Michael Molina: Dregs: Five Videos of Future Reality
Huffington Post - about 4 years
As Reginald VelJohnson once wrote in his memoir, reality shows are the mirror of society. They materialize on-screen our twisted pleasures and fears: poor people, ghosts, poor ghosts. Yet, like two parallel mirrors, reality shows can only reflect the present and past. They are an endless procession of the same object repeated precisely ad infinitum ad nauseam. For the plebeian there is no possibility to see beyond the present infinity. Until now. Where reality shows falter, dregs take hold. As these five videos will demonstrate, prophets on YouTube have brought back from future times the evolution of humans in entertainment. Dinosaurs and Talk Show Hosts will finally work together: How all bands will be formed: How humans will audition for roles: All television shows will be reruns of this: All films will be this:

'Childrens Hospital' Season 4: Emmy-Nominated Absurdity!
Huffington Post - over 4 years
Knowing that "Childrens Hospital" (Season 4 premieres Thurs., Aug. 9, midnight ET on Adult Swim) is the brainchild of Rob Corddry will make you wonder a bit about Rob Corddry's brain. The most comforting thing? He still can't find a simple way to describe this bizarre, short-form, no rules comedy parody show that started as a web series and can now call itself an Emmy-nominated staple in Adult Swim's midnight primetime lineup. "I say it's an absurd comedy about a bunch of doctors who do inappropriate things in the workplace ... and their workplace happens to be a children's hospital," Corddry said. "But that doesn't really describe the show -- it's hard to describe absurdity in general I think." The show's audience might be niche, but Corddry loves that people who get it, find it. "We're never gonna get 'American Idol' numbers. I would just be so happy to reach half of the people in the world that like this kind of comedy. That would be awesome." I caught up with Cord ...

New Tron Uprising Trailer Takes Us To The Grid
Obsessed with Film - What Cultur - almost 5 years
The New Disney XD animated series Tron Uprising begins in June and this new trailer, offering a closer look at the hand drawn elements of the show, looks pretty stunning. With a voice cast that boasts  Elijah Wood, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Mandy Moore, Nate Corddry, (the man, the legend) Lance Henriksen, Paul Reubens, Reginald VelJohnson and Bruce Boxleitner reprising his role as Tron, this animated show looks to do what the movies have done and not look like anything else Disney creates and slants towards a more grown up audience. So the synopsis goes, this series will have Tron training young program Beck to battle against Clu on the grid. So far the teasers are looking very impressive indeed and the computer animation is doing a nice job and capturing and expanding what was achievedin both the original Tron and Tron Legacy. I don’t know about you guys but Tron always seems to capture something in my imagination. I have a passing admiration for the original and I flat out loved th ...

Die Hard Quadrilogy – Blu-ray Review
HeyUGuys.co.uk - almost 5 years
If this long-overdue Blu-ray reissue hadn’t come about, this franchise would have thoroughly deserved a HeyUGuys Video Vault special anyway. With recent news of a fifth instalment (A Good Day To Die Hard) going ahead, it is an ideal time to re-evaluate the existing entries in this genre-defining series and see what a Blu-ray brush-up has done to them. Die Hard came towards the end of a decade that was characterised, at least within the action genre, by one-man-machine films. Rambo, Commando, Predator, Cobra, DTV entries from Dolph Lundgren and the burgeoning attempts of Seagal and Van Damme, all vied for our attention. Then along came Die Hard. Its director, John McTiernan, had already visited the genre to considerable success and acclaim with Arnie’s none-more-eighties Predator, but this was something else entirely. So familiar has the skyscraper-high concept become (one man, stuck with a load of terrorists, fighting for his life etc) that one can forget that this is where it bega ...
