Book Review: FilmCraft: Producing by Geoffrey Macnab and Sharon Swart
Seattle Pi - almost 4 years
Book Review: FilmCraft: Producing by Geoffrey Macnab and Sharon Swart Seattle Post-Intelligencer Copyright 2013 Seattle Post-Intelligencer. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed. Published 11:10 pm, Monday, April 22, 2013 From Tim Bevan (whose IMDB page speaks for itself) and Bill Kong (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), to Lauren Shuler Donner (Mr. Mom, Free Willy, and every X-Men film), the team of Ron Yerxa & Albert Berger (Little Miss Sunshine, Election), and Andrew Macdonald (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later). While Producing may not necessarily be something you sit down and read from cover to cover, every chapter is full of the featured producer's own stories. Working the same way as Directing did, it comes off as either an informational coffee table book or a more entertaining version of a school text book.

Tom Teodorczuk: Mirren and Morgan Create a Captive Audience
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
It's not often the queen travels the short distance from Buckingham Palace to London's West End to go to the theatre. One show she did see was Stephen Daldry's musical Billy Elliot in 2006. Appropriately, Daldry is directing The Audience, the new play by Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon), at the Gielgud Theatre in which Helen Mirren portrays Queen Elizabeth II over a 60-year period. Mirren played the same regal role half a decade ago in The Queen (also scripted by Morgan), which depicted the tense relationship between the monarchy and Tony Blair following Princess Diana's death. She wound up winning an Oscar for Best Actress. But second time around as the U.K. sovereign, Mirren is even better on stage in The Audience than she was in The Queen. The construct of the play is simple. Each Wednesday that the queen and the prime minister are both in London, they hold a weekly meeting. The discussions are confidential and nobody else is present. Morgan has created electrify ...

Patricia Rust: Lights Camera Action for Producers Awards
Huffington Post - about 4 years
The first bright face I saw at the Producers Guild's Awards Show at the Beverly Hilton was our own Marlo Thomas, there to present an award named for her father, Danny Thomas, (who is truly a founding father of television), for episodic television for Louie. Marlo is like wine and gets better! She is as adorable as the day she became That Girl, should age but doesn't, and when I started to ask about the long-time crush I had on her brother, my courage failed me, so maybe she is still "That Girl" so much so that I look to her as a role model and not someone I can easily ask about her brother! Maybe I can do it here! What a doll and wise woman she rolls into one amazing woman! You go, Marlo! Next I saw a string of fabulous actresses including my favorite tall girls Anne Hathaway and Nicole Kidman. Nicole and I were the same size but we both looked up to see Anne who had lost so much weight for Les Miserables that she looked even that much taller! She could be a porcelain ...

Universal Extends Working Title Films Deal
The Wrap - almost 5 years
Universal Pictures has extended its production deal with Working Title Films, co-chairmen Adam Fogelson and Donna Langley announced Friday. Working Title, run by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, will now have a first-look deal rather than an exclusive deal. That is similar to what happened when Universal re-upped with Imagine Entertainment in January.
