Steve McQueen Would Have Been 83 Today
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
Happy Birthday to the "King of Cool." Actor Steve McQueen, full name Terence Stephen McQueen, would have turned 83 today. The "Sand Pebbles" star died of cardiac arrest on Nov. 7, 1980, at the young age of 50, following a nontraditional operation in Mexico to remove several tumors in his neck and abdomen. In 2005, TV Guide ranked the Missouri native No. 26 on its "50 Sexiest Stars of All Time" list. And McQueen is still seen as one of the most popular celebrities, entering the top 10 of the highest-earning deceased stars in 2007. McQueen's grandson, Steven R. McQueen, is now a Hollywood heartthrob himself, starring in CW's "The Vampire Diaries" as Jeremy Gilbert. Cumberbatch to join Pitt, Fassbender in McQueen's 12 Years A Slave
Ciniplex - over 4 years
Benedict Cumberbatch, best known to audiences for his lead role in TV's "Sherlock" along with his recent memorable performances in both Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and War Horse, has become the latest in an impressive list of actors to join Steven McQueen’s Shame follow-up, the historical drama 12 Years A Slave. Already on board for the production are Cineplex office faves Michael Fassbender (Shame), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Children of Men) and Brad Pitt (Moneyball). Just one of those actors would be enough to put this film near the top of my must-see list but combine all three and add in Cumberbatch and it comfortably slips into the number one spot. Also signed on for the production are Taran Killam, Scoot McNairy, Ruth Negga and Paul Dano.
