Filter returns to form on 'Sun Comes Out'
San Francisco Chronicle - over 3 years
Filter returns to form on 'Sun Comes Out' Before its brutal cover of "Happy Together" ended up in Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby" trailer, Filter was best remembered for the 1999 hit "Take a Picture." After a stint in rehab just over a decade ago, front man and former Nine Inch Nails guitarist Richard Patrick, 45, has managed to keep recording and touring with a revolving cast of players while starting a family. Filter's sixth studio album, "The Sun Comes Out Tonight," out this week, has been described as a return to form. Worst part of this gig is that you can't be with your children as much as you want. Haven't you sat them down and explained how the studio-promo-tour cycle works? When you read my book, you're going to be, Holy mother of God. People constantly tell me, "I don't like your band anymore because you don't like machine guns." Aidin Vaziri is The San Francisco Chronicle's pop music critic.
