Why You Should Try Ombre Lips... And 3 Tricks To Making It Look Perfect
Huffington Post - about 3 years
The ombre trend that we first fell in love with started with our hair -- let's just say we paid lots of money to get Rachel Bilson and Jessica Alba's multi-shade styles. But ombre is now taking over another part of our bodies. These days, it's all about the ombre lip. But what exactly is it? Well, it's a very similar gradation of color that evolves from lightest to darkest, beginning at the center of the mouth. And it's usually outlined by a darker shade of lip pencil or lipstick to fake fuller lips. Ombre lips have been worn by models throughout the years on the runways of Dior, Miu Miu, Prabal Gurung, Jason Wu and Kenneth Cole (pictured above). But with most trends, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics CEO and creative director David Klasfeld tells us the ombre lip has its roots in drag makeup. "Drag queens have absolutely popularized the look by showing the public at large how easy it is to achieve," explains Klasfeld. "Prior to that, it's been a trick of the trade on stage anywhe ...

Jessica Goodman: The Best 'How I Met Your Mother' Episode In Years
The Huffington Post - about 3 years
"How Your Mother Met Me" was one of the strongest, most beautiful episodes of "How I Met Your Mother" in years. Whatever doubts fans had about Cristin Milioti can be cast aside after watching her performance -- one show creator Craig Thomas thought could win her a guest Emmy. I don't disagree. The 200th episode, told entirely from the Mother's point of view, opened in September 2005, the night Marshall and Lily got engaged, and the night Ted met Robin. We followed a redhead from the gang's West side MacLaren's to a different MacLaren's where the Mother was celebrating her 21st birthday. Cue new opening credits, featuring the Mother, the redhead and Andrew Rannells' demon-eyed character, Darren. If you're anything like me, you made a literal gasping noise at this sequence. Back at the Mother's birthday, she got a terrible phone call, revealing her boyfriend Max died. We never found out why, but as the episode progresses, the writers reveal that the Mother thought Max ...

How I Met Your Mother Turns 200 with the Mother of All Episodes
Seattle Pi - about 3 years
How I Met Your Mother's 200th episode (Monday, 8/7c, CBS), titled "How Your Mother Met Me," will be told from The Mother's (Cristin Milioti) perspective, as she recounts the last eight and a half years of her life before she met Ted (Josh Radnor) - so much so that the show even redid its opening credits to feature Mrs. Mosby. How I Met Your Mother: A chronological timeline of craziness An alternative trip down memory lane, the milestone episode will hit all the key moments of Ted and The Mother's close calls, including him (mistakenly) lecturing her economics class, that rainy St. Patrick's Day party where Ted picked up her famous yellow umbrella, and the night Ted visited her roommate Cindy (Rachel Bilson) and caught a glimpse of The Mother's foot. The show even recreated a "little piece" of the pilot and used some "fun trickery" to incorporate The Mother into past scenes, executive producer Carter Bays told reporters on set at the show's Television Critics Association winter pre ...

Holy mother! "How I Met Your Mother' debuted the first photos of its 200th episode, and they're full of spoilers. In the six photos below, we see some key moments of the episode, "How Your Mother Met Me," which will be told from the perspective of the mother, played by Cristin Milioti. We'll definitely see the classroom in which the mother first laid eyes on Ted (remember when he screwed up that first architecture lecture? And, we'll also get inside the apartment that Bilson's character and the mother shared when she went on a date with Ted. That was the one time he saw the mother's foot. Ah, those were the days. In December, executive producer Craig Thomas hyped up the episode quite a bit. "If she doesn’t get nominated for a guest Emmy for this episode, I don’t know what one has to do to get that." Rachel Bilson Has No Ill Will Toward Mischa Barton, Says Rep
Huffington Post - over 3 years
Perhaps you heard that Rachel Bilson is still fuming over the past antics of her former "The O.C." co-star Mischa Barton -- well, you heard wrong. A seemingly out of the blue report from RadarOnline.com claims that Bilson is still mad at Barton, and is leading the charge among the rest of the show's former cast members to shun her. According to the website's source, the 32-year-old CW star has been letting them know "it’s okay for everybody to wash their hands of Mischa and not forgive her past transgressions." That's a lot of anger to be holding on to nearly seven years after "The O.C" ended, and the reality could not be further from the truth, according to Bilson's rep. "The Radar Online 'story' is a complete fabrication. There simply is no truth to it at all. No one from Radar Online checked in with Rachel or us for validity or comments," Bilson's rep told The Huffington Post in a statement. "Rachel has no ill will toward Mischa –- she has and will continue to wish her well. ...

