THE RUTLES REFORM FOR CASH Mock rockers The Rutles are reuniting to celebrate the 30th anniversary of cult Beatles spoof movie All You Need Is Cash. As well as a digitally-restored screening of the Eric Idle film, it's rumoured all four members of the fictional line-up - Idle, Neil Innes, Ricky Fataar and John Halsey (who played Dirk, Nasty, Stig and Barry, respectively) - will serve up a few live musical treats to the audience at the gala event in Hollywood. Grauman's Egyptian Theatre will also play host to a treasure trove of Rutles rarities, including the rare TV skit that inspired the movie, highlights from 2003 sequel Rutles 2: Can't Buy Me Lunch, and a whole host of Rutles footage from legendary U.S. comedy sketch show Saturday Night Live. After the screening of the film on 17 March (08), all four Rutles will partake in a Q&A session with fans. The landmark celebration forms part of Hollywood's Mods & Rockers Film Festival, which was launched in 1999 and has grown to become America's largest annual festival of rock-culture films. The idea for The Rutles was borne out of the hysteria triggered by The Beatles in 60s. Among the A-list stars to have appeared in the comedy films are Robin Williams, Steve Martin, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Tom Hanks and Carrie Fisher, as well as real life musicians David Bowie, Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon, Slash - and George Harrison himself.
