A Real Housewife Gets Real Funny in Off-Broadway's "NEWSical the Musical"
Huffington Post - about 3 years
It's very rare to see an Off-Broadway show in New York have special guest stars but on Monday night, I was one of the privileged few invited to the opening night of Real Housewives of Atlanta star and Grammy Award Winner Kandi Burruss' two week run in NEWSical the Musical and boy, was I glad I got the invite. NEWSical, written by Rick Crom, is the long-running Off-Broadway musical comedy that lampoons everyone in the news from Miley Cyrus to The Pope in 90 minutes of hilarious skits and songs that update as quickly as the news changes. Rice Crop Gains in Africa, Asia but Prices High
Voice of America - almost 5 years
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization says the world rice harvest for 2012 should top the 2011 crop, mainly because of gains in Asia. It says the harvest should rebound in Africa, but fall in the European Union and the United States. Despite the upbeat forecast for rice production, the Food and Agriculture Organization's report notes that increased output has failed to translate into lower prices for consumers. In its new report Friday, the FAO predicts world rice production at the paddy level will exceed 730 million metric tons for 2012 - up almost two percent from 2011. FAO senior economist Concepcion Calpe says good harvests in Asia, in particular, will lead to a decline in demand in the global rice trade. Global trade is expected to fall by 900,000 tons to 34.3 million metric tons. “This year because a lot of the major importers, like Indonesia or the Philippines or even Bangladesh first have harvested very good crops and second some of them - like the Philippi ...

It's playing right now at Upstairs at Studio 54, where a neurotic Liza Minnelli is singing atop a bar, Barbra Streisand is waxing lyrical about politics and a pneumatic Anna Nicole Smith is making a spectacle of herself.
