ABC Orders The Muppets and Ken Jeong Comedies, Oil Boom, '80s L.A. Crime, FBI Dramas, and More
Yahoo News - almost 2 years
If you like days when networks pick up new shows, then today was your favorite day ever. Networks got a headstart on the Upfronts by ordering several new shows, and ABC just made the biggest order of them all! The Alphabet added three new comedies and six new dramas to its 2015-2016 season, including a reboot of The Muppets and another Shonda Rhimes drama. Stay busy, girl! Let's start with the comedies before things get too serious. The Muppets follows the personal lives of Jim Henson's lovable puppets in and out of the show that made them famous in a documentary-style presentation. We'll be witness to their love lives, professional aspirations, and everything in between. It's billed as a more adult take on The Muppets, but also kid friendly. Ummm, okay! Dr. Ken stars Community's Ken Jeong as a brilliant doctor with terrible bedside manner. But that's not all! He's also a husband and father of two, and he has a propensity for driving those around him crazy. Suzy Nakamura, Tisha-Campbel ...

Yahoo News - almost 2 years
Dallas big man Amare Stoudemire was fined $15,000 by the NBA for his angry outburst at his ejection from the Mavericks' 112-102 loss to Memphis on Friday. NBA president of basketball operations Rod Thorn announced the penalty imposed for Stoudemire's verbal abuse of a game official, and his failure to leave the court in a timely manner. Referee Scott Foster called two quick technical fouls on Stoudemire after he argued an offensive foul call against him. "I had to get my money's worth at that point," Stoudemire said.

Carmelo Anthony Was Not Happy With Refs After Being Denied 4-Point Play Against Rockets (VIDEO)
Huffington Post - over 3 years
In the climactic moment of a game where he felt that he wasn't getting enough calls, Carmelo Anthony did draw a whistle. It just wasn't the one he needed. Anthony was denied a chance at a potentially game-winning four-point play against the Houston Rockets on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden when official Scott Foster determined that a foul committed by James Harden came before the shot attempt. The Rockets led the Knicks 107-104 with just 5.8 seconds remaining when Iman Shumpert inbounded the ball to Anthony. After catching the inbounds pass on the wing, Anthony gathered himself and turned toward the rim. Harden, meanwhile, slapped at his forearm once, then twice. With Harden appearing to be fouling intentionally on the play, Anthony eventually went into his shooting motion and got off a contested shot. It was good! But it didn't count? Foster had blown his whistle after the first slap by Harden and waved off the basket. The play was close enough that even the official ...

What To Watch On Netflix, Part 3: Overlooked Gems
Huffington Post - over 3 years
Now that I've got the Classics and the Pretty Good Bets lists out of the way, welcome to my list of Netflix's Overlooked Gems. This was the Netflix recommendation roster I had the most fun compiling (it's not every day that having watched so much cult TV comes in handy). Adding to the fun: This list comes with a cherry on top, in the form of some exciting news. HuffPost TV can exclusively reveal that all five seasons of the much-loved NBC spy drama "Chuck" will be available in the U.S. for streaming on Netflix on Nov. 1. "Chuck" is a good poster child for this list, which is all about shows with fervent but smallish fan bases -- these are all shows that, for one reason or another, deserve wider attention but in many cases weren't big hits when they first aired. It truly brings me joy to recommend these kinds of shows to people who may be unfamiliar with them; if there's one thing I've become convinced of in my time as a TV critic, it's that there is a great deal of enjoyment to be ...

'Zero Hour' Shoot on Union St. Means Zero Parking Friday Night
Carrol Gardens Patch - over 4 years
On Friday evening, between 12 midnight and 6 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, an ABC paranormal thriller series, Zero Hour, will be shooting in our neighborhood. The catch? As of now, you have less than 17 hours to remove your car from the area that will be filmed. The attached flyer was spotted at the corner of Union and Bond Streets and describes the ABC series as starring Anthony Edwards, Carmen Ejogo, Scott Michael Foster, Addison Timlin, Jacinda Barrett and Michael Nyqvist in a tale following a magazine owner whose wife is abducted from her antique clock shop. What follows is a mysterious chase through history in a race against time to find his beloved as well as prevent a "cataclysmic event." The thing is, residents might feel the film shoot is rather cataclysmic, as any cars parked on the mentioned street areas after 10 p.m. will likely be relocated to another area. But if you don't drive and want to simply ogle the set, the night is all yours. Let Patch save you time ...
