Standouts from four different Houston-area were named to the Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writer’s Association Class 3A all-state team released earlier this week. Player of the Year: Pitcher/third baseman Logan Vinklarek who led La Grange to a Class 3A state baseball championship is the Player of the Year. Vinklarek was 9-2 pitching with a 1.71 earned run average. He also batted .366 with 32 runs batted in. La Grange’s Brad Harbors was the Coach of the Year. He retired after the state championship game. MARCH Boxing Club enjoyed another good open dinner show on Friday night at the Braza Club. The one disappointment on the night was the defeat of March’s Danny Hedges in his 50kg Eastern Counties Junior ABA bout against Karl Davis from Billericay. Hedges made a slow start against a fleet-footed Davis but in the second he started to catch up applying pressure better. In the third round Hedges was flat out throughout and thought he done enough. But it was too little too late and Davis was awarded the points win. March’s Harry Rody really gave his bout away against Riley Smith of Haddenham & Ely ABC. The win was there for the taking but Harry did not perform to his best and lost on points. Mark Crosby, who has a bye in the Junior ABA championships, struggled against the hard-hitting Bradley Pauls of Portsmouth Golden Ring. Bonnie Kay Roszman BUCYRUS: Bonnie K. Roszman, 57, of Bucyrus, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Bucyrus Community Hospital following complications from various health issues. She was born November 3, 1954 in Columbus, Ohio to Edward Hiram Smith who resides in Bucyrus and Vivian Arlee (Roley) Smith who preceded her in death. Bonnie graduated from Toledo Bowsher High School in 1973. Later that year she met Charles Roszman and on November 9, 1974 they got married. In 1982 they dissolved their marriage and Bonnie married Mike Ziegler in September of 1983. They were married until an automobile accident took his life in 1988 and in 1996 she remarried Charles. Together they attended many, many classic rock concerts, Chicago being her favorite although she saw Jethro Tull six times supporting her husband's love for them. Bonnie was high spirited and cherished time spent with friends and family. She enjoyed her weekend trips with Ruth Chapman, Rose Weisenauer and Brenda Hansford as well as the ...

    More Details Hide Details Smith took up the guitar to fill downtime while on film sets, and in 2006, he and Henri O'Connor formed the band "The Life of Riley", of which he is guitarist and lead singer. His original idea was to write music that could be used in his films, but when he and his bandmates had written 16 songs, they picked 11 and cut an album. The song most important to Riley is "Forget about me". He describes the lyrics as clear and simple and yet very deep and emotional. As of August 2010, the Los Angeles-based group has released 3 CDs: The Life of Riley (2007), Long Way Home EP (2009) and Live in Hollywood at the Hotel Cafe (2010). They have also performed at such music festivals as the New Bohemia Music Festival.
