Here's Why Gold-Infused Skincare May Not Be Worth The Hype
Huffington Post - about 1 year
We've recently noticed more and more editors and bloggers singing the praises of gold-infused skincare. Yes, we're talking real, 24-carat gold.  Skincare manufacturer Peter Thomas Roth has already established a cult following thanks to its 24K Gold collection, which includes a mask, cleansing butter and gel eye patches. Other cosmetics brands such as Rodial, Chantecaille and La Prairie also offer gold-infused products costing upwards of $700. But are they worth it? The bottom line: gold is an antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory properties. According to Tabasum Mir, a skincare physician in cosmetic dermatology and cosmetic laser surgery, the metal can calm acne inflammation, reduce skin redness and protect against free radicals that lead to wrinkles and sun damage.  Because gold isn't soluble, Mir says the risk of applying topical treatments that contain nano gold or gold flakes is low. With that in mind, you should definitely pay close attention to all the ingredients that ...

12 Luxurious Cleansers for Your Winter-Battered Skin
Huffington Post - about 1 year

Cleansing balms are buttery solid to semi-solid face-cleaning emulsions that sweep makeup, oil, and grime from your face while leaving your skin feeling like cashmere. They're compatible with almost all skin types because they deep clean without stripping skin. Just rub a dime-size amount of the balm on your face until it transforms into an oil that you splash off. Related: The Ultimate Guide to Winter Skin Care Cleansing balms aren't exactly new, but they garnered a fresh following when Eve Lom, the Rolls-Royce of balm cleansers, emerged in stores several years ago. Now there are dozens of balm cleansers available, so the Cut sought to find the best of the bunch. Here are the 12 I tested to weed out the commendable from the crappy, judging them on fragrance ...

Chichester’s young athletes crowned champions at Portsmouth
Chichester Observer - over 4 years
Chichester’s team of young athletes are champions for the third time in five years after producing a thrilling display to overturn a big points deficit in their final match. They clinched their National Young Athletes League title at the Mountbatten Centre, Portsmouth, despite going into the match trailing league leaders Camberley by 82 points and a strong Bournemouth team by more than 70. Chichester knew only a season’s best showing would secure the title – and that’s exactly what they delivered. After a quarter of the 80 events across six age groups, the gap had shrunk to 40 points with Chichester leading, Camberley and Bournemouth neck and neck for second and Portsmouth fourth. It looked for a time as if Chichester would win the match but not by enough to take the title. But in the final 20 events a Chichester surge, capped by fine relays, saw them win by more than 120 points on the day and top the final table by more than 40 points. With 54 athletes in the squad, outstandi ...

‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ tour test run June 26
ajc - over 4 years
The folks who recently started a “Walking Dead” tour are experimenting with a “Real Housewives of Atlanta” tour for the evening of Tuesday, June 26. And since they are not affiliated with the Bravo show, they can’t call it “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” tour. Instead, they dubbed it the “Keeping it Real” tour. (You can get more details and buy tickets here.) This is going to be far different from the “Walking Dead” (er… Big Zombie) tour. It will run from 7 to 10 p.m., and include three complimentary cocktails and appetizers in three locations for a $60 fee. Tour creator Patti Davis said they’ve gotten cooperation from Peter Thomas, the husband of cast member Cynthia Bailey, so there will be a stop at his lounge/bar BarOne in Grant Park, plus a visit to Cynthia’s modeling agency, the Bailey Agency. Cynthia won’t be there, though, and she isn’t sure if Peter will be at BarOne either. She said she’d love to visit TAGS Boutique, Kandi Burruss’ clothing store in Smyrna but …

One Pizza Shop Will Give You A Free Pie For Ordering In Spanish
Business Insider - over 4 years
Pizza Patrón, the Dallas-based pizza chain made famous for accepting pesos, is once again the subject of national criticism for a Latino-focused campaign. On June 5th, between 5 and 8 p.m., Pizza Patrón will give away a free, large pepperoni pizza to anyone who orders in Spanish. Linguistic proficiency won't be a factor. Broken or fluent, customers will a normally $4.99 pizza for saying "Pizza, por favor." Surprisingly, the kitschy campaign—aimed to "strengthen the relationship we have with our core customer"—has been met with vitriol. "Maybe they thought it was a cute thing to do, but I think it's discrimination," Marcela Gomez, president of Hispanic Marketing Group, told USA Today. Peter Thomas, chairman of the Conservative Caucus, also expressed his concern to USA Today: "It seems to punish people who can't speak Spanish, and I resent that." Pizza Patrón is viewing this as another buzz campaign that can bring itself closer to its Hispanic customers. In a press release ...

EG’s Pete Walsh, 21, Teams With Hoodie Allen On Hip Hop Hit
East Greenwich Patch - almost 5 years

How did the guy who played guitar and knew his way around recording equipment in high school become a music producer and songwriter with an agent, several clients, and a couple hits less than three years later? Walsh went to Berklee College of Music after high school — no small thing in itself. He stayed only a year. “I met incredibly talented people at Berklee, but I realized pretty quickly that I wanted to be out in the real world,” Walsh says. “By my second semester I had a management offer on the table, and I seized the opportunity.” He admitted his isn’t the typical path. “I’m in a unique position. What I wanted to do, I didn’t ...
