10 Eyebrows As Famous As The Men Who Own Them
Huffington Post - 3 months
By Adam Hurly for GQ. Good eyebrows are mostly genetic — plucking will clean things up, but it can only do so much. And no two pairs are alike for the same reason: Drake’s bushy brows might look good on him, but they’d seem funny on John Boyega’s face; Boyega’s magnificently arched, ultra-friendly brows would detract from Drake’s bad-boy cred, and so on. We hope you have two reactions to brows-ing this gallery: a newfound appreciation for geometry, and gratitude that we included exactly zero unibrows. DRAKE Drake must “Take Care” of his thick brows; they look like a painter’s perfectly graduated brushstroke, and strongly complement his dark beard and mustache. RELATED: The Lazy Man’s Guide to Eyebrow Grooming ROBERT PATTINSON Pattinson has tried some oddball hairstyles, but his eyebrows remain unchanged. They’re his most distinct feature, though we won’t discredit any other part of that made-for-Hollywood mug. DANIEL RADCLIFFE Radcliffe’s brows fan inwar ...

Film Review: 'The 33'
Huffington Post - about 1 year
Photo Credit: Warner Brothers Pictures I haven't been held in such suspense since I jumped the Corinth canal only to have my bungee snap off; The 33 showcases the human condition in all its complexities. In 2010, 33 miners in Chile were buried alive by a mine explosion and left with only three days of food to survive. It would take 69 days and an international effort to bring all 33 miners to safety and above ground. How did they survive? And what can audiences learn from their decision to persevere against all odds. 200 stories beneath ground level with their only exit blocked by a boulder twice the mass of the empire state building, the miners mobilized in ways that would stun and magnetize viewers globally. The story of the explosion serves as a backdrop to introduce the based on real life 33 miners who were sent by a mining company to collect gold and copper in a mine they had been forewarned was fatally unstable. What do you do when faced with the decision to trust y ...

Antonio Banderas Says Chile's Rescued Miners Taught World 'The Value Of Life'
Huffington Post - about 3 years
SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) — Actor Antonio Banderas says the 33 Chilean miners who were trapped deep underground for 69 days in 2010 taught the world a huge lesson about the value of human life. Banderas and French actress Juliette Binoche are starring in a film that dramatizes the cave-in at the mine in Chile's Atacama desert and the globally televised rescue of the miners that mesmerized millions across the globe. They met Friday with the miners and Chilean leader Sebastian Pinera at the presidential palace. The miners and cast, who also includes Brazilian Rodrigo Santoro and Irishman Gabriel Byrne, were received by hundreds of screaming fans outside the palace. "Millions of people and I include myself were glued to the TV following this story as these men held to the rocks inside that mine for nearly 70 days with the only dream of getting to see sunlight again; realizing the true importance of water, of food, the look of their children, the eyes of their wives - the value of life," Ban ...

Which Best Part Of 'Love Actually' Is Actually The Best?
Huffington Post - over 3 years
Feel it in your fingers: On Nov. 7, 2003, "Love Actually" was released in 576 theaters in North America. Written and directed by Richard Curtis, the film earned $6,886,080, over its debut frame, a pittance of what would come: $246 million in global grosses and a permanent place alongside "It's A Wonderful Life," "Scrooged," "The Muppet Christmas Carol," "A Christmas Story" and "Elf" as a must-watch movie during the holiday season. While "Love Actually" fans can agree that the romantic comedy is a modern-day classic of the genre, one debate is much more combative: Just which of the film's nine story threads is actually the best? To decide, HuffPost Entertainment enlisted a team of editors "Love Actually" experts to, once and for all, make the definitive case for their favorite part of "Love Actually." Evidential proof of our findings is below. Juliet, Peter & Mark Love hurts. It's messy, intense and it often breaks your heart into a million unsalvageable pieces. The aching tr ...

WATCH: J. Lo Strikes Movie Gold With New Role
Huffington Post - over 3 years
Jennifer Lopez just struck movie gold. The 43-year-old singer and actress may be receiving a milestone star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, but the good news for J. Lo doesn’t stop there. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Puerto Rican star has just signed on to appear in the Chilean miner drama “The 33.” In June 2011, it was reported that producer Mike Medavoy had acquired the rights of the film based on the 2010 Chilean mining accident, in which 33 miners were trapped in the San José copper–gold mine in Copiapó, Chile. At the time, the world was captivated with rescue efforts and stories of the miners who remained underground for 69 days. Now their story is set to hit the big screen with the help of Lopez, Martin Sheen, Rodrigo Santoro, and Antonio Banderas. “One year after the collapse of the mine, we consider this to be a great step towards the realization of a film based on our experience in the mine,” Chilean miner Juan Andrés Illanes told ...

