Today I am trundling through the West country by train to visit a sculpture park in a beautiful part of the English countryside - Dorset - made famous by the likes of 19th Century novelists Hardy and Austen. Sculptor, Simon Gudgeon and his wife, garden designer, Monique have created a stunning outdoor sculpture gallery called Sculpture by the Lakes on a huge scale through landscaping, garden design and acres of waterways. It is the combined talent of this partnership that has created an idyllic park in which you can view Simon's kinetic, abstract and figurative bronze sculptures to maximum effect - miles away from any sterile white-walled gallery. Every installation is a collaboration between this husband and wife duo carefully placing each piece into the surrounding landscape, creating spectacular vistas planted to maximum effect. The Gay Gordons will be centre piece of this weekend’s festival

TOWCESTER’S 10th Midsummer Music Festival will have a Scottish twist this year with a ceilidh in the Town Hall on Saturday evening. This year there are 11 venues, all with in walking distance of Market Place, and the main Saturday festival will once again be preceded tonight, Friday, June 18, by a concert by the Towcester Rock School in the town hall. There will also be non-stop music at the Plough Inn. Admission will be by programme or £3 on the night. On Saturday Mayor David Linney will officially open the festival at 7.15pm from the Town Hall steps. However several venues plan to start before that. The music will continue until 10 or 11pm depending on the venue and many of them will be serving food and drink. Programmes cost £18 for a family, £7 for adults, with a £5 concession, and they are available at Colemans, The Dolphin, Towcester Tea Rooms, The Plough, The Bull, The Saracen’s Head and Jackie’s Pre-loved Clothes.

    In 2011, Linley's daughter, Margarita Armstrong-Jones, was a bridesmaid at the wedding of the Duke of Cambridge.

Though his mother was a princess, in the United Kingdom royal titles and styles are passed only from the father. He does not hold the title Viscount Linley in his own right; rather, it is a courtesy title used by the eldest son and heir apparent of the Earl of Snowdon. Linley is the son of Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, and the 1st Earl of Snowdon; thus he is the nephew of Queen Elizabeth II, and a grandson of George VI. At the time of his birth he was fifth in the line of succession to the British throne; he is currently in eighteenth place and is the first person in the line of succession who is not a descendant of the Queen.

Viscount Linley also has a half-brother, Jasper Cable-Alexander, son of his father and Melanie Cable-Alexander, an editor at Country Life magazine.
