Alexander Skarsgård Opens Up About Filming 'Incredible' Gay Sex Scenes
Huffington Post - 8 months
For Alexander Skarsgård, playing a pansexual vampire for seven seasons on the HBO smash, "True Blood," was a "profound" experience. The show's Golden Globe- and Emmy-winning run, of course, regularly made headlines for its love scenes, many of which involved characters of the same sex. Skarsgård, however, wasn't fazed by the steamy scenes between him and co-stars Theo Alexander and Ryan Kwanten, he said in a new interview with PrideSource.   "It was just one of the most profound experiences ever. Just liberating. Even though there's sh*t loads of nudity on the show, it never felt gratuitous," he said. As for the man-on-man love scenes, he noted, "You just have to embrace it... They're incredible scenes." Ultimately, Skarsgård is proud of having been a part of a series that was so willing to push the envelope when it came to portraying sexuality on the small screen.  "What was so interesting about the show was that it wasn't on the nose. It's obviously a cultural reference ...

'Punisher' Fan Film Gets Shut Down By Marvel
MTV News - over 3 years
By Alex Zalben We’ve been eagerly anticipating the Punisher fan film “The Dead Can’t Be Distracted” since it was announced a few months ago. But now, after a cease and desist letter from Marvel, it looks like the film will never see the light of day. And even more importantly and portentously, what does this mean for the future of fan films – and the future of Punisher on the big screen? That’s a lot of questions, but first a bit of history. In a five page long open letter on his website, creator Mike Pecci extensively runs through the production, development, and eventual demise of “The Dead Can’t Be Distracted.” It’s a fascinating read full of a lot of tech info on filming, and even a few shots and a screen test. In fact, given that Marvel wrote a cease and desist stating: "While we appreciate your affection for the character, we must demand that you immediately stop your unauthorized use, advertising, sale and/or distribution of any production of The Punisher or any other Ma ...

It sure seems like it, because the 36-year-old star pulled a Pitt and also debuted a new, clean-shaven look this week. The star arrived at the Toronto Film Festival on Tuesday to promote his latest movie, The Right Kind of Wrong — but he ended up promoting a shaved head, shaved beard and mustache, too. RELATED PHOTOS: Check out even more bold star hair changes here! And gah! We still can’t decide how we feel about Kwanten’s new locks (or, rather, lack thereof). After 35 Years and 135 Rejections, My Novel's a Movie at TIFF
Huffington Post - over 3 years
Tim Sandlin is the author of the novel Sex and Sunsets. The film The Right Kind of Wrong -- which screens Thursday, Sept. 12 at TIFF 2013 -- was adapted from Sandlin's work. The Right Kind of Wrong was directed by Jeremiah S. Chechik, produced by Robert Lantos, and stars Ryan Kwanten. Megan Martin wrote the screenplay. I started writing Sex and Sunsets 35 years ago when I was living in a backpacker tent in the Gros Ventre Mountains because I'd lost my tipi in a divorce. By night, I was washing dishes at Anthony's Italian Restaurant in Jackson, Wyoming. A month after my divorce I discovered you can touch women if you dance Western swing in the Cowboy Bar, so that's what I did for 10 years. The combination of Jim Beam and hour upon hour of aerobic exercise made me one of the healthier drunks in Wyoming. One night I started a letter to my friend Greg. "The need has come to explain myself. First: I hear voices in running water." Twenty pages in, I realized two things. 1) This was too g ...

