'The Originals' Recap: 'House Of The Rising Son'
MTV News - over 3 years
by Ryan J. Downey Man, last night sure put the "origin" in "The Originals"! Plus, two very important secrets were revealed. Now we know Marcel's backstory! Plus we learned about Klaus' master plan to take back New Orleans, even as Klaus learned about Marcel's secret weapon that gives his former protege control over the town's witches, vampires and law enforcement types. Let's begin by breaking down the episode's title, shall we? "House of the Rising Son" most likely refers to two different things. One of them involves the relationship between Klaus and "The Originals" Big Bad Marcel. It turns out Klaus wasn't just a mentor, he was a father figure! In a flashback we were introduced to Marcel as a young boy, who was saved from a cruel whipping thanks to a well placed vampiric toss of an apple that knocked a wicked slave master from his horse (and from this plane of existence). Klaus saw something of himself in the young boy: a cast aside loner who nevertheless is a survivor. ...

'The Originals' Premiere: Joseph Morgan On Klaus' Weakness And His Fanboy Side
Huffington Post - over 3 years
NEW YORK -- NEW YORK (AP) — The big, bad villain on the CW's "The Vampire Diaries" is getting his own series. Joseph Morgan first appeared during season two as Klaus Mikaelson, one of the world's first vampires, who is also half-werewolf. He was a series regular in the third and fourth seasons. "I love it," said the 32-year-old Morgan. "It's been one of the most fun characters I've ever played." Fans loved Morgan's Klaus and his fellow vampire family members. They were making YouTube videos about the clan before the spinoff was announced. In "The Originals," Klaus moves to New Orleans after being away for about a hundred years and wants to take over the city, now ruled by his protege vampire, Marcel. Morgan, who is joined on the series by "Vampire Diaries" cast members Daniel Gilles, Claire Holt and Phoebe Tonkin, says "The Originals" is darker in tone than its predecessor. The show premieres Thursday (9 p.m. EDT), but will begin airing in its regular Tuesday time slot (8 p.m. ...

Phoebe has just jumped ship on "TVD" to star in spin-off series "The Originals," but she had plenty of time to get to know Paul during her recurring stint on the first show (not to mention the two series film in Atlanta). And Paul is newly single after splitting this summer from his wife, Torrey DeVitto; the pair had been married since 2011, and she's also had a small role on "The Vampire Diaries." According to sources who saw Paul with Phoebe on a double date, Paul hasn't wasted any time getting back in the amorous saddle to publicly snuggle up with his new boo. IT'S HAPPENING!
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
"The Originals" has been picked up for a full season! "The Vampire Diaries" spinoff, which aired its backdoor pilot on Thursday night, will join its parent show, "Supernatural," "Arrow," "Beauty and the Beast" and "Hart of Dixie" for The CW's 2013-2014 TV season. "As soon as we saw last night's episode of ''The Vampire Diaries,' we knew we wanted more of 'The Originals' -- Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson have done a fantastic job with 'The Vampire Diaries,' which is as fast-paced and well-written as ever, and Julie has created an equally compelling world for 'The Originals,'" Mark Pedowitz, president of The CW, said in a statement on "The Originals" series order. The CW's decision to pick up "The Originals" is not particularly surprising, considering the success of "The Vampire Diaries." However, the pilot did not impress in the ratings. "The Originals" follows "The Vampire Diaries" characters Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) ...

The CW is just days away from airing the "Originals" pilot, but you can get a first look above. The "Vampire Diaries" spinoff -- set to air as a backdoor pilot on Thursday, April 25 at 8 p.m. ET -- sees Klaus (Joseph Morgan) head to New Orleans and connect with his protégé Marcel (Charles Michael Davis). At the end of the most recent episode of "The Vampire Diaries," Klaus received a letter from Katherine (Nina Dobrev), which explained that there was a witch in the Big Easy plotting against him. Never one to go down without a fight, Klaus of course heads to New Orleans, as you can see in The CW preview above, set to Fall Out Boy's "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light 'Em Up)." "Welcome to the dark side of New Orleans, where the living are easily lost and the dead stick around to play," a mysterious man tells Klaus in the promo. "For once, Klaus is the one which things are happening to, as opposed to him being the cause of things. So it's really interesting ...