Exodus; Jude Law becomes latest star to leave Jane film shoot
Banmoco - almost 4 years
Jude Law this week became the latest star to quit Jane Got a Gun, a troubled production which has already seen its director and a star other than Law exit the project. The film first hit headlines at the start of the week when director Lynne Ramsay failed to report to the Santa Fe set on what was meant to be the first full day of shooting. Gavin O’Connor, who directed Warrior, replaced Ramsay – however the switch did nothing to prevent Law also jumping ship. Hunger star Michael Fassbaner became the first notable exit, citing a conflict of schedules. His role was then snapped up by Joel Edgerton, who still remains tied to the production alongside Oscar winner Lady Portman and Brazilian actor Rodrigo Santoro. According to sources, Law had only agreed to star in the film due to Ramsay directing and chose not to remain after her exit. Scott Steindoff, the producer of the project, has already expressed his shock and disappointment at Ramsay’s failure to attend the scheduled first day ...

In Defense Of The 'Lost' Episode Everyone Hated
Huffington Post - about 4 years
When people complain about season 3 of Lost nowadays, most of the problems inevitably come back around to Nikki and Paolo, the young lovers played by Kiele Sanchez and Rodrigo Santoro. In stark contrast to other late additions like the Tailies or the Others, Nikki and Paolo weren't intruders in the show's main cast; they were introduced as if they had been hanging out on the beach ever since the plane crash. It was an interesting idea; unfortunately, it turned out that the other 35 castaways didn't have very much to do besides hang out and wait for Locke or Jack to make a speech.

Film review: What to Expect When You’re Expecting - tales of the expected
The Express Tribune Blogs - over 4 years
As expected, the formulaic romantic comedy, What to Expect When You’re Expecting, isn’t a film pregnant in originality. While it does have its share of amusing moments, thanks to some one-liners from actor/comedian Chris Rock, on the whole, its narrative is more on par with a sterile sitcom, than a quality feature film. That being said, the film is well acted, and stars an ensemble cast, who form the film’s five couples in focus that are on the road to parenthood. The first couple we are introduced to are the bickering Jules (Cameron Diaz) and Evan (Matthew Morrison), who find themselves unexpectedly pregnant after getting romantically involved on a celebrity dance show. There are Holly (Jennifer Lopez), and Alex (Rodrigo Santoro), who are a loving couple that are finding it difficult to make ends meet, as well as conceive naturally, and end up looking to adopt a poverty-stricken baby from Africa. The youngest pair of the film are Marco (Chace Crawf ...

Will "Dudes" Like What to Expect When You're Expecting?
Moviefone Blog - almost 5 years
I was a little taken aback when I saw the overtly male-focused trailer for What to Expect When You're Expecting. After all, What to Expect is a chick flick, right? Well, yes and no. It definitely has some major chick flick hallmarks (J-Lo! Matthew Morrison! Babies!), but it also has other elements that indicate it may be something different (Chris Rock! Brooklyn Decker! Jokes about bodily fluids!). The film's marketers have even set up a Facebook group to attract male fans called The Dude's Group, named after the daddy crew in the movie. The group, comprised of comedians like Rock, Rob Huebel (The Human Giant, I Love You, Man) and Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!) hadn't attracted a ton of dudes. At press time, only 1,382 Likes, including a fair number of ladies, had been registered. However, it did appear to pique the interest of several dude-minded daddies. Dudes will most likely enjoy The Dude's Group scenes in the movie. (I'm channeling my inner dude here to make such predictions.) Afte ...

Rodrigo Santoro: New 'What to Expect' TV Spot!
Just Jared - almost 5 years
Rodrigo Santoro shows off his muscles in a photo spread for Flaunt‘s “The Psychoanalytic Issue: Behavioral Patterns”. Here is what the 36-year-old What to Expect When You’re Expecting actor had to share with the mag: On his role as Jennifer Lopez‘s husband: “The character’s name is Nate, [which is] not Latin. That was written completely American, but it ended up being me. So I don’t really feel like things are so narrow. Of course, I have my accent, and I will be a foreigner, but it doesn’t have to be ‘Brazilian’ or ‘French’ or ‘Italian’ per se. So, things are more open in that way, and that feels good.” On producing and starring in the biopic Heleno: “The director said, ‘Well, you should produce with us.’ I said, ‘I don’t know about that; I’m an actor.’ The process was exhausting because I was acting at the same time, but it taught me a lot. Once we started shooting, I told them, ‘Look, I’ve got to focus, because I’m playing this character now. So don’t ask me, like, how ...
