No Room For Friendly Fire
Huffington Post - over 1 year
I was diagnosed with HIV in late 1991. Shortly after, I joined a support group in Indianapolis, Indiana at the Damien Center. The people I met there had lost everything for disclosing their status-family, friends, jobs, housing. I felt grateful, and guilty at times, listening to others' sad stories of loss and what they were afraid of losing--because I knew that I was supported in all areas of my life. I knew then that I had an obligation to share my HIV status on as many public stages as I could. My mission was (and still is) to tell my experience in an authentic and direct way. Every time I told my story it was met with love and gratitude for my openness to share my life. Over a 14-year period, I spoke at over 2000 universities, fraternity and sorority leadership conferences, and youth groups throughout North America. More than a million young people heard my story, all in an effort to break down the stigma of HIV and help others prevent themselves from "joining the club." During ...

Lacey Chabert Strips Down to Underwear for Maxim, Says She Won't Do Anything "Scandalous"
US Magazine - over 3 years
So fetch! Mean Girls actress Lacey Chabert is a knockout in the November issue of Maxim magazine. Stripping down to a lacy gray bra and matching boyshorts for the sexy photo spread, the Party of Five alum shows off her flat abs, lean legs, and major cleavage. Her cover shot is pretty eye-catching, too. Posing in nothing more than a white bra, silk shorts, and a white cardigan, Chabert more than lives up to the "Sexier Than Ever!" headline that sits just below her name. PHOTOS: '90s TV stars, then and now Inside the mag, the 31-year-old bombshell dishes about coming of age in Hollywood. (She was 12 when she was cast as Claudia on Party of Five, opposite Matthew Fox, Neve Campbell, Scott Wolf, and Jennifer Love Hewitt.) "Look, life is tough, and growing up in this business is especially tough," she says. As for how she managed to avoid some of the common pitfalls that have threatened to sink other starlets, including her Mean Girls costar Lindsay Lohan? "I really can't tak ...

Lane Kiffin Fired: USC Fires Coach Shortly After Loss To Arizona State
Huffington Post - over 3 years
LOS ANGELES -- USC fired Lane Kiffin early Sunday morning, not long after the team lost 62-41 at Arizona State. The Trojans posted a short news release to the athletic department website, saying that athletic director Pat Haden informed Kiffin of the decision "upon the team charter's arrival back in Los Angeles" after the defeat, USC's seventh in 11 games. USC spokesman Tim Tessalone confirmed the decision when contacted by The Associated Press. Kiffin went 28-15 at USC in parts of four seasons, but his team is 0-2 in conference play for the first time since 2001. And this stay - like many of his other jobs - comes with a quick, tumultuous exit. He was an NFL head coach at age 31, a head coach in the Southeastern Conference at 33 and USC's head coach at 34. If there was a consistent trend to those stops with the Oakland Raiders, Tennessee and the Trojans, it was turmoil. With Oakland, he lasted only 20 games and his departure became a messy, public feud with Al Davis, the late R ...

Scott Wolf on Jennifer Love Hewitt: "She's Going to Be a Great Mom"
US Magazine - over 3 years
Sarah Reeves and Bailey Salinger forever! After Us Weekly broke the news of Jennifer Love Hewitt's pregnancy and engagement to Brian Hallisay last week, her former Party of Five costar Scott Wolf shared his well-wishes for the expectant star during the Screen Actors Guild Foundation's 4th Annual Los Angeles Golf Classic on Monday, June 10. PHOTOS: Jennifer Love Hewitt's love life "I'm so happy for her," Wolf, 45, told Us Weekly of Hewitt, 34. "She's going to be a great mom. . . She's going to be amazing." Though the actor admitted he hasn't seen his former TV love "in a long time," he plans to reconnect with her soon. "I'm going to reach out to her and contact her because I know she's been through a lot," he said. "I haven't spoken to her since her mom passed [in June 2012 from cancer]. But, I'm very happy for her and her fiance." Wolf himself is a father to two boys with wife Kelley Limp (of Real World: New Orleans fame). "Little Miller is sitting up. He's kind of sitting ...