Napoleon Perdis: Youth Movement

I just flew back from Sydney where I directed the Spring/Summer 13 makeup looks for eight shows at Fashion Week Australia, including Dion Lee, Ellery, Toni Maticevski, Alex Perry, Camilla & Marc, Christopher Esber, Ginger & Smart, and Karla Spetic. I love the whole process of working with designers; from hearing the inspiration for their collection, seeing their references and finished garments, listening to a few tracks on their show playlist, and then collaborating on a beauty direction that fuses their vision with mine. Having worked with designers at various Fashion Weeks from Sydney to New York to L.A., I've always been inspired by design talent -- from the experienced, established players to new names on the rise. [The fashion collaboration work I do cements the brand's authority as a professional artistry brand and also serves as a testing lab for our new products -- tested on models, not animals!] While I certainly reference the past, I'm far more focused o ...

Teacher with Kat Graham History coming to the Vampire Diaries
Boom Tron - over 4 years
Season 4 of the CW’s The Vampire Diaries is creeping up on us and another new face to Mystic Falls  awaits us this fall. David Alpay is coming into town, filling a role we heard about last month. As you know, some of the TVD gang is graduating  from high school and  attending the local college (the same one Jenna  - Sarah Canning – was at).  Back in July we learned about a new character stemming from this new setting, one Professor Shane, who has ties to Katerina Graham’s Bonnie Bennett and her family. Enter Alpay. According to TVline Professor Shane will be a recurring a character that will debut in the fourth episode of the season. The word last month was that Vampire Diaries heads might want to rewatch an episode from TVD season 2 titled “Bad Moon Rising” to catch some thread Alpay’s appearance will initially play off of. If Alpay looks familiar, you may have caught him on The Borgias as Calvino or on The Tudors as Mark Smeaton. He joins Grace Phipps, Todd Williams, and Phoebe T ...

Vampire Diaries: Phoebe Tonkin Getting Between Tyler and Caroline?
Boom Tron - over 4 years
Just when you thought the love triangle of Tyler, Caroline and Klaus couldn’t become anymore complicated; news broke of a new character to be introduced in Season 4 of The Vampire Diaries that could manage to steal Tyler away from Caroline. And should this new lady manage to woo Tyler in any sort of way we could have a love quadrangle to rival that of Lost’s Jack/Kate/Sawyer/Juliet mess of a love story. That’s what I love about television these days. We’ve all seen love triangles done to death so we need that extra person to complicate matters just a bit more. So who is this fourth party that may get between Tyler and Caroline? If you’re to believe TV Guide – and why wouldn’t you? – then our new lady friend will be played Phoebe Tonkin, who was once apart of the CW’s The Secret Circle, which sadly did not make it past its first season. But the CW likes to keeps its family close together, giving Tonkin a second chance to show off her talents. And with Diaries intense popularity, it’ ...

'Secret Circle' Star Phoebe Tonkin Conjures Up New Role On 'Vampire Diaries'
MTV News - over 4 years
by Ryan J. Downey We're finally going to get that crossover between "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Secret Circle," albeit not exactly in the way we'd imagined. Next season on "The Vampire Diaries," the cast will be joined by Phoebe Tonkin, better known as fan-favorite bad-girl witch Faye from "The Secret Circle"! Phoebe will play a "free-spirited" and "extremely sexy" girl from Tyler's past named Hayley, according to E! Online. She's set to arrive in episode three. "The Secret Circle" was cancelled after just one season, leaving all of us to wonder what might have happened when those other Blackwell kids showed up to town. Both shows have author L.J. Smith to thank for their source material and shared an executive producer in Kevin Williamson, who honed his horror chops and teen drama skills as the mastermind behind the "Scream" franchise and "Dawson's Creek." And while the shows didn't share story continuity, Phoebe herself is no stranger to the guys and girls of Mystic F ...

NOOOOO!!!!!!!! WHY CW!?! WHYYYY!?!?!?! It's one thing if a show just bombs... but not if a show has such a strong, loyal following!!! Think of Rocky Horror Picture Show, LOL!! Okay, that wasn't a television show... but you get the idea... Ringer wasn't exactly a champion in the ratings field, but there were (and are) passionate viewers who want to see the show continue on nonetheless (like us)! Sadly, sources are saying the show is "dead." BOO!!! Same goes for The Secret Circle too. Sigh... so much for our Craft-esque guilty pleasure! Hopefully Phoebe Tonkin goes on to bigger and better things. She's a star!! And hopefully the new shows they want to launch will fare better.
