Huffington Post - over 1 year
Kate Hudson has been everywhere lately, and by the end of the month, she'll be staring at us in the checkout line at the grocery store from the cover of Harper's Bazaar.  The actress appears on the fashion magazine's December 2015 issue looking gorgeous and radiant as ever. If that smile doesn't make you want to buy into whatever trends the issue is selling for the holidays, we don't know what will. (Subscribers get a different cover, which features an equally gorgeous image of Hudson in a flowing pink dress.) Shot by Terry Richardson, Hudson shows off some of her best yoga poses while dressed in expensive designer duds.  Inside the issue, the "Kung Fu Panda 3" actress talks about balancing her career and being a mother.  "I think a lot of people, especially when you’re a woman, you have kids, and work on movies, it’s hard because you’re away from them. There’s nothing lazy about it," she told the magazine. "You go to work, get on the first plane home even if it’s for e ...

If Fashion Ads Treated Men And Women The Same Way
Huffington Post - over 2 years
Hypersexualized advertisements showing women's bodies (or disembodied parts) are all too commonplace -- but would we react to these ads differently if they objectified men the same way they do women? (Some images are NSFW.) In a July 9 piece for TakePart, writers Holly Eagleson and Lauren Wade remade particularly controversial ads, replacing female models with male ones. The pair focused on images related to men who have had an active hand in objectifying female models. For example, the pair used Sisley and Tom Ford campaigns shot by fashion photographer Terry Richardson, who has for almost a decade been accused of sexual harassment and taking advantage of models. They also used American Apparel ads, pointing to the company's recent controversy with former CEO Dov Charney as another example of sexism and objectification in the industry. Charney is accused of numerous work-related "sexual transgressions," including making one former employee his "sex slave" shortly after he ...

Lady Gaga Wants to Be Oprah and More Surprising Revelations From Her Harper's Bazaar Cover Story
People Magazine - about 3 years
Courtesy Terry Richardson for Harper’s BAZAAR Lady Gaga has worn many hats (literally and figuratively) over the course of her career, but the one she most covets is the crown worn by two of the richest women in the United States: noted philanthropist. “I always think to myself, How do I want to be remembered?” she muses in the March issue of Harper’s Bazaar. “I don’t want to be remembered as anything but brave. The only good intention to make money is to help others. I want to be Oprah. I want to be Melinda Gates. If I ever sell products other than my talents, then it will be to give more to others.” RELATED PHOTOS: Runway vs. Red Carpet! Who wore it best: the model or the celeb? For now, though, she’s content to focus her considerable energy on fashion — curating, playing with and maintaining it. And you won’t be surprised to find out that she has a massive clothing storage facility straight out of Cher Horowitz’s dreams. “The fashion I’ve acquired over the years is so sacr ...

Nina Agdal’s Butt Posed For Terry Richardson

Miley Cyrus Calls Performing With Madonna ‘Super Lame’
The Superficial - about 3 years
If you somehow haven’t heard by now, Miley Cyrus performed with Madonna for MTV Unplugged because truly we bear witness to the End of Days. (Forgive me, AJ McCarron, for I know not what I do.) Except keeping with her new tradition of pissing in the face of industry vets, Miley Cyrus is already done with this shit. Via HuffPost: “So, it sounds super lame, but as a pop star it’s pretty cool performing with Madonna,” the 21-year-old said after singing a mash-up of Madonna’s 2000 track “Don’t Tell Me” and Cyrus’ hit “We Can’t Stop.” Cyrus spanks the 55-year-old Queen of Pop during the duet, which made Madonna’s Britney Spears kiss feel like it was way more than 10 years ago. “I mean, I guess it’s cool, sort of, that Madonna wanted to do it even though she’s old and everyone’s into me now, but whatever, I’m like young and shit, you know? Although it is kind of nice to do her a favor. Like when you go over to your grandma’s house and help her do the dishes. Right, Madge-ina?” “USURPER ...

Your Soul Can't Be Bought: Behind the Scenes of StyleLikeU
Huffington Post - over 3 years
Since StyleLikeU began (2009), we've always struggled to show just how personal the site is to us. We are 1000 percent aware of the selfie, social media culture and talking about ourselves is about as natural to us as chivalry is to Terry Richardson. However, we know that the story of StyleLikeU will never evolve if we don't open up. Basically, StyleLikeU is a synonym for us. We live and breathe this. From dreaming incessantly about what muses to introduce each other to, to being invigorated weekly by a refreshing take on a style detail or life lesson, to brainstorming hashtags, answering emails and coming up with ideas 24/7/365 (holidays and weekends aren't a part of our lives). We interview and shoot everyone ourselves, and we do so not because of their Twitter following or because we're getting paid to promote them, but because their lives inspire us to such an extent that the idea of not being able to share our endless revelations with the entire world would feel akin to suffo ...

Lady Gaga Throws 'artRave,' Takes Off In Flying Dress
Huffington Post - over 3 years
Lady Gaga and Jeff Koons hosted a big party in Brooklyn on Sunday night. The "artRave," which celebrated the release of Gaga's album, "ARTPOP," featured the debut of a number of Koons sculptures, including the gigantic image that's featured on the singer's album cover. Madeon, DJ White Shadow and Lady Starlight DJ'd throughout the event as happy crowds were ferried in from Manhattan. At around 12:45 a.m., long after fans began complaining loudly that the singer had yet to appear, Gaga made her entrance in needlessly chaotic fashion. Clad in the art equivalent of swimming pool floaties and a mask, the singer was carried from the rear of the crowd to the stage. The only problem? People were already packed in and waiting for the singer to appear on the stage, so her getting there caused a violent, flat-out risky near-stampede as camera men and security barreled through the crowd. Once Gaga took the stage, however, all was nearly forgotten. The singer worked through the new album ...
