Michelle Monaghan Joins Ryan Murphy’s Latest Provocative Project
Boom Tron - over 3 years
The uncomfortably beautiful Michelle Monaghan – looking at her makes me feel like I made all the wrong decisions in life and will never be as happy as she is physically attractive – is jumping on the Ryan Murphy bad wagon of tackling television in the most provocative and potentially alienating ways possible. From his early days on Nip/Tuck to his current offerings in American Horror Story, Murphy’s idea of television seems to be whatever he happens to be thinking about at the time of asking such a question. It’s because of this method that I find myself unusually drawn to his projects until I can no longer bare to look at myself in the mirror. Murphy’s latest is an HBO drama pilot called Open. It was developed with Fox 21 with Murphy co-writing with Lauren Gussis. Open is a modern, provocative (see, just like I said) exploration of human sexuality and relationships. Within this concept, Monaghan will be playing the central female character, Grace. Deadline is calling her a succes ...

Lelia Nebeker: Dear ABC: Just Stop Trying to Air Shows on Thursdays at 8 (It's Getting Embarrassing)
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
Last week, ABC canceled the midseason conspiracy drama Zero Hour after airing just three episodes. In case you missed it -- either because you were taking a really long nap, or maybe you just blinked -- Zero Hour was about an editor of a paranormal-themed magazine (Anthony Edwards) whose wife goes missing, and in his quest to find her, he discovers that he's part of a larger conspiracy that threatens the world as we know it. With its cataclysmic prophecies and borderline-supernatural mythology, Zero Hour reminded me of one of its time slot predecessors: FlashForward. Remember that show? It was the one where the entire world blacked out at the same time and saw flashes of their futures. Sounds promising, right? It was. Like Zero Hour, FlashForward couldn't find its footing in the Thursday 8 p.m. time slot, and it didn't help that its run was interrupted by the 2010 Winter Olympics. FlashForward was among the first shows to fall victim to ABC's Thursday night curse. Since then, ...

'Last Resort' Co-Creator Sounds Off On Show's Cancellation
Huffington Post - over 4 years
"Last Resort" co-creator Shawn Ryan is speaking out on the cancellation of his ABC series. Ryan announced the show was not receiving a full-season order on Friday, November 16 and went on "Kevin Pollak's Chat Show" on Sunday, saying that he wasn't surprised "Last Resort" was canceled. "I would compare it to if you have a relative who becomes terminally ill," he said. "You know it's coming and yet you still are shocked when it happens." The series stars Scott Speedman and Andre Braugher as officers on a renegade Navy submarine. It premiered to more than 9 million viewers and a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic, but "Last Resort" starting shedding viewers quickly. Though ABC didn't pick up the series, all 13 episodes of "Last Resort" will air. "Our ratings had been on the cusp, or really below the cusp, for a few weeks now. It didn't come as a huge shock," Ryan said. "We were all hoping for a bounce." "Last Resort" airs in a very competitive timeslot: Thursdays ...

According to THR, ABC will air all 13 episodes of the series. Scott Speedman, Andre Braugher and Autumn Reeser starred in the ensemble drama about a renegade submarine crew from "The Shield" creator Shawn Ryan. Comment on The Crooked Path Of David Ayer To END OF WATCH by George
Boom Tron - over 4 years
I think you should reconsider and at least watch Dark Blue. It an underrated film even Richard Roeper mentioned it in his End of Watch review. Roger Ebert gave it 3 stars way back when it came out in 2003. It has a great cast performances from Kurt Russel, Ving Rhames, Brendan Gleeson, Lolita Davidovich, Scott Speedman, and Michael Michele. It’s basically a corrupt cop story set some days before the Rodney King Riots. It has some great moments that make it a good movie but enough to make it a great one. Street King is a dud basically most flash and little substance.
