Kerri Zane: 5 Ways To Win A Single Mom's Heart
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
Dating a single mom might not be the right choice for every single man. It takes a special kind of guy to want to be involved with a woman who is committed to devoting a significant amount of time and attention to her children. But it is also true that a vast majority of single moms -- who are nurturers by nature -- can be wonderful partners. They engender an amazing capacity to be flexible, compassionate and committed. So, for the single guy who has found himself drawn to a single mom, here are a few tips to win her heart. 1. Plan a family date night. If you've met a single mom and your relationship has progressed to the point where it is time to meet her children, take the initiative and suggest a family date night. The first time you meet her kids should be short, sweet and very kid centric. WATCH: 'Penguins Are Declining So Fast'
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
As Antarctic ice continues to melt at an alarming rate, scientists warn that the well-being of penguins native to the region is becoming increasingly threatened. According to a new report by NBC News' Kerry Sanders, the welfare and existence of at least half of the world's 18 penguin species will be negatively impacted if the warming of the Antarctic Peninsula persists. Experts say that a big part of the problem is related to food: Less ice means less krill, a cornerstone of the Antarctic ecosystem and a mainstay of a penguin's diet. "When you look at all penguins they are largely in trouble," said Oxford University penguinologist Tom Hart, who spends a few months every year observing penguin colonies along the Antarctic coast, per NBC. "We're so concerned because we're seeing massive changes to their populations. They’re probably not going to go extinct anytime soon, but the environment is changing very fast." Emperor penguins, Adelies and chinstraps, for example ...

G8 Leaders Called on to Address Hunger, Poverty
Voice of America - almost 5 years
Humanitarian groups say they want G8 leaders to make food security and poverty top priorities at their upcoming summit. The leaders gather later this month at Camp David in Maryland. <!--AV--> In 2009, at the L’Aquila Summit in Italy, G8 leaders pledged $22 billion over three years to improve agriculture and bolster food security. They were responding to the food crisis that began in 2008, when high prices and shortages triggered riots in a number of countries. The summit also resulted in the U-S led L’Aquila Food Security Initiative. It was backed by 26 countries and 14 organizations. However, some leading humanitarian groups say despite the pledge and follow-up efforts, much more needs to be done to end hunger. Neil Watkins of ActionAid said the L’Aquila commitment is about to expire. “The G8 will face a choice on whether to sustain and expand that commitment to fighting hunger around the world or rather to let it expire. For anti-poverty advocates, there is a key ques ...

Police hunting cemetery flasher
Hartlepool Mail - almost 5 years
POLICE are hunting a flasher who exposed himself in a cemetery. The man is said to have been wearing “distinctive pink and grey underwear” which was revealed when his trousers fell down as he ran away. He had fled as the dog walker he flashed in Jesmond Road cemetery, in Hartlepool, confronted him. The incident happened at around 2.45pm on Tuesday. A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “A lone woman was walking her dog in the cemetery when she noticed a man who then exposed himself to her and made a lewd comment. “She challenged him and he made off along Hart Lane. As he ran off, his jeans fell down and revealed distinctive pink and grey underwear.” The man is described as a white, aged in his early 20s, of medium build with long, dark hair and a pale, “baby face” complexion. He was wearing a dark blue tracksuit that had a hood with a pink lining and blue jeans. Police say a man matching the description had been sighted before in the cemetery wearing the same clothes.