OK! Exclusive: Antoinette Robertson is Ready to Cause Some Trouble on Hart of Dixie This Season
Ok Magazine - over 3 years
One of my favorite season premieres this year has been Hart of Dixie. It felt so good to catch up with Zoe (Rachel Bilson) again and see what had changed in her life over the summer. Plus I’m not mad at seeing that devilish Wade (Wilson Bethel) grin and George (Scott Porter) in a suit (post, um, makeover) and even seeing what antics Lemon is up to this time. So when the show (and cast, as you’ll read below) welcomed a new character this season, Levon (Cress Williams)’s cousin Lynly, I was happy to chat with the actress that will play the trouble-making southern belle, Antoinette Robertson. She dishes on the show’s love triangles, fitting in with the cast and most importantly: the fashion. OK!: First of all, welcome to Bluebell! Do you know how many episodes you are on yet? Are you allowed to say? Antoinette Robertson: Right now I am locked in til 3.10 and I’m tentative for 3.11. OK!: I like this, this means you are going to cause some trouble. You come in as the Mayor’s cousin, ...

The Bling Ring: Steal the look

In The Bling Ring director Sofia Coppola takes us into the wardrobes of celebrities and the glamorous world of Hollywood. If you are a fashion fiend or a celebrity-worshipper, this movie will leave you awestruck throughout. Far from other cinematic interpretations of celebrity lifestyles, Coppola’s film is based on a true story. Coppola was inspired by a 2010 Vanity Fair piece ‘The Suspects Wore Louboutins’ by award-winning journalist Nancy Jo Sales. The article unveils the suspects and their motivations behind burglaries at celebrity homes. And so, from a distance Coppola shows us how a group of club-hopping teenagers in Calabasas, California, cat-burgle more than $3m in jewellery, cash and high-end goods. The group of seven teenagers (popularly known as The Bling Ring) — Rebecca (Katie Chang) the mastermind, Marc (Israel Broussard) the new student at the high school, Rebecca’s friends Chloe (Claire Julien) and Nicki (Ema Watson), along with Nick ...

The Secret Behind Jared Leto's Amazing Ombre Hair
Huffington Post - over 3 years
If there was a Best Hair Award at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, we'd have to present the Moonman to Jared Leto. The Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman made a head-turning appearance on the red carpet with the most amazing ombré hairstyle we've seen in a long time. (Sorry, Rachel Bilson.) It was shiny, sexy and surprisingly thick for a star whose experimented with just about every hair color. And it was enough to cause a stir on Twitter, as beauty insiders and fans gushed over its utter perfection. (See: here, here and here.) Naturally we couldn't contain our excitement when celebrity hairstylist Chase Kusero, the mane man behind Leto's ombre hairstyle, shared with us his styling secrets. "Jared is the definition of a superstar. He's also naturally cool. The inspiration for this look came months ago when we decided that the classic idea of a rock star didn't really exist anymore," said Kusero. Vikki Geary: Thirteen Years of Iconic Hair
Huffington Post - over 3 years
In every decade there are a handful of stand-out hairstyles that come to define the fashion of the era. In the 60s it was Mia Farrow's crop; in the 70s it was Farrah Fawcett's feathery blonde layers. By the 80s we were admiring Blondie's choppy fringe, then in the 90s women were asking their hairdresser for 'The Rachel'. But what will go down in history as the most iconic hairstyle of the 00s? This article casts an eye over the hairstyles that have made their mark in the 21st century so far. The POB Creative Commons image from Wikipedia Back in 2006, Victoria Beckham surprised the fashion community and fellow WAGs when she ditched her long blonde extensions in favour of a sleek, angled bob haircut. Ben Keesey: WATCH: 'Kony 2012' Creators Share Advocacy Lessons with Thousands Of Millennials
Huffington Post - over 3 years
I never imagined I would be the CEO of an international human rights nonprofit. After college I was working at JP Morgan and Deloitte, setting myself up for a career in finance. Then, in 2004, a few friends of mine founded a nonprofit called Invisible Children. They were filmmakers who stumbled across a brutal conflict in northern Uganda where young children were being kidnapped from their homes by Joseph Kony and the rebel army called the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). In outrage we vowed to do whatever we could to help stop the LRA. Along this journey, we've recognized that this issue, like most issues of extreme injustice, requires a multi-faceted approach. We have also discovered that our non-traditional methods can have surprisingly effective results. We don't just raise awareness or document atrocities or protect vulnerable communities or rehabilitate victims. We want to address the problem in entirety -- serve immediate needs and create long-term effects. This is ...

