David Duchovny Wants You To Film Your Dog Licking Your Face
Huffington Post - 8 months
This isn’t just fluff. David Duchovny launched the #LickMyFace campaign on Wednesday, with a video of him spreading organic peanut butter all over his face in order to entice his rescue dog, Brick, to lick it. For every lick from Brick, Duchovny will donate $1 to Target Zero -- a nonprofit that mentors shelters, city by city, by teaching them the best practices to become “zero kill” or no-kill, meaning they will no longer euthanize healthy or treatable animals. Take, for example, Waco, Texas, which in 2012, euthanized close to 6,000 dogs and cats. After going through Target Zero’s program, it was on pace to save nearly 90 percent of the animals in its public shelter by the end of 2015. “What they do really works and it works fast,” Duchovny told The Huffington Post. “That's a lot of lives saved.”  The program has also been successful in Huntsville, Alabama, and other “Fellow Cities” (or cities enrolled in the program), including Nashville, Tennessee, El P ...

Face It: Dare We Call It the Year of Woman in Film?
Huffington Post - over 1 year
FACE IT: Dare We Call It Year of Woman In Film? by Michele Willens Last year's Academy nominators had to dig deep to find five women's roles and performances worthy of Best Actress. In one of the weakest fields ever, even winner Julianne Moore won more for her lifetime achievement than her depiction of Alzheimers in a film that no one saw. Well, I just spent a long weekend at the Middleberg Film Festival -- a jewel of an event now in its third year -- where I enjoyed at least seven performances which could end up in that category this year: Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, as on-again off- again lovers in the repressed 50s; (Carol) Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette as life long best friends facing a medical crisis; (I Miss You Already) Saoirse Ronan as a young Irish immigrant caught between two lovers; (Brooklyn); Charlotte Rampling, a wife who discovers her husband's secrets in the week leading up to their anniversary; (45 Years) and Carey Mulligan as a reluctant voting rights a ...

Liz Smith: Katie Holmes Commands Broadway and Her Life... Norbert Leo Butz Dominates Dead Accounts... Jessica Walter Rules Archer
Huffington Post - about 4 years
"I AM confused by life, and feel safe within the confines of the theater," said Helen Hayes. RAN INTO the divine actress Jessica Walter at the official opening of Dead Accounts, the new Broadway show starring Norbert Leo Butz and Katie Holmes as brother and sister. I was seated across the aisle from Jessica, in the second row. I overheard her at one point, laughing, "I hope everyone is wearing pants, I'd rather not be looking up someone's skirt!" (Actress Holmes wore jeans, Judy Greer wore a voluminous housecoat and Jayne Houdyshell's skirt was so tight there was no way of peeking, even if one wanted to.) Jessica has been seen in recent years on the sitcoms Arrested Development and Retired at 35. She is terrific as always. But she is even better as one of the voices on the outrageously raunchy animated series Archer. There, she plays the Medusa-like mother of secret-agent Archer and she is a riot. The show has been picked for 13 more episodes. Archer is not for the fain ...

The Craziest Celebrity Baby Names As Of 2012: From Apple To Zappa
Daily Fill - over 4 years
This article is presented by Giuliana Rancic’s online publication FabFitFun. Click here to sign up for her amazing newsletter for women! With the awesome news that Giuliana and Bill welcomed their baby boy Edward Duke Rancic into the world this week, we have babies on the brain. That got us thinking about all the bizarre baby names stars love to give their celebrity spawn. If a regular citizen named their firstborn Pineapple Ninja-Hunter Feather, Child Protective Services wouldn’t be far behind. But when an eccentric celebrity gives their baby boy Superman’s birth name from the destroyed mythical planet of Krypton, he or she gets a big fat congratulations on the cover of People magazine. With that in mind, we’ve ranked the weirdest celebrity baby names: 14. Sage Moonblood, the oldest son of Sylvester Stallone and Sasha Czack 13. Audio Science, the son of actress Shannyn Sossamon and her boyfriend—who oddly enough has a totally awesome name—Dallas Clayton 12. Blue Ivy Cart ...

Robert Pattinson/Kristen Stewart love implosion update—now with LIQUOR. by Ann Romano MONDAY, AUGUST 6 To further reinforce your view that "romance is a goddamned crock of shit," here's the latest on the Kristen Stewart/Robert Pattinson love implosion! First, a quick recap: RPat and KStew were all lovey-dovey until she started getting smoochy-woochy (and reportedly oral sexy) with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, who's married to now-scorned actress/model Liberty Ross. RPat kicked KStew out of his house, had her car towed to McDonald's (HA!), and went into hiding behind Reese Witherspoon's chin (okay, fine... her ranch in Ojai, California). Meanwhile KStew has been KStewing in her own pathetic juices, incessantly sobbing in between large spoonfuls of Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey. Now? According to multiple sources, RPat has been gorging himself as well—with the demon alcohol! He's been spotted whooping it up i ...

Lisa M. Dietlin: Making a Difference: The World of Giving -- Sarcoidosis Awareness Month
Huffington Post - almost 5 years
Did you know, April is National Sarcoidosis Month? You might ask what or who is sarcoidosis and how do you pronounce it? A few months ago was when I first heard this word and yes, when I first heard the word "sarcoidosis" I had to ask for it to be repeated a number of times. I just couldn't understand what was being said or what it meant. It seems I am not alone. I recently learned that actress Tea' Leoni had the same reaction when her childhood best friend informed her she had the disease. As Tea' shared, she made Andrea repeat it about 50 times as she kept trying to understand what was being said. For the record, sarcoidosis is pronounced SAR-COY-DOE-SIS. Many people have this disease and some of the names might surprise you. First, it probably helps to share what the word sarcoidosis means. Sarcoidosis is an inflammatory disease that can and does affect almost any organ in the human body. This means hearts, lungs, eyes, etc. Because of this situation, most ...
