Victoria Justice Cast As Janet In 'Rocky Horror' TV Remake
Huffington Post - about 1 year
Where's the justice in this casting?! Former Nickelodeon star Victoria Justice has been tapped to star as one of the leads in Fox's upcoming remake of the classic midnight movie "Rocky Horror Picture Show." Justice is set to play Janet Weiss -- Susan Sarandon's role in the original film -- one half of a naive, newly engaged couple who stumbles into the world of the self-described "sweet transvestite," Dr. Frank N. Furter. When the remake was announced back in April of last year, we were highly skeptical that a mainstream cable network could capture what makes "Rocky Horror" so damn special 40 years after its release. Casting Laverne Cox as Dr. Frank N. Furter was a huge step in the right direction.  But in what world does choosing Justice as Janet make any sense, apart from trying to convince audiences that she has shed her child-star persona in favor of some more controversial fare.  This is "Rocky Horror" not "Spring Breakers," OK?  Along with Justice, Broadway st ...

Casting Roundup: Leonardo Dicaprio Becomes President, Kelsey Grammer Becomes Expendable
Bleeding Cool - over 3 years
Leonardo Dicaprio still dreams of Oscar, Aaron Eckhart gives exorcism a shot and Kelsey Grammer is the latest Expendable in today’s roundup. • Remember how loose canon, crazy-eyed Nicolas Cage was courted for The Expendables 3? Well, he passed and we get Frasier Crane instead. Kelsey Grammer is taking the role once earmarked for Cage, that of an ally of the aging action stars crew consisting of Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terry Crews, Antonio Banderas, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren and Wesley Snipes. The source claims Grammer has a new tough guy image thanks to his series Boss and an upcoming villain role in Transformers: Age of Extinction, but personally I will never get this out of my head. [Deadline] • Hot on the heels of another success at the box office, horror power player Blumhouse has lined up their next project, Incarnate, set to star Aaron Eckhart. Eckhart will play an unconventional exorcist who can tap into the subconsc ...

Ryan Phillippe, Ashley Greene Dating?
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
Time for another sort-of not really couple alert? Alrighty then! Ryan Phillippe and Ashley Greene were photographed leaving Vignette Lounge in West Hollywood Thursday night. The 38-year-old ex-husband of Reese Witherspoon and 26-year-old "Twilight" actress attempted to go incognito as they dodged photographers and dashed into Phillippe's vehicle. The photos can be viewed here. Greene recently split from boyfriend Reeve Carney, who appears as the lead in Broadway's rock musical "Spider-Man." Phillippe has previously been romantically linked to Abbie Cornish, Amanda Seyfried and Reese Witherspoon, with whom he has two children, Ava and Deacon.

It's Over For Ashley Greene And Reeve Carney
Huffington Post - over 4 years
It's over for Ashley Greene and Reeve Carney. Us Weekly reports that the "Twilight" actress and the Broadway actor have gone their separate ways after 10 months of dating. The relationship suffered from each person's increasingly demanding schedule, the magazine claims. They are "crazy with their schedule," one source told the publication. Another told the rag that "[Greene] knows this is a pivotal time in her career. I wouldn't say I could never see them getting back together but right now they are doing their own thing." Carney, 29, appears as the star in the hit rock musical, "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark." Greene, 25, is currently on a promotional tour for the franchise finale of the "Twilight" saga, "Breaking Dawn - Part 2." Greene, who has previously dated musicians Joe Jonas and Kings of Leon bassist Jared Followill, told Marie Clarie in its November issue that she didn't have enough time for romance. "You go on a couple of dates, and the someone ships off ...

2012 Tony Award Nominations Wish List
The Faster Times - almost 5 years
Below is what I would want to see nominated for Tony Awards in a few of the 26 categories. This is not my prediction of what the Tony nominating committee will actually announce Tuesday morning, May 1st. Update: For the actual 2012 Tony Award nominations, click here. (Scroll to the bottom for the complete list of all those eligible in eight major Tony categories) MY SELECTIONS Best Play: Chinglish Clybourne Park
The Lyons Other Desert Cities New plays were especially strong this year, and there were really good productions of some scripts that were not the best work of individual playwrights, such as David Auburn’s The Columnist, or of playwrights in general, such as Peter and the Starcatcher. Best Musical: Ghost Newsies Once There are supposed to be four nominees in this category but I can’t in good conscience pick any of the remaining new musicals that qualify. There are only eight shows in total that qualify in this category this year, and most ranged from dis ...

Injured stuntman takes legal action against Broadway's 'Spider-Man'
LATimes - almost 5 years
The web of legal woes grows for "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark."  A "Spidey" stuntman has filed court papers seeking information about the death-defying stunts performed in the Broadway mega-musical -- a legal move that could mark the prelude to a lawsuit. Richard Kobak claims he was injured while performing the show's many aerial acrobatics, and the production was slow to take action to fix safety equipment. In an affidavit filed with the New York Supreme Court, Kobak claims in one such incident he was left with whiplash, a concussion and herniated discs in his back after an airborne stunt gone wrong slammed him face-first into a wall. The accident-prone production, which opened in June, has seen plenty of crash landings. About a half dozen performers were injured during the rehearsals and previews. This is not the only legal action for the production. Julie Taymor, the show’s original director and co-creator, is suing producers for copyright issues. Producers have counters ...