Adam Brody's 'O.C.' Reunion Desire
Huffington Post - over 3 years
"The O.C." just turned 10 years old and all the nostalgia has many looking to a reunion. Adam Brody has given that prospect a thought, but his pitch isn't for a reunion movie. "Someone asked me that and I said on stage," Brody told E! about an "O.C." reunion. "I'd like to do the play." Brody played Seth Cohen, the nerdy teen heartthrob on "The O.C.," for all four seasons. His father, Sandy Cohen, was played by Peter Gallagher. During a recent visit to HuffPost Live, Gallagher discussed the show's lasting legacy and reunion prospects. "The crazy thing about that show is, every day I hear from people all around the world still -- either on Twitter or Facebook -- [talking] about Sandy Cohen, about 'The O.C.,'" Gallagher said. "People are watching it for the first time, [saying,] 'God, I wish Sandy were my father.' They all ask that same question: 'Will there be a reunion?' So, never say never." Rachel Bilson Goes Back To Her 'O.C.' Roots
Huffington Post - over 3 years
Rachel Bilson revisited her "O.C." roots on Monday in honor of the Fox teen soap's 10th anniversary. In the "O.C." pilot, which aired on August 5, 2003, Bilson's superficial character Summer Roberts only had a few lines, the show's creator Josh Schwartz recently recalled in an interview with The Huffington Post. "One of which was, 'I gotta pee,'" he added. But, luckily for Bilson, it was Summer's other brief line of dialogue that eventually became her catchphrase. Though Summer was quick to hit on Newport Beach newcomer Ryan Atwood (Benjamin McKenzie), when she found out he was from Chino in San Bernardino County -- a city that couldn't hold a candle to the Abercrombie-looking clan in Orange County -- she only had two words for him. Credit: The OC All The Way on Tumblr "Ew" became a Summer staple and Bilson -- who currently stars on The CW series "Hart of Dixie," which is produced by Schwartz -- recreated the iconic line in a video, which Schwartz posted on YouTub ...

Welcome Back To 'The O.C.,' Bitch
Huffington Post - over 3 years
It has been a decade since Ryan Atwood (Benjamin McKenzie) had his first entree into life in "The O.C.," bringing fans of teen soap along for a look at life inside the mansions of Newport Beach. The Fox drama, which premiered on August 5, 2003, was filled with envelope-pushing sexual encounters, Juicy Couture jumpsuits, Death Cab for Cutie, trips to T.J. and much, much more. Josh Schwartz was a day shy of 27 when "The O.C." first hit the airwaves, which made him the youngest TV creator ever and probably, one of the only ones who would admit to penning a highly-acclaimed pilot in his boxer shorts. From the real story behind Mischa Barton's departure to the Cohens' original name, and the missed coupling opportunities to the star who didn't even make it onto "The O.C.'s" first poster, read on to see what Schwartz revealed to The Huffington Post while looking back on "The O.C." 10 years after its debut. No, Zosia, No!
Huffington Post - over 3 years
This week's worst-dressed list is full of celebs wearing looks that need to be pared back. Lady Gaga tried too many trends at once in a sheer, leather dress that featured cut-outs and an exposed bra, while Zosia Mamet's ensemble was amiss in a bizarre pattern and matchy-matchy shoes. Then there were A-listers who experimented with off-beat colors, but ended up looking washed out. Amanda Seyfried didn't do her complexion justice in a light pink look, and Tilda Swinton wore a dress in an unflattering cut and color palette. She approached DKNY Jeans in late 2007 with a view to design a clothing line with the fashion brand. Together they created Edie Rose. The collection was launched in September 2008. It consisted of mainly black and white separates with a splash of yellow that could easily work with an existing wardrobe. Her idea was to keep fashionable items accessible to young women by keeping the prices of each piece under $100. An advertising image was released in July 2008 which featured Bilson modelling her Edie Rose collection. She said she wanted to keep her fashion line "as separate as possible from Rachel Bilson the actress. I'm hoping people will appreciate it for the clothes, not the person behind them." Much of her fashion collection was lost when her home was burglarized in May 2009.
