Style Icon: Actor Kareena Kapoor
The Express Tribune Blogs - over 3 years
She can, without a doubt, be called Bollywood royalty as she comes from a family of stars. Kareena Kapoor is the daughter of actors Randhir Kapoor and Babita as well as Karisma Kapoor’s young sister. She is known to be one of Bollywood’s most fashionable actors. Her style is emulated by both young girls and older women as she dresses in a way that appeals to both generations. For many, Bebo is a fashion icon, and when it comes to choosing her own style gurus, the actor looks up to both her sister Karisma, and mother-in-law Sharmila Tagore. As an ode to her status as a style icon, Kareena was seen in 130 lavish dresses in her film Heroine, which cost the director a massive INR15 billion. Kareena, at the music launch of her movie Satyagraha, wore a Payal Pratap ensemble. The colourful geometric prints on the black dress, along with minimal make-up and a sleek ponytail, really stood out. Hailed as India’s first size-zero celebrity, Kareena wows in bo ...

RK Films to get active again
Bollywood Hungama - over 4 years
They are referred to as the First Family of the film industry and rightly so. After all, the Kapoors have enthralled the moviegoers for almost eight decades and continue to do so right to this day. However, since more than a decade, the prestigious banner -- R.K. Films -- has been inactive, despite the Gen X being active on the acting front. But the once revered banner is all set to strike back. "Yes, we are planning to make a series of films. There's so much talent out there that's making wonderful movies," Randhir Kapoor states, when I ask him if R.K. is getting back at film production. The veteran actor/film-maker recently enacted a pivotal part in HOUSEFULL 2. "I'd love to act in movies, but the roles have to be meaty enough. Like the one in HOUSEFULL 2," he smiles. After directing HENNA, his father's dream project, he didn't direct any film again. Doesn't he feel like directing again? "No, there's so much young talent out there. Let's make movies with them," he retorts.

Housefull 2: Old recipe, new spices
The Express Tribune Blogs - almost 5 years
KARACHI / LAHORE:  Despite being an underdog in the league of upcoming young directors, Sajid Khan has still managed to gain recognition in B-town through his stale sense of humour which he displays at award show and his trying-too-hard and almost-there films. Sajid’s films like Hey Baby and Housefull belong to the pool of supposedly comedy films that fail to impress us. Although, Hey Baby wasn’t that bad of a film, it wasn’t original either. Housefull, a film that starred comedy king Akshay Kumar, Ritesh Deshmuk, Lara Dutta and Deepika Padukone, on the other hand, was all about hot girls, good-looking men, beautiful beaches and occasional humour — a formula that earned a decent response at the box office in 2010. With its sequel however, Sajid has multiplied the same formula and sprinkled it with a few good item numbers. In addition to Akshay Kumar and Ritesh Deshmukh, Housefull 2 stars John Abraham, Asin, Jacqueline Fernandez and Zarine Khan. ...

Housefull 2
Bollywood Hungama - almost 5 years
By and large, what kind of anticipation does one have from the new installment of a successful franchise? Also, the query that crosses one's mind is, will the new installment offer better-quality entertainment, will it promise guffaws and belly laughs [in this case] and in turn, prove to be a money spinner at the ticket window? HOUSEFULL 2 has a massive cast -- it retains a few names from the first part [Akshay, Riteish, Boman Irani], but has a number of entrants as well [John, Shreyas, Asin, Jacqueline, Shazahn, Zarine, Rishi, Randhir, Mithun] -- and it's, obviously, bigger in scale. Besides, like the first part, the new installment has most of the drama happening inside a mansion. The only aspect that doesn't change is Sajid Khan's objective of providing entertainment. Get amused, have ample laughs and exit the auditorium grinning from ear to ear, that's his funda. HOUSEFULL 2 belongs to the same school of zany comedies that gave us NO ENTRY, WELCOME, the GOLMAAL series and ...