Dixon to Southern Cal After Howland is Out at UCLA?
Bruins Nation - about 4 years
We still have weeks to go in the current basketball season. It has been a painful one as it has become glaringly obvious that Ben Howland and UCLA need to go their separate ways. Perhaps Howland can pull off a miracle run by winning the regular season conference title, tourney title and then getting to the Final-4. But we are not going to hold our breath. So thanks to an incompetent athletic director we are going to go through another joyless and painful basketball season with the future of Bruin hoops in limbo. Perhaps UCLA has made overtures to other coaches in the background but we are not going to pin our hopes right now on rumors flying around without anything concrete to point to. Because, if rumors were to be believe, Chris Petersen would have been named as the UCLA football coach, within days of firing of Rick Neuheisel. Meanwhile, over at the other school, a pro-active athletic director has already fired his basketball coach and presumably is running a search (in ...

Scott Wolf and Kelley Limp are now the proud parents of two boys! The Party of Five actor, 44, and the Real World: New Orleans alum, 35, welcomed son Miller William in L.A. PHOTOS: Adorable A-list tots In the weeks leading up to Miller's birth, Wolf asked his Twitter followers for their help in deciding what to call his second son. "I think we have a name, but I'm open to suggestions," he wrote. "Please don't say Bailey." PHOTOS: Stars and their dads During an interview on The Talk in June, Wolf -- who announced his wife's pregnancy via Twitter -- admitted it was hard for Jackson to comprehend that his mother was pregnant. "He came up to [my wife] one day and was like, 'What do you have in your tummy?' So we sat him down and we said, 'Mommy has a baby in there. Do you know what that means?' He said,' Yeah.' We said, 'So you ...

James Bond is Great in Books and Movies. Why is He So Mediocre in Video Games?
The New Republic - over 4 years
In case you’ve missed the articles, ignored the advertisements, blew past the billboards, and snoozed during the tributes, this year marks the fiftieth anniversary of James Bond’s first saunter onto the silver screen. To celebrate her majesty’s finest, both a new film (the 23rd in the series) and a new video game (the 25th) are being released this week. Chances are, you’ve heard about the movie, Skyfall, which will star Daniel Craig as the martini-sipping super spy. But even the most ardent video game nerds could be excused for paying no mind to the game, 007 Legends. This is no exception: While growing ever more popular as one of cinema’s most beloved icons, Bond’s attempts to conquer video games have almost always ended in a decidedly un-Bond-like fashion, with the hero derided, discarded, and dispatched to the remainder bin. This may seem surprising. A series so dense with high-tech toys and action sequences, one would think, would lose little in translation from celluloid to pixe ...

Bruin Bites: Houston Game Day Edition
Bruins Nation - over 4 years
Alright folks, it's college football Saturday and our Bruins will face the first true test of the Jim Mora, when they take on the Houston Cougars tonight at the Rose Bowl. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m. PT, and for those of you unable to make it to the Rose Bowl, it will be televised on the Pac-12 Network (if you have DirecTV, you're screwed). Yes, Nebraska was a top-25 opponent, with a high-powered offense and a defense with a tough reputation. But the Bruins have pulled these type of big wins before, dropping Tennessee twice during the Neuheisel era, going to Austin and upsetting the Longhorns in a dominating win, hell, you can even put 13-9 in the category of big wins in recent memory. But, UCLA has almost uniformly followed a "signature win" with a signature whipping in embarrassing fashion, or a second-half season collapse. So while the universe is ready to proclaim all is now grand with UCLA football, let's see if this team has really taken the next step. Hous ...

Pat Forde Praises Coach Mora ... and Blasts Kiffin in Epic Style
Bruins Nation - over 4 years
Pat Forde, now writing for Yahoo.com, had this to say about Coach Mora's tenure to date in this weeks Forde-Yard-Dash: Where the coaching changes are paying off: UCLA (1) New guy Jim Mora is 2-0 after unleashing running back Johnathan Franklin (leading the nation in rushing) and getting the Bruins' best quarterback production in years (redshirt freshman Brett Hundley). With struggling Houston coming to the Rose Bowl Saturday, UCLA should be 3-0 for the first time since 2009. Caveat: that team then lost five straight and finished 7-6. Forde doesn't really add anything that hasn't been said here, but it's always nice to see UCLA getting good national exposure. Quite frankly, it's nice to see Johnathan Franklin receive the praise that he's earned over his career. He's an NFL caliber running back that was buried in obscurity for too long. We'll get into the rest of the column after the break ... you won't want to miss it! Pat Forde, now writing for Yahoo.com, had this to ...
