave Anne Hathaway waiting in the car? Using deeply scientific methodology, we've uncovered the reasons behind this puzzling phenomenon. Five women we love to love Meryl Streep The thing is, you don't always want a celeb to be "down to Earth" or "just like us". Mariah Carey's need for a staff member to carry her drink and prop up the bendy bit of her straw is what makes me love her so much. ...

Mad Men Star January Jones Recommends Eating Your Placenta To Beat Baby Blues
Business Insider - almost 4 years
January Jones, the Mad Men star, thinks that you should eat your placenta to beat the baby blues. But why are we so consumed with celebrity notions on motherhood, wonders Sally Peck? January Jones: actress, model, parenting guru? The woman best known for playing Betty Draper on Mad Men has revealed her secret for staving off postpartum blues and fatigue: eat your placenta. In an interview with Glamour magazine, the mother-of-one repeats her advice to pregnant women that they have their placentas dehydrated and turned into capsules. This is, she says, a “very civilised thing which can help women with depression and fatigue”. It's a big thing in Hollywood at the moment. The practice is, Jones assures readers, “not gross or witchcrafty”. It may not be “witchcrafty”, but is it necessary?
