Yahoo News - about 3 years
When Motorola Mobility lined up a Silicon Valley candidate a few months ago for a VP-level role, the phone maker was hopeful he'd accept. After all, the company offered the chance to develop products at a subsidiary of Google Inc. Maureen Ryan: Why Aren't You Watching This Show?
Huffington Post - over 3 years
To each his or her own, but I can't understand why anyone wouldn't want to watch "Strike Back" (10 p.m. ET Friday, Cinemax). Maybe there are people out there who just hate fun? In honor of the show's third season, here is a partial list of reasons that you should watch this muscular yet surprisingly intelligent action drama: Look at the trailer above. That's one reason. Look at the trailer above. There's another reason. Beefcake isn't the only draw (though there is nothing inherently wrong with a slice or two of prime beefcake served on a platter of ample explosions). The two special forces soldiers of "Strike Back" may stick closely to the mismatched-buddy parameters: Damien Scott (Sullivan Stapleton) is the irreverent American party boy with a well-hidden capacity for sincerity, and Michael Stonebridge (Philip Winchester) is the responsible, dryly funny Brit haunted by his past. But both characters are engaging and grounded by a welcome dose of sarcasm ...

SOPAC Director Leaves, Millburn High School Falls From Top Perch in Essex News
The Caldewells Patch - over 4 years
Executive Director Discusses Split with SOPAC Michael Bollinger is leaving his position as executive director of South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC), effective immediately. His sudden departure, a decision he said was mutual, comes two years after Bollinger was appointed to the position. Bollinger’s interim replacement is SOPAC director of development Linda Onorevole. "The board has decided it was time for a change," SOPAC Director of Marketing and Communications Scott Sullivan told Patch. Millburn High School Falls From Number One In this year's New Jersey Monthly Magazine's list of top public high schools, Millburn fell from its place at number one, for the first time since 2008, to number eight.  However, Superintendent Dr. James Crisfield, said, "it's an honor just to be in the top 10." According to school officials, Millburn's ranking dropped mainly due to the rise in high school class size but Crisfield said he's not concerned.  "We've maintai ...

CP is just latest example of a firm changed by hedge funds By Kai Li The media frenzy in Canada over U.S. hedge fund Pershing Square’s now-successful proxy battle at Canadian Pacific has been totally unprecedented. The bashing of Pershing that we’ve seen begs the question of whether hedge funds are opportunistic investors or corporate saviours acting in the interest of investing shareholders. Related Bill Ackman has his day and his way at CP Rail annual meeting First of all, hedge funds are not a Canadian phenomenon. As of the end of 2011, Canada’s hedge fund industry was worth but $30-billion, in contrast to America’s US$1.7-trillion. The five largest U.S. hedge funds alone manage more than $100-billion in aggregate. Europe’s top 10 hedge funds manage almost US$150-billion. As a result of hedge funds’ small presence in Canada, Canadians misunderstand hedge funds, their typical tactics, and most importantly how they create shareholder value. The broadest definition of ...

Ulster close in on interprovincial crown
News Letter - almost 5 years
AFTER an absence of one season, the Under 21 inter-provincials returned this weekend to Cork and the abundance of talent on show, proved just how healthy the game is across the island. A very strong Ulster side opened their account with a 2-0 win over hosts Munster, while Leinster were held to a 1-1 draw by the Irish U18s. Owen Magee put Ulster in front on five minutes, when the Banbridge player smashed home a reverse shot after the ball went loose in the Munster circle. And on 46 minutes, Cookstown’s Mark Crooks superbly picked up a point blank kick from the keeper, to take the ball wide and thump it into the empty net. Next up for Ulster, was the Irish Under 21 side and there were a few siblings and club battles to be sorted in this one. But Ulster had to come back twice to force a draw against their younger counterparts. Scott Sullivan edged the Irish Under18’s in front, only for Stephen Dowds to level it. But Dowds’ Banbridge team mate, Ben Cosgrove restored Ireland’s lead, ...
