Sky Claim FA Cup Final 3D Bonus For Second Year In A Row

As previously expected, Sky have announced a deal with ESPN to serve as an additional broadcaster of this season’s The FA Cup Final, with the hotly anticipated annual event in football in England (which this season (2011-12) will be contested by Chelsea and Liverpool) to be shown live on the Sky 3D channel on 5 May, along with regular domestic networks ITV1 and ESPN.
Both regular FA Cup rights holders in England (ITV and ESPN) have announced that they will be showing the match (which for the first time will kick off at a more TV-friendly 5:15pm as opposed to the traditional 3:00pm) in both standard and high definition, while Sky’s coverage will be 3D-only, set to title their programming slot as ‘ESPN 3D’, due to ESPN producing the coverage, but Sky being the only 3D channel able to broadcast it in the UK.
For their regular channel, though, ESPN will be hoping they have a unique selling point of broadcasting advert-free from 4:45pm ‘until the trophy is lifted’, with only minor cutsc
