"Hacksaw Ridge" Is an Amazing Movie About Faith, Courage, Love and Patriotism
Huffington Post - 4 months
Movie Review - Jackie K Cooper "Hacksaw Ridge" (Lionsgate) "Hacksaw Ridge" is a movie hard to watch but also hard to forget. Mel Gibson directed this film based on the life of Desmond Doss, a young man from Virginia who served in World War II as a medic. He was also a conscientious objector who stated he would never touch a rifle or take anyone's life. This determination to serve his country but also hold fast to his beliefs makes for a film that touches the hearts and souls of audiences from its beginning to its end. The first half of the film serves as a set up to all that occurs in the second half. Andrew Garfield portrays Doss who is seen as a simple and naive young man. His father (Hugo Weaving) is a World War I veteran who is haunted by all that he saw in combat. He has turned to alcohol to try and hold off his demons. This is turn causes him to be emotionally and physically abusive to his wife (Rachel Griffiths) and his two sons. When Pearl Harbor is bom ...

Maroon 5’s latest music video is a Pokemon Go parody, because of course it is
Yahoo News - 4 months
Although Pokemon Go might not be as huge as it was a few months ago, it's still one of the top grossing apps on iOS and Android and regularly finds its way into the headlines . Inspired by the game's success, the band Maroon 5 decided to dress up as ripoff Pokemon in the music video for their song "Don't Wanna Know." SEE ALSO:  One of the most popular Pokemon Go map trackers is being revived this weekend Along with being extremely bizarre, the video is surprisingly funny and absolutely jam-packed with celebrity cameos. Ed Helms can be seen running from a group of children about a minute into the video, Sarah Silverman portrays Adam Levine's ex-girlfriend, and there's even an extended outro featuring Vince Vaughn as a Pokemon who's tired of running away. If anything, I'm glad this video exists just so that we know what a Pokemon drinking out of a bottle of whiskey by a pool might look like, because I have a feeling that's not going to be part of the upcoming Pokemon Sun and Moon games. Andrew Garfield Is A Damn Hero In The 'Hacksaw Ridge' Trailer
Huffington Post - 7 months
Andrew Garfield has shed his British accent in the past, playing Spider-Man and, in “99 Homes,” a father battling real-estate corruption. Now, he is portraying another American hero in “Hacksaw Ridge,” this time with a Southern drawl that is so earnest you’ll just want to squeeze his dainty, heroic little body.  In Mel Gibson’s new movie, Garfield plays Desmond Doss, the religious conscientious objector who saved 75 comrades in a World War II battle without carrying a single gun. President Harry Truman awarded Doss a Medal of Freedom, and Robert Schenkkan (”All the Way”) and Randall Wallace (”Braveheart”) awarded him with a screenplay about his life. The movie, which also stars Vince Vaughn and Sam Worthington, opens Nov. 4, smack-dab in the war zone that is Oscar season. Matthew McConaughey Might Have One Last 'True Detective' Case Left In Him
Huffington Post - 8 months
Matthew McConaughey misses "True Detective" almost as much as Season 2 of the HBO series missed a coherent narrative. Right Vince Vaughn's wrongs, won't you McConaughey?  The actor, whose turn as homicide detective Rustin "Rust" Cohle earned him immense critical acclaim at the tail end of the McConaissance, revealed he is open to reprising the role in some capacity.  “I miss Rust Cohle, man. I miss watching him on Sunday nights. I miss watching 'True Detective' on Sunday nights," he told sportscaster Rich Eisen in a recent interview. "I was a happy man when we made that for six months, because I was on my own island.” Nic Pizzolatto's anthology crime drama became somewhat of a critical darling in its first season, garnering McConaughey, co-star Woody Harrelson and the series Emmy nominations in 2014. But critics were not so kind to Pizzolatto's second effort, which featured a new slate of worthy actors whose talents were overshadowed by a cumbersome plot, inexplicably long s ...