Anna Paquin Shows Off Toned Post-Baby Body in Lingerie on True Blood

Anna Paquin's post-baby body is in better shape than her pre-baby body! In the July 14 episode of HBO's True Blood, the 30-year-old actress stripped down to lacy lingerie, showing off her defined abs, lean legs and toned arms. Paquin -- who welcomed fraternal twins Charlie and Poppy in September 2012 -- wasn't the only one showing some skin in the fifth episode of the vampire drama's sixth season. In addition to her character, Sookie Stackhouse, Ben Flynn/Macklyn Warlow (played by Rob Kazinsky) appeared shirtless in the scene. On “True Blood,” silliness and Holocaust allegories abound
Salon.com - over 3 years
“True Blood” begins its sixth season on Sunday night in medias res, in the middle of a vampire fight that started in last season’s finale. It’s dark, the earth is shaking and Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) and a quartet of their allies are running from a newly powerful Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), who looks like he recently washed in Carrie’s post-prom pig’s-blood bathwater. The sequence is hard to follow and over the top -- vampires keep disappearing in puffs of blood -- but titillation, not coherence, is “True Blood’s" mission. Getting exasperated at it for being as silly, faux-sexy and dim as Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) is like hating on a swimsuit calendar for not containing helpful bits of wisdom. Don’t go shopping for sense at the nonsense store. Each season, “True Blood” picks up an allegory, tosses it around for a few episodes, and then tosses it aside. In the past, vampirism has been used to gesture at homophobia, racism, religious f ...

Josh Hutcherson Battles A Bunch Of Vampires For Flag Football Supremacy
MTV News - about 4 years
He might be two movies deep into "The Hunger Games" franchise, but all that action in the arena hasn't dampened Josh Hutcherson's thirst for competition. The actor was one of two dozen Hollywood favorites who took the field for this weekend's DirecTV Celebrity Beach Bowl, a friendly flag football game that revs up fans for the high-octane action of the Super Bowl. Josh was the only tribute on this year's teams, but the vampire-related franchises of the entertainment world were spectacularly well-represented: Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev, Ryan Kwanten and Peter Facinelli all spent some time on the field. And for those who care, it was the Blue team (led by real, actual football player Michael Strahan) who passed, tackled and touchdown-ed their way to victory on Saturday...but let's be honest, the real appeal of the Celebrity Beach Bowl is less about the game itself and more about seeing our favorite celebs wearing shorts, talking smack and rolling around in the sand. Which they did. ...

Annette Bourdeau: Lizzy Caplan: 'Bachelorette's Secret Weapon
Huffington Post - over 4 years
They both have plenty of bodily fluids, girl drama and embarrassing speeches, but there's one thing Bachelorette has that Bridesmaids didn't: master wise-cracker Lizzy Caplan. Even if you don't know her by name, you've probably seen Caplan in something over the years. The hard-working actress has been in everything from Cloverfield to New Girl to The Class. She's best-known for her amazing ability to sling pithy zingers and scathingly sarcastic remarks, which was best showcased in the tragically short-lived series Party Down. Speaking of which, Bachelorette reunites Caplan with her adorable Party Down love interest, Adam Scott (Parks & Recreation, Step Brothers). Those still suffering from Party Down withdrawal may find temporary comfort in Bachelorette, where you can once again watch Caplan and Scott exchanging secret kisses and witty barbs. An Update and Possible Release Info on Joe Lynch's Knights of Badassdom
Dread Central - over 4 years
It was during the 2011 Comic-Con that the kick-ass trailer for Knights of Badassdom first appeared, and we've been anxiously awaiting the film's release ever since. What's the holdup? A rather interesting article on just that subject has appeared online, and we have the highlights here! John Couture of VideoETA did some digging as to why the only info available regarding the film's release has been a very vague "coming soon" for months, which, considering the star power involved with the film (it stars the currently red-hot Peter Dinklage from "Game of Thrones," Ryan Kwanten from "True Blood," and fanboy favorite Summer Glau), seems pretty absurd. First he reached out via Twitter to the director, Joe Lynch, who could only say: "Nothing more than "Coming Soon", sorry! But feel free to contact IndieVest Pictures, it's in their hands." Next he turned to Knights of Badassdom producing partner North by Northwest Entertainment, contacting Brad Harland, the CFO of North by Northwes ...
