Ben Savage Shares Girl Meets World Behind-the-Scenes Cast Photo With Danielle Fishel
US Magazine - about 3 years
Cory and Topanga forever! Ben Savage shared a new photo of the Girl Meets World cast via Instagram on Thursday, Jan. 9. The actor -- best-known for playing Cory Matthews in Boy Meets World from 1993 to 2000 -- is set to reprise the role in its spin-off this year. PHOTO: '90s TV stars -- then and now "Girl Meets World," the 33-year-old simply wrote. In the photo, Savage posed with his arm around his onscreen wife Danielle Fishel, 32, who will be reprising her role as Topanga Lawrence. The old-timers were also joined by their young cast and onscreen daughter Rowan Blanchard. It was announced exactly one year ago that the 12-year-old would be headed to the Disney Channel sitcom.  PHOTOS: Boy Meets World stars -- then and now "As soon as Rowan walked into the room, I was reminded of why Ben Savage was loved as Cory Matthews," GMW producer Michael Jacobs told Entertainment Weekly last January. "Rowan is real and accessible, and I am hopeful this girl is about to meet a world tha ...

Danielle Fishel On Topanga, Linda Cardellini And Growing Up Onscreen
Huffington Post - over 3 years
When "Boy Meets World" hit ABC in 1993, Danielle Fishel became Topanga Lawrence to the world. From that moment on, she was forever linked to her onscreen high school sweetheart Cory Matthews (Ben Savage), and 20 years later everyone still calls her "Topanga." In honor of the DVD release of "Boy Meets World: The Complete Collection" and the premiere of "Girl Meets World" (premiering on the Disney Channel in 2014), Fishel opened up to The Huffington Post about what to expect from "Girl Meets World," being Topanga, her relationship with her co-stars and more. What was it like growing up onscreen? Wonderful! I don’t have any complaints. Even during the years when I was awkward-looking or overweight, it didn’t really worry me that millions of people were watching me go through it. I get my self-worth from within, not external validation, so I just look at all those years as scripted home movies. You've said you're really enjoying working with Ben Savage again. Did you two stay close o ...

The 'Boy Meets World' Cast Reunites (VIDEO)
Huffington Post - over 3 years
"Good Morning America" and Entertainment Weekly's TV reunion extravaganza continued on Tuesday, and it was the "Boy Meets World" cast's turn to get in on the reminiscing. With the spinoff series "Girl Meets World" scheduled to premiere on the Disney Channel in 2014, the characters remain just as popular as ever. William Daniels, who played Mr. Feeny, said he was recently chased by a pack of children getting off a school bus, yelling his character’s name. "And I'm a coward, I ran. I ran all the way around the block," Daniels said. The cast also looked back on the show fondly, with a few exceptions. "Our fashion was pretty horrible," Rider Strong, who played Shawn Hunter, said. "I'm still not stoked on the hair. Like, that was just a horrible seven year choice," he said. But Danielle Fischel (Topanga) reassured him. "You're the only one who wasn't stoked on your hair," she said. TV Replay scours the vast television landscape to find the most interesting, amusing, and, on a good ...

During a press conference after the reunion panel, Jacobs and Savage shared more information on what fans can expect from the sequel series, which will follow Cory and Topanga's (Danielle Fishel) daughter Riley (Rowan Blanchard) in her own coming-of-age story. One reporter wondered how heavily the new series would lean on its predecessor in terms of references or in-jokes, but Jacobs insisted that "‘Girl’ is gonna be its own show -- I think that’s really important ... The "Girl Meets World" cast has found its lead with Rowan Blanchard, who will play Cory and Topanga's daughter. Cory Matthews Speaks: 'Girl Meets World' Star Ben Savage Talks 'Poetic' Spinoff
The Huffington Post - about 4 years
While Danielle Fishel and Rider Strong have been busy penning open letters to fans about the "Boy Meets World" spinoff "Girl Meets World," Ben Savage (Cory Matthews) opened up to Rolling Stone about the series. "It wasn't that I was resistant [to sign on]," Savage said of taking on the role of grown up Cory, a high school history teacher, in the "Girl Meets World" pilot. "I think it was just a matter of making sure all of us were on the same page about what we were going to do in terms of making the show last another seven years, hopefully. There were different options around of following our characters or following this. But it just seems a little poetic that we're coming back 13 years later and it's following our daughter's character. I like that concept, because it's very poetic and it's kind of passing it off to the next generation." Read More... More on Video
