JPMorgan Execs Are Wearing Those Super Geeky Track Jackets Ahead Of Twitter's IPO
Business Insider - over 3 years
JPMorgan Chase execs are totally geeking out over the Twitter initial public offering.  According to CNBC's Kayla Tausche, JPMorgan was blasting "Rockin' Robin" as Twitter execs took the stage on the 50th floor of the bank's Park Avenue offices for the IPO roadshow. It's unclear which version of the song they were playing, but we're going to guess it was the original by Bobby Day.  Also, according to Tausche, JPMorgan made custom track jackets for the IPO similar to what they did with Facebook. This time, though, the jackets have been upgraded to Lululemon.   Check it out (photo credit: Amara Omeokwe):  Here's Rockin' Robin: Join the conversation about this story »

Chris Williams: We're Missing You, MJ
Popeater - over 3 years
Four years ago, the untimely passing of Michael Jackson sent a shockwave through the entire globe. Many tears were shed by his adoring fans. Impromptu celebrations transpired across the world to honor his grand memory. Jackson was one of the very few artists, who transcended the world of music and the world as a whole through his irrevocable influence. And we dearly miss him. The world first became intrigued with the precocious nine year old prodigy singing the affectionately tinged record "I Want You Back" in 1969. Jackson and his brothers instantly became an extension of our families. The way they danced and sang was infectious from the very beginning. Songs like "ABC," "The Love You Save," and "I'll Be There" left a lasting impression on your soul. Their soulful and heartfelt melodies gave the world a reason to dance and smile in unison. As the Civil Rights movement came to a close, the 1970s embraced the Jackson 5 and the hits kept coming by the boatload such ...

Jacquie Jordan: Roger Ebert Passing the Torch to the Next Generation
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
People die every day. Just like babies being born. It's a fact of life, and a part of nature. But when a television icon passes, it's a unique experience, as it always strikes the cultural collective heart chord of a time gone by. In the wake of the recent, but not surprising, passing of iconic movie critic Roger Ebert, his death also concludes an entire way in which we experience movie reviews on television. When Siskel and Ebert (Gene Siskel predeceased partner Ebert by more than a decade) gave their legendary "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" during the long run of At the Movies with Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert, depending on whom we favored, we would identify with them whether or not a movie was worth going to see. The conclusion of Ebert's passing gives rise to "thumbs up" of not two movie critics shelling out their point of view, but a new generation of individuals who vote their favorites by Rotten Tomatoes or social media spread. The dynasty of this legendary duo en ...

Robin Gelfenbien: Paul Ryan, We Don't Need Another Weinergate (VIDEO)
Huffington Post - over 4 years
A hearty hot dog hello to you, Congressman Ryan! It's me. Former Wienermobile driver, Robin Gelfenbien, again. So how's life on the campaign trail so far? You and Mitt getting along okay? Finding time to squeeze in those P90X workouts? Look I know you've been busy pressing the flesh and distancing yourself from Todd Akin's "legitimate rape" remark, but there's still something you need to tend to stat. As I mentioned in my last post to you, you need to be honest about your Wienermobile past. Now I have to commend you on not repeating the mistakes of Anthony Weiner. You have done a brilliant job deflecting the media's questions about your stint as a Wienermobile driver. However, the American people are still under the impression that you landed one of the coveted jobs of Hotdogger, and as a former Hotdogger, I'm a little bit insulted. I had a 1 percent chance of getting that job. 1 percent. You know, like what Mitt would have paid in taxes under your plan. Gi ...

For fans, will the Jackson 4 add up?
LATimes - over 4 years
The brothers are touring. After Michael's death, they find it a healing experience. But dates were canceled, and Sunday's concert at the Greek is not sold out. When Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon bring their "Unity Tour" to the Greek Theatre on Sunday, they will perform hits from the Jackson 5 catalog. They may even bust a few vintage dance moves. But each knows it's going to take a lot more than a rousing version of "Rockin' Robin" to mask the bigger question surrounding the tour: Are they a viable act without Michael?
