'Why We Should Not Trust Cas'
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
Misha Collins returns to "Supernatural" in this week's episode, "Goodbye Stranger" (9 p.m. ET on The CW), and from the outset, the actor promises, we'll "see why we should not trust Cas." HuffPost TV talked to the newly promoted series regular about Castiel's "strained" relationship with Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki), the role Crowley (Mark Sheppard) will play in the episode and more. Warning: Light spoilers ahead. What has Castiel been up to since we last saw him? Well, Naomi [Amanda Tapping] has been continuing to program Cas as something of a "Manchurian Candidate" and that programming process has been quite thorough, and fairly successful, as well. So we begin the episode with the Frankenstein Cas complete and ready for action. Sam and Dean clearly don't trust him at this point. How does Cas react to that? Does he trust himself, or does he have some awareness that he's being manipulated by Naomi? I think that Cas is slipping in and out of aware ...

Dan Persons: Tribeca 2012 Diary: Replicas' Jeremy Power Regimbal & Josh Close
Huffington Post - almost 5 years
Cherish what you've got, 'cuz it's likely others sure as hell do. In Replicas, an upscale family (Selma Blair, Josh Close -- who also wrote the screenplay -- and Quinn Lord) take a trip to their vacation home in order to recover from a recent tragedy, and receive a visit from a set of excessively friendly neighbors (Rachel Miner, James D'Arcy, and Alex Ferris) whose curiosity about the comfortable lifestyle they witness turns from merely discomfiting to out-and-out deadly. Director Jeremy Power Regimbal makes his feature film debut with this tense tale of class envy pushed to extremes. Regimbal and Close met up with me at one the Tribeca Festival's hotels, and were willing to talk a little about what motivated the project. The interview is below.

  • 2009
    Age 28
From 2009 to 2013, Miner took over the role of Meg Masters, a recurring antagonist and demon in Supernatural.
More Details Hide Details The writers wanted Meg's original actress Nicki Aycox to reprise the role in later seasons, but ultimately cast Miner for storyline purposes. Miner had not seen the series before, and only had the opportunity before filming to view a few clips of Aycox's episodes. She wanted to avoid merely copying Aycox's performance, but at the same time did not want to stray too far because it was the same character. However, she found that she did not have to alter her performance because the character was "written so specifically that the choices were very similar". Respecting prior depictions of Meg, Miner said, "I did take to heart that the character meant so much to people That became something I took into consideration because I didn't want to disappoint people by taking away from what was originally there." Upon being asked to return for "Abandon All Hope ", she declined a film offer because it conflicted with the series' filming. For the eighth season the role was intended to be larger, but Miner revealed she was suffering Multiple Sclerosis, which prevented her from doing more physical material. The character was eventually killed off later the same season. Tim Janson of Mania gave Miner's portrayal of Meg a positive review, saying no one played Meg "with such dripping sarcasm as Rachel Miner". He felt that she "always adds spice when she appears". Similarly, Diana Steenbergen of IGN felt Miner played the role "with vicious flair" and "conveyed Meg's brutality well, right from the beginning".
