'Hot In Cleveland' Reunites Cast Of 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show' (VIDEO)
Huffington Post - over 3 years
For the first part of its two-part season finale, "Hot in Cleveland' staged a reunion for "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," bringing together all of the women from the cast. Of course, Betty White and Georgia Engel are already a part of the "Cleveland" cast, so they just had to reunite with Mary Tyler Moore, Valerie Harper and Cloris Leachman. In the world of "Cleveland," the women were part of a championship bowling league that split up 50 years ago. After that breakup, which got ugly, they lost touch with one another. There were, of course, plenty of nods to their old show, which aired from 1970 to 1977 on CBS Saturday nights. After everyone but Moore reunited, the women feared that she hadn't come. But then they saw her at the table already. "Looks like she made it after all!” Elka said. In talking about their bowing league, Harper's character said "We were the best there ever was." "Every Saturday night all eyes were on us," added Moore's character. Valerie Bertinelli said that work ...

Mary & Rhoda, Back Together

Mary & Rhoda are back together. Valerie Harper and Mary Tyler Moore will reunite on screen with fellow "Mary Tyler Moore" co-stars in the "Hot In Cleveland" season finale. In the 1-hour Season 4 finale, Elka (Betty White) and Mamie (Georgia Engel) reunite their bowling team -- their former "Mary Tyler Moore Show" co-stars Moore, Harper and Cloris Leachman -- and Joy (Jane Leeves), Victoria (Wendie Malick) and Melanie (Valerie Bertinelli) date a professor, director and surgeon. Other guest stars include George Hamilton and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. The "Hot In Cleveland" episode featuring the "Mary Tyler Moore" reunion filmed in the spring of 2013 after Harper announced her battle with terminal cancer. Since then, Harper's cancer is close to remission, her doctor said. There are rumors that Harper will compete on Season 17 of "Dancing With the Stars." The "Mary Tyler Moore" reunion on "Hot In Cleveland" airs Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 10 p.m. ET on TV Land.

'Hollywood Game Night': Valerie Bertinelli Tears Things Up
Huffington Post - over 3 years
Jane Lynch promised she had some super-competitive celebrities lined up for "Hollywood Game Night," and she wasn't kidding. Valerie Bertinelli was part of the sophomore episode's group of celebrities, and she got so competitive, she started tearing things up ... literally. The game was "Smash the Buzzer," and admittedly, it was asking for the celebrities -- and "regular folk" contestants -- to get aggressive. Buzzers were set in front of the couches the teams sat on, and the first person to hit the buzzer was able to answer. The two contestants, and all six celebrities, were playing simultaneously. It was a mad dash to the buzzers each time. The "Hot in Cleveland" star went hard for the buzzer, slamming into it and actually ripping the top of the buzzer off. But that's not all she ripped. “Woah! Yes, and you break the equipment," said Lynch. "You ripped your jeans!” “Oh, it’s whatever," laughed Bertinelli. "All for the team!” While she was all laughs during the sho ...

Getting TV Nostalgic At The 'Hot in Cleveland' Live Premiere
Ok Magazine - over 3 years
When it comes to TV shows, I admit I’m a little (okay, a lot) stuck in the past. Golden Girls, Frasier, Everybody Loves Raymond, The Cosby Show, Friends—there’s something so comforting to me about reliving episodes of my favorite old sitcoms, like visiting with a bestie you haven’t seen in a while. Fortunately I feel like TV Land has made it socially acceptable for people like me to bask in the glow emanating from our screens of series past. The TVs have gotten skinnier but the laughs are still the same. I mean if there’s an entire channel devoted to old favorites, I can’t be the only one, right? Watch: Bret Michaels Shares What Not To Put In Your RV When I attended TV Land’s Hot in Cleveland live season premiere viewing and after-party on Wednesday night, I felt totally in my element. My sister-in-law is a fellow die-hard Golden Girls fan so she was my guaranteed plus one. If I was going to breathe the same air as Betty White, I needed to have someone by my side who could apprec ...

Opponents Urge Jewell To Reign In Horse Management Budget
Huffington Post - over 3 years
RENO, Nev. -- Thirty U.S. representatives urged new U.S. Interior Secretary Sally Jewell on Thursday to make a priority out of reforming the government's wild horse management program and its spiraling budget that they say has created an "untenable situation" for both the mustangs and taxpayers. Arizona Rep. Raul Grijalva, the ranking Democrat on the House Natural Resources subcommittee on public lands and environmental regulation, wrote the letter appealing to Jewell "as a conservationist and outdoor enthusiast" to help bring "long overdue" changes at the U.S. Bureau of Land Management charged with protecting the horses. "Given the importance of wild horses to the American people and considering the ever-tightening budget situation, we believe that this is a problem that demands your urgent attention," he wrote. Florida Rep. C.W. Bill Young, a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, was the lone Republican to sign the letter. The majority of th ...

The Most Adorable Thing You'll See Today
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
"The Mary Tyler Moore Show" theme song has never sounded as adorable as it did when Mary Tyler Moore, Valerie Harper, Cloris Leachman, Georgia Engel, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick, Valerie Bertinelli and Betty White sang it with Katie Couric. Couric was on the set of "Hot In Cleveland" for the TV Land sitcom's "Mary Tyler Moore" reunion and chatted with the stars about everything from aging to Valerie Harper's terminal cancer. The "Katie" interview ended with an off-key -- yet still wonderful -- rendition of the famous sitcom theme song. For more adorableness, tune in for "Hot In Cleveland's" "Mary Tyler Moore Show" reunion episode, which is set to air in September. "Katie" airs weekdays, 3 p.m. ET on ABC. TV Replay scours the vast television landscape to find the most interesting, amusing, and, on a good day, amazing moments, and delivers them right to your browser.

Betty's Not Going Anywhere
Huffington Post - almost 4 years
TV Land has renewed "Hot in Cleveland" for a fifth season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The sitcom, starring Betty White, will air 24 episodes in its fifth season, enough to get it past the 100 episode mark. Generally, 100 episodes is the point at which shows can be sold into syndication, but "Hot in Cleveland" already has a syndication deal in place with stations in nine of the top ten markets -- covering over 65 percent of the country -- for a September 2014 debut. "This is an incredible milestone for the show and for TV Land," Larry W. Jones, TV Land president, said in a statement. "To have our first scripted sitcom make it to the syndication level is a huge accomplishment. We have a brilliant creative team both in front of and behind the camera. We are so proud to be on this exciting ride with them." The show will return for the second half of its fourth season on Wednesday, June 19, kicking off with a live episode at 10 p.m. ET. Along with White, it star ...

Huffington Post - almost 4 years
We received a letter from a reader telling us how how much she loved the scene in Desk Set (a film that Amy Ephron's parents' wrote) where Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy make fried chicken and floating island! And since it's Oscar Season, it inspired us to ask some of our contributors what their favorite food scenes in movies are... Anjelica Huston Favorite food scene! I won't say it was the Dead, which involved sitting in front of fish-fed goose for three weeks! I would have to say Tom Jones, the scene where Joyce Redman and Albert Finney eat Lobster.... Amy Ephron The scene in Ron Howard's Splash where Daryl Hannah attacks the shellfish in the fancy restaurant mermaid-style and the scene in Big where Tom Hanks razor nibbles the baby ears of corn the way a kid would. In character, ingenious and hilarious in both instances. Lynda Resnick I guess the most memorable food scene in movies for me is from What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? when Jane serves her sister' ...
